DFiL voted Leave. He's not thick and he had his reasons but, to be frank, he's 80 and not going to have to live with the consequences long term. Especially, if the NHS don't manage to stockpile his multiple medications in the event of a No Deal.

AIBU to think we all need to kick up an almighty stink to ensure that our Government makes a deal that will protect our children's futures - even if that means remaining. Jacob Rees Mogg and his ERG buddies predict it could be 50 years for the UK to see the benefits of leaving the EU. That's too late for my DD.

Austerity has damaged enough lives, we can't let Brexit do more harm. It's no good shrugging and saying "Leave won". If this isn't sorted out there will be no winners.

To be honest, when I go to the USA or Canada and I see how different things look, and how differently people behave, and how different their overall outlook and way of life is, I realise just how European we actually are.

We are far more similar in terms of way of life and mindset to our neighbours in Europe than we are to anyone else.

Here's a radical suggestion. How about we take profit out of the NHS, thus enabling us to fund it properly. Also, that 'financial control' we already have via the BofE could be diverted from propping up the banks with QE to QE for the NHS, other public services etc. Take profit out of it and there wilol be no need for extra taxes.

Europe is not a homogeneous block but we share fundamental beliefs. Politically, we are very similar. The great philosophers of Ancient Greece form the basis of our thinking. Our great literary figures include Dostoevsky, Proust, De Beauvoir, Mann - all these are massively important to English literature. We feed off European culturally and we feed off them.

We share a common history due to our proximity. To deny this just makes you look ignorant and a bit silly.

Just because 17 million voters (approximately 26% of the population, aided and abetted by the Bus of Lies, Cambridge Analytica and the Russians) possibly decided that they're not European (or perhaps that they are European, they just hate the EU as an institution, or that they are European but they wanted £350m a week for the NHS, or any of the other varied reasons people had for voting leave), that doesn't make the UK any less European.

Will someone tell me how we get from Day One to a range of fantastic deals ? I just don't see it. I see a lot of serious economic difficulties lasting a long time.

The politicians must have known that the UK was similar to Northern Europe in terms of binge drinking. I reckon large backhanders from the food and alcohol industry was more likely the reason.

When referring to Europe historically the U.K. was included. When referring to the mainland or continental Europe the U.K. was not included.

Why was a Classical education so important for centuries if the ideas of the Ancient Greeks and Romans weren't fundamental to U.K. society?
