to think our children will not forgive us if we don't sort Brexit out

DFiL voted Leave. He's not thick and he had his reasons but, to be frank, he's 80 and not going to have to live with the consequences long term. Especially, if the NHS don't manage to stockpile his multiple medications in the event of a No Deal.

AIBU to think we all need to kick up an almighty stink to ensure that our Government makes a deal that will protect our children's futures - even if that means remaining. Jacob Rees Mogg and his ERG buddies predict it could be 50 years for the UK to see the benefits of leaving the EU. That's too late for my DD.

Austerity has damaged enough lives, we can't let Brexit do more harm. It's no good shrugging and saying "Leave won". If this isn't sorted out there will be no winners.

If people cannot differentiate the U.K. from elsewhere, all be it mainland Europe or elsewhere in the world, then it's not up to me to point out those differences. I suspect people know those differences but are deliberately being obtuse because it helps their argument about why we should remain in the EU. 🤷🏼‍♀️

10 degrees

Your not an evil British bigot. Your a hurt person and hurt people hurt people.

You'll get your heart grinch don't worry SmileWinkWine

10degreestostarboard · 20/09/2018 21:50

In the same way that a man who self ids as a woman isn’t a woman, you can’t tell me I am European when I patently am not

bellinisurge · 20/09/2018 21:51

Still waiting @10degreestostarboard . You still don't want to tell us how we get from Day One to fantastic deals.

10degreestostarboard · 20/09/2018 21:51

Ethel

The remain campaign was as batshit as the leave one. Except yours contained added smugness

A lot like this thread

10degreestostarboard · 20/09/2018 21:52

Bellinsurge

We hard Brexit and wto on day 1

That’s what I voted for

bellinisurge · 20/09/2018 21:52

Which other country operates purely on WTO?

Linziluckymummy · 20/09/2018 21:54

I worry about this too OP.
Unfortunately there are more ignorant people of voting age than there are younger people, unable to vote that will have to deal with the consequences (your DFiL for example).

I'm constantly looking through change.org to add my signature to many letters and petitions for MP's to reconsider all the rubbish they're planning on putting this country through but I doubt it will do much.. I would be out marching too if I didn't have 6 month old EBF twins that would scream the entire time as they hate their pushchair so much.
Although maybe more people turning up with babies/children taking part would be a good way to show who will be effected the most by all of this.

bellinisurge · 20/09/2018 21:54

Answer - that economic powerhouse Mauritania.

10degreestostarboard · 20/09/2018 21:54

How many other countries are about to exit the eu?

You asked about day 1

CiderBrains · 20/09/2018 21:55

We have far more in common, rightly or wrongly, with the US than we do mainland Europe.

Santaclarita · 20/09/2018 21:55

Can anyone from the leave side tell us how brexit will benefit us, financially?

If not why did you even vote leave?

Let's face it, we are screwed as a country now thanks to these idiots who voted leave. I don't think anything is going to persuade May to change on this and try to change the outcome. No amount of protests or anything will change it.

Moussemoose · 20/09/2018 21:55

CiderBrains no one is saying the U.K. is not different to many European countries. Spain is different to Italy. Greece is different to Denmark.

BUT we are more similar than different. The fundamental beliefs in European societies come from the same roots: Ancient Greece. Were are all Judeo-Christian societies based in shared beliefs.

Our politics was shaped by the same writers and idealists.

Just because we might laugh at different sit coms does not mean we don't share deep, fundamental, cultural norms and expectations.

BlitheringIdiots · 20/09/2018 21:56

Planes will not stop flying on 29 March into and out of UK. It would be economic suicide for the EU bloc.

The major airlines have back burner contingency plans but are holding fire implementing them because the deal may come first.

bellinisurge · 20/09/2018 21:56

With whom will we make deals? How long will it take? What do we have that makes us great to deal with that is better than a 28 nation trade bloc.
Do have as much idea about WTO as you do about supply chains?

10degreestostarboard · 20/09/2018 21:56

Happily, any political party that commits to remain stands to lose up to half the voting public and would be obliterated at the polls by people like me

So sorry - no second referendum and no stay of execution. Enjoy the ride! :)

recluse · 20/09/2018 21:56

Leavers might not feel like EU citizens, or want to be part of the EU, that’s one thing.

However we are European, in the same way that we are Homo Sapiens.

When Americans “do” Europe, they include places like London FFS.

And the referendum did not prove that we are not European - we will always be that, whether we are part of the EU or not.

Added to which, Leavers are not a majority in the country. At all. And in the meantime teenagers who couldn’t vote, now can.

to think our children will not forgive us if we don't sort Brexit out
bellinisurge · 20/09/2018 21:57

Ah, so @BlitheringIdiots believes in trusting rich foreign capital to save us.

borntobequiet · 20/09/2018 21:58

A little out of date, but as of a year or so ago, only Mauritania (though it does have some agreements with other African states).

We have far more in common, rightly or wrongly, with the US than we do mainland Europe.

Ugh. We really do not.

CiderBrains · 20/09/2018 21:59

We really do!

1tisILeClerc · 20/09/2018 22:00

@bellinisurge. You know you are wasting your pixels, there is no significant upside to leaving. You can't see it because unless your aspiration is as low as a blue passport, it doesn't exist. All the problems that the UK has are down to poor government, as you know the Sovereign government that has always been 'in charge'.
I just hope that 10degrees doesn't get one. I presume not as Europe is so horrible and worse, full of foreigners.

BlitheringIdiots · 20/09/2018 22:01

No they have to restructure their corporate members. Your comment is not connected in any way to mine.

Hazardswan · 20/09/2018 22:01

Bullshite do we have more in common with the US.

We'll have more in common post brexit when they've privatised our NHS.

woman11017 · 20/09/2018 22:01

Planes will not stop flying on 29 March into and out of UK.

Planes will stop flying.

Open Skies stops on 29.3.19 and tourism on mainland Europe with the other EU27 will carry on happily without british people.

By 5.4.19 the school Easter holidays start.

3 days after supermarket stocks run out.

Those who want a 'no deal' brexit now might not be feeling to clever then.
