My DD has come home from her first day of secondary school almost inconsolable! She has realised that we didn’t visit McDonalds all summer!!!!
I did take younger DD, just didn’t tell older DD.

AIBU?

Is McDonald’s only open in the summer?

FissionChips · 05/09/2018 19:14

Tell her to stop acting like a three year old.

Scabetty · 05/09/2018 19:15

The excitement’s been too much. Early night for her Smile

Ellieboolou27 · 05/09/2018 19:16

Take her now to celebrate her first day at big school

NotUmbongoUnchained · 05/09/2018 19:16

Secondary or primary??

RedHelenB · 05/09/2018 19:17

This is obviously not about McDonald’s OP. Suggest you have a good long chat with her about her first day at secondary school, while you go to your local drive through.

Car based conversations are easier on teens and preteens, because you’re both looking straight ahead rather than at each other. Takes the pressure off.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 05/09/2018 19:21

No, don’t tell her to “stop acting like a 3 year old”.

It’s her first day in a scary new place, emotions are pent up and have spilled all over the place and this is how it’s spilling out.
Give her a hug and an early night
I’m a 30 year old woman who cried over Ocado delivering the wrong ice cream last night. Bawled my eyes out. It obviously wasn’t about the ice cream...just the way a shitty day escaped from me

MrsMozart · 05/09/2018 19:22

Definitely a hug and some time together, at McDonalds of necessary, find out what the issue is.

Scabetty · 05/09/2018 19:23

Some nasty comments on here. A child has started secondary school and is upset so she meeds to grow up unless she has additional needs Angry. Pity your kids.

therealimposter · 05/09/2018 19:31

It's nothing to do with MacDonalds, it's some other issue. I hope you get to the bottom of it OP, starting secondary school is such a big deal.

PersisFord · 05/09/2018 19:32

Poor thing. Not once, all summer?

ChristmasPlanner · 05/09/2018 19:32

Bless her, it's been a very big day and she's probably tired and a bit overwhelmed.

1CantPickAName · 05/09/2018 19:34

I know @PersisFord we normally go at least twice a week. I can only assume she was talking to someone and the subject came up and reminded her

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 05/09/2018 19:36

Oh bless her. It’s so not about McDs. Big hugs, snuggle in front of the telly, maybe some ice cream/cake...

First day of secondary is a huge leap for them.

1CantPickAName · 05/09/2018 19:36

Yes @Scabetty I think your right

OP posts:
Parisbun · 05/09/2018 19:37

Of course its not about Maccy Ds . But she needs to let the stress out somehow. Macdonalds will do - and a takeaway will help.

Strokethefurrywall · 05/09/2018 19:39

... and cue lots of posters saying "omg you take your kids to McDonalds twice a week?" Shock

Meh, McDonalds twice a week is no big deal. But there is obviously something else going on if shes inconsolable about it.

1CantPickAName · 05/09/2018 19:42

@Strokethefurrywall nothing going on, she just really likes McDonalds

OP posts:
Mandarine · 05/09/2018 19:43

So you go to McDonalds twice a week (why??) but for some reason, you forgot to go over the summer and now your DD is “inconsolable”. Confused

Just go to McDinakds then if you really must

Workpenguin · 05/09/2018 19:47

Hope you are off to McDonalds now 😎

We went to Australia in the summer and the kids were going crazy to stop at McDonalds, we did but did think did I fly 20 hours to do this 😂, still kept food bill down but no veggie burger for veggie DD and KFC did no sweetcorn or beans.

Hope there's nothing else, just moved DD as she was very unhappy at her old school and just been told a girl died from there yesterday. It's a difficult time for them.

MarthasGinYard · 05/09/2018 19:51

Op

TBH if dc really likes her Macci D's then seems a tad mean not to have taken her.

Dc has eat there almost every day these holidays. TBH I think it's pretty healthy now they put the calorie counts on the menu....

Tried to give her a mini milk when she came home and she turned her nose up as it wasn't a McFlurry Hmm

southnownorth · 05/09/2018 19:51

Bless her. It’s probably not about the Maccys she is just blaming her emotions on it.

My dd started secondary today and she is a bit shell shocked. It’s a big deal for them.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 05/09/2018 19:56

Twice a week though....
