To be so disappointed by GBBO

Leobynature · 04/09/2018 21:28

I use to love GBBO. I cannot get into it since it moved to Ch 4.
I’m not keen on Prue (doubt she has ever baked anything in her life)
Sandi is not funny
Noel looks like your mate from the pub who attended an interview far above his capabilities and got the job!

I miss Sue, Mel and Mary Berry

The thing i hate the most, beside everything about Paul Hollywood, is Prue's inevitable utterance, every episode about something being "worth the calories" or not. It's such a terrible (and tedious) way to think about food.

Sammysquiz · 04/09/2018 21:35

Yeah, I agree. I get bored in it now, that never used to happen!

Maybugger · 04/09/2018 21:38

I think it sounds so contrived and has definitely lost it's appeal for me. The contestants seem a bit lost at times, which I don't recall in previous episodes.

Pissedoffdotcom · 04/09/2018 21:39

Ah i love it! Always loved Noel so his presence is fab for me 🙈🙈

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 04/09/2018 21:40

I'm just watching tonight's episode and thought the same. I'm trying hard to get in to it but it's all just so meh now

CrispbuttyNo1 · 04/09/2018 21:41

I much prefer sandi and Noel. I found Sue and Mel very irritating.

I prefer the c4 series.

Nuggetsandwich · 04/09/2018 21:41

I love Prue.

stayathomer · 04/09/2018 21:41

Loved it before and don't think it quite matches up but think they've done a decent job with the replacements they've made

Love the new team. Prefer them to be honest, never been a Mel and Sue fan.

PrincessConsuelaBannanaHammock · 04/09/2018 21:48

I don't think it's quite as good either. I find myself on mumsnet or playing on my phone whilst it's on now, and I would never have done that before

Keely71 · 04/09/2018 21:49

Prefer it now. Couldn’t stand Mel & Sue.

whiteroseredrose · 04/09/2018 21:50

I like it now. Couldn't stand Mel and Sue but like Noel and Sandy.

SlartiAardvark · 04/09/2018 21:51

Mel is the death knell of any program for me - can't stand her & refuse to watch her.

I really like the C4 lineup & atmosphere....

MrsChollySawcutt · 04/09/2018 21:52

Don't mind Sandi and Noel individually but they don't gel as a double act.

I can't bear sleazy Paul H and I haven't warmed to Prue so it's a no from me.

altiara · 04/09/2018 21:52

Bloody hell, forgot to watch it.

LEMtheoriginal · 04/09/2018 21:52

Prefer noel and sandi. Just paul and pru that can fuck off

SlartiAardvark · 04/09/2018 21:52

Sorry - Sue is the death knell, Mel is just mildly irritating.....

Got them mixed up.

IStillMissBlockbuster · 04/09/2018 21:53

Why do you say that Prue Leith hasn't baked anything in her life?

HashTagLil · 04/09/2018 21:55

Loved it on BBC and still watch old re-runs of it. We refuse to watch it since it moved to Channel 4.

ToffeePennie · 04/09/2018 21:56

No sue, no Mel, no Mary. Never heard of these new “presenters” so I doubt any of them have baked a thing ever. I watched half of one episode of the “new” gbbo and had to switch off it was so terrible

Harleyisme · 04/09/2018 21:57

I miss it on BBC . Haven't watched any of this year's and only managed a few episodes of last year's. It's not the same and they have ruined it it's needs to go back to the old way.

Hillarious · 04/09/2018 21:58

Loved it on the BBC. Love it on Channel 4. It always seems a bit chaotic when there are so many contestants at the beginning. Shame they did chocolate when it was so hot in the tent.

WellAlwaysHaveParis · 04/09/2018 21:58

YANBU - I can’t get into it either. I really enjoyed it when it was on the BBC and actually miss Mel and Sue :(

CrispbuttyNo1 · 04/09/2018 21:58

“Never heard of these new “presenters” so I doubt any of them have baked a thing ever”

I suggest you look up Prue and see the vast range of experiences she has in the food industry then.
