New thread and still wondering why there has been no apology or acknowledgement of the incident in Loose Women last week.

Shane Ritchie was born Shane Patrick Roche. Coleen Nolan and him had two sons, Shane and Jake (both actor/singers it seems). Jake is Jake Roche. I can find nothing that he has said about the matter, not one thing. Nolan’s sisters are suspiciously quiet also.

Shane junior used the name Shane Ritchie like his father. He recently changed his name to Shane Nolan because he said people expected him to be like his famous father or something (don't really understand his reasoning when he swapped it for another surname in the public eye but perhaps he reasoned Nolan wasn’t as well known). He has been, until recently, very vocal about the LW incident, tweeting abuse about Kim Woodbury and viewers.

When he changed his name, if it really was because he wanted to stop the association with his famous dad, why go to Nolan? Smacks of taking sides... I wonder whether he regrets it now as he will be tarred with the Nolan brush.

Why didn’t he go with Roche? Shane Roche? Or a new name altogether?

beingthere · 08/09/2018 09:58

Just realised I knew nothing of the Nolans a couple of weeks ago. I now know about the benefit fraud, the stealing, the family feuds, the bankruptcy, the prostitution thing (weird) and even the name of Coleen’s sons.

They certainly raised their profile this week.

ShatnersWig · 08/09/2018 10:33

@beingthere You left out the homophobia from the list

RockYourSocksOff · 08/09/2018 10:37

I imagine CN bitterly regrets having her sister on the show with her. IMO LN was just nasty. CN whispering about KW when she was crying was awful. The whole interview was uncomfortable.

I do wonder what the people behind the scenes were saying to the LW panellists that day. They have ear pieces, they have guidance sometimes. What do you imagine they were being told to do? Don’t know much about live tv though. Maybe nothing was said at all.

I think CN’s career will really struggle after this. I can’t help but feel sorry for her, felt the same about RP. Just don’t like the atmosphere on social media of kicking someone when they’re down, whoever they are, whatever they’ve done because doesn’t that then make us as bad as what they’re being accused of? Doesn’t mean I like them or their actions. Think it’s all gone too far now.

ShatnersWig · 08/09/2018 10:37

From The Sun this morning: "Coleen Nolan's Never Too Late tour had only sold a quarter of tickets when the singer decided to cancel it following the abuse she's received for her row on Loose Women with Kim Woodburn"

Total and utter rubbish. I saw the seating plans of most of the venues before they went off line and after someone posted them on here. Not one venue had sold remotely close to a quarter of their seats. Most wouldn't even had reached 10%.

beingthere · 08/09/2018 10:49

A friend has just said if the Roxanne car crash thing had been in the States, and queried as it is now, the celeb would wheel out an expert who would talk about minor trauma being magnified in the brain and would quote a little known but existing condition that covered all the bases. Celeb would go into treatment for a while, come out after the illness was under control and do the “i was in hell” chatshow circuit.

If the LW show had occured in the states, the presenters would have either apologised en masse (safety in numbers) or they would all set upon each other a la Real Housewives and make a show out of the feud. Either could be staged.

The returns are too big just to give up and go.

Oh and then there’s the book sales.

ShatnersWig · 08/09/2018 10:50

RP's "high speed" car crash they had her airlifted to hospital is now under close scrutiny too....

Viviennemary · 08/09/2018 11:03

What a blatant lie that a quarter of the tickets had sold. It was nowhere near. Some venues had barely two rows filled and a tiny handful dotted round. I did think at the time they would cancel some shows but didn't think the whole thing would be cancelled so quickly.

And how pathetic to say it's because of this. It isn't. The sales would have been poor anyway IMHO. This didn't help of course. If I was a fan I would have still booked to see the show. I agree an apology on masse would have been far the most dignified and sensible thing to do. But it's hardly a dignified or sensible programme so no surprise really.

beingthere · 08/09/2018 11:04

The Sun has given CN a hard time through this last couple of weeks. I presume it’s because CN writes for the Mirror so she’s fair game, she’s never going to give an exclusive to them.

ShatnersWig · 08/09/2018 11:07

@beingthere So why would The Sun now be kind and say sales were as good as a quarter when clearly they weren't? And, actually, a quarter after just a few days for a tour that wasn't until 2019 for someone who isn't a big name, actually wouldn't have been a bad start at all.

beingthere · 08/09/2018 11:18

Viviennemary I think the returns aren’t big enough here. If CN et al were losing millions they might have swallowed their pride.

beingthere · 08/09/2018 11:21

ShatnersWig haven’t found article yet but lazy journalism? Perhaps that’s what they were told and CN isn’t a big enough nane for them to check. Also, with comments by readers in papers these days, the real story is always in the comments!

beingthere · 08/09/2018 11:23

Found article now

www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/7207117/coleen-nolan-solo-tour-cancelled/amp/

Headline says less than, article doesn’t.

southeastdweller · 08/09/2018 11:26

The returns are too big just to give up and go.

In terms of the Loose Women show, yep. I bet that's why most of the LW panellists have said nothing about it, because they don't want to risk their well-paid jobs and the LW brand. Some of them (I think there's a dozen at the moment) surely must agree with what the majority of people think about the whole debacle. I notice that gob almighty Jane Moore didn't mention it in her weekly column on Wednesday in The Sun.

5Yearplan4000 · 08/09/2018 11:27

Overall it’s been a tawdry episode for ITV and although some might say this has rumbled on for nearly 2 weeks and been overblown, what has emerged has been quite important. the level of disquiet from the public about the nature of these shows and the line which gets crossed between “tv world entertainment” and actual, real life hurt will I hope lead tv bosses to learn from this and stop setting up people for harm.

beingthere · 08/09/2018 11:33

southeastdweller No not like LW! I’m talking millions of dollars not pin money.

LW had 15 presenters (presumably 14 now) and they are all paid the same rate. It’s not a lot! Look how often CN was on but she can’t even afford to keep her home.

beingthere · 08/09/2018 11:36

Posted too soon...

But it’s a job, an easy one if you’re not a bitch, and keeps your face known, so Katie Price, Stacey S can top up their normal income with a bit of pocket money. People like the Nolans can make an average living. CN can’t afford to buy a farm, she’s not well paid!

southeastdweller · 08/09/2018 11:46

Not well-paid? Of course she was. We're talking ITV here!

beingthere · 08/09/2018 11:50

southeastdweller Ah, I think we are talking from different perspectives. What is high for some is not for others.

If you google you may get the salaries. Some presenters in the U.K. make in a year what some presenters in the states make in a show.

Viviennemary · 08/09/2018 11:59

I wonder how much they get paid per episode and if they're all paid the same. I can't see LW surviving this. It's really a tired old show now.

southeastdweller · 08/09/2018 12:01

Yes that's true. I'd estimate the LW panellists would earn £150 - £200K. Apparently Whoopi Goldberg who hosts The View in America earns $2,000,000K.

beingthere · 08/09/2018 12:03

Quote from CN “If I bought a two-up, two-down somewhere I could afford to retire. But what have I worked all my life for?”

A Liverpool two up two down? Or even Cheshire? She does not earn big money!

beingthere · 08/09/2018 12:04

Viviennemary paid per episode and all the same. Lots about it if you google, but salary not shown.

ShatnersWig · 08/09/2018 12:05

Yet in OK magazine in 2017 it stated CN had an estimated net worth of £3m. Wonder where they got that from?

Argeles · 08/09/2018 12:13

I’ve been away and have heard lots of hearsay and gossip about the Coleen v Kim row, but haven’t seen the full video. I’d like to see it so that I can make up my own mind.

Could anyone message me please with the full video?

I can only find short clips online. Thanks.
