New thread and still wondering why there has been no apology or acknowledgement of the incident in Loose Women last week.

CN definitely handled it badly she should have apologised the next day, I do believe she was retaliating to Kims approach, she was wrong for minimising Kims past.

Kim is going to be in the public eye lots more and will show her true colours, she is a name calling, bully IMO.

5Yearplan4000 · 07/09/2018 23:07

Winding people up and then, when they have a quite justifiably angry reaction, and then accusing them of “showing their true colours” - when they are being angry- is a classic bullying tactic and exactly what happened to Kim in the clip. Odious and shameful. And clear as day what was happening - group bullying of one vulnerable individual.

Which show/s is she doing?

Do you really think she’ll wreck her career a la CN from now on? Do you think anyone will in the foreseeable future? I don’t. I think people will be wary, and Kim (whom I don’t know a lot about but seems to have similar support to CN in that people seem to love her or hate her) knows better than anyone not to say if you want to keep the public onside.

notthepartyfairy · 08/09/2018 00:25

Why are posters accusing others of “rubbing their hands in glee” at Nolan’s predicament and being bullies themselves because they stated they didn’t like her actions?

No one is laughing or whooping (like they did at Kim) on this thread. The seating plans were very informative, they are not a made up meme or photoshopped picture, they were simply factual screen grabs to show that the sales weren’t going well and that the tour might close. Which it did.

They are comments, just comments. It’s quite rude to accuse the poster of meanness just because you don’t like the content.

Tomatoesrock · 08/09/2018 00:30

The producers are guilty of winding them all up, it was a stupid idea. I do not agree how KW was treated, though I think CN got wound up and over reacted.

Having watched the clips on Youtube of KW blowing up, name calling on various programmes, She is a tough cookie, not weak and defenseless. CN will pay for her actions and she won't be the first or the last to kill her career.

notthepartyfairy · 08/09/2018 01:11

Someone hacked Kim’s wiki page and said she was dead. Not nice.

Coleen, that sweet little innocent.

Encouraged her husband (at the time) to have paid sex in Amsterdam saying:

"I said, Ray will have to go with you', and he said, Well then, Ray might sleep with a prostitute too'.

'Oh, that's all right, it's only a prostitute'. I wouldn't throw away the father of my children and all that for the sake of lads being lads."

As the crowd gasped, she added: "As long as he comes back and tells me about it. I'm not joking, I'd love it. There's something a little bit kinky about me."

(note the only a prostitute bit, they're not a real human being)

Something else i cant understand is this..................these presenters grew up in and remember the times of classic TV (am currently watching Shine On Harvey Moon on Forces TV (Linda Robson was in it) I remember this first time round when i was a kid. Im 45 so growing up i remember lots of classic stuff like Robin of Sherwood on a Saturday night.

Surely they (the LW panel crew and those involved with other reality shows) can see what TV has become . Arent they at least a bit sad about it. I know i am.

If Robin of Sherwood was made now its likely it would be on Netflix.

its a real shame that TV has sunk this low

And thats why i havent signed the CN petition. Its a CULTURE wide problem.

Its all about ratings now

lightonthewater · 08/09/2018 02:42

Helena - you are so right. The very existence of programmes like BB and Love Island are proof that something is very wrong with society. LW does not resemble the programme it was at the start. TV has become such a dumbed down Gladiatorial embarrassment. It is really sad.

FoxFoxSierra · 08/09/2018 03:31

That was me notthepartyfairy and I didn't say it exactly like that! I stepped away from the thread for a while because I felt uncomfortable with the way people were taking pleasure in how things had turned out for CN, it seemed to be snowballing and like people were being egged on by other posts. I was starting to feel a bit sorry for CN, not that she really deserves sympathy! I acknowledged that they all behaved like absolute bitches on lw which is me stating that I don't like her actions. It doesn't seem fair to me that all of this is being pinned on one person when there were 4 people there - Linda Nolan was far worse than Coleen imo plus producers who set the whole thing up. Don't take my comments out of context and use that to call me rude, thanks

mewsmewsmews · 08/09/2018 03:47

My take:

The tour has been in discussion for a long long time.

The Kim slot was a set up by producers and Coleen Nolan. Nolan wanted to raise her profile for the tour so this was a way to remind the paying public that she won cbb. The producers knew the two names together would get viewers in case it kicked off.

Producers suggested Linda on the show, who jumped at the chance, knowing that Linda was out for revenge and thus it had more chance of kicking off.

So basically the Nolans were puppets, Kim was bait.

Producers let the panel, especially Coleen Nolan taken the flack for the resulting mess.

When it started to look bad, producers drafted in Jonathon Ross as a snub to viewers to show that anyone can make a comeback despite public opinion against them (ten years previously Ross had been subject to similar public outcry).

Nolan was advised to hold back announcing the tour in the days following the disastrous LW show. However, too much money had gone into the promotion and it went ahead with predictable results.

Several Nolans are represented by the agent who handles Colleen. The family is at war about whether they should stay.

Kim will tell the truth and the full story if she ever feels the time is right.

Helena - I totally agree that TV has gone downhill horribly - it has started thrashing about in the bottom of a very filthy pool. The series and plays (Wednesday Play, anyone - Armchair Theatre - remember them?) are long gone. They not only provided excellent entertainment but gave many young acton the opportunity to show and develop their craft, and catch the eye of producers - whether to not an actor does well now seems to depend less on their ability and more on being part of an acting "dynasty" or getting a chance break that they can capitalise on.

The problem is, this sort of "entertainment" is comparatively cheap, it's easy to churn out (no scriptwriters, no costumes, no re-takes etc) and it seems to draw in the viewers - it appeals to the lowest common denominator in human nature. Instead of raising the standards of people's entertainment requirements, it lowers them and encourages vicarious pleasure in other people's sexual activities and in their humiliation and bullying.

Sadly, this spills over into RL, and behaviour which once wouldn't have been acceptable becomes the norm. This is then reflected in the way we behave towards each other in society - the rudeness, the violence - the just "not caring". Unfortunately, letting standards slip is easy - raising them again is another matter.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 08/09/2018 08:04

It doesn't seem fair to me that all of this is being pinned on one person when there were 4 people there - Linda Nolan was far worse than Coleen imo plus producers who set the whole thing up.

A few of us have mentioned this FoxFox, myself included. I do think that Coleen was thrown to the wolves, and that her so-called "friends" have been very careful not to attract any of the indignation towards themselves.

I daresay that when it blows over they will come slithering out of their burrows again.

You could be on the ball here Mews - Linda Nolan seems to be viperous. An incredibly spiteful and vindictive individual from the (admittedly little) I know of her.

SusanneLinder · 08/09/2018 08:18

I watched KW on Big Brother, she was vile and was so aggressive that security had to be brought in. It was uncomfortable to watch! This wasn't just at CN, at every housemate! I wondered if she was well, because she had been in the jungle and was a bit of a sweetheart in there so didn't understand the change in personality, although Aggie said they don't speak.
I think LW was a bloody set up. They put a woman with "issues" on this programme for "entertainment" and now CN gets the backlash. I am not a fan of CN, and she should have apologised, but I am really not getting the total hate for her. It was a bloody set up, and the producers of this "show" should hang their heads in shame!

SusanneLinder · 08/09/2018 08:22

And yes LN was worse, but wtf did the producers expect would happen...Hmm
Vile show!

beingthere · 08/09/2018 08:27

I wonder who dropped out of the lineup when they knew who was going on the show? I’m surprised “Judge Janet” wasn’t savvy enough.

It occurred to me that the comedic “Judge Janet” shouldn’t be used on the show again.

The two “Loose Women” who have given public support for Nolan (Kaye and Janet) don’t seem to realise that a line was crossed. Odd.

Any controversial guests could bring up the incident to gag the panel. They might not even have to mention it. They have backed themselves into a corner.

I wonder if Coleen Nolan had annoyed someone working on the show and they sought revenge.

Schadenfreude
Sadly, this spills over into RL, and behaviour which once wouldn't have been acceptable becomes the norm.

I think a similar thing happened on the show. The “loose women” got riskier and riskier (sort of like playing the clown to get attention) that they stopped knowing where the line was.

And full circle back to my first point, I wonder if the savier women are “busy” on the days the clown ones are on the show because they knew this was going to happen?

FoxFoxSierra · 08/09/2018 08:34

Spot on mewsmews! What I really hate about this whole thing is that lots of people will have been tuning in to see if any apology materialises, thus pushing the ratings up which the producers will be seeing as a positive and taking credit for Angry

beingthere · 08/09/2018 08:37

beingthere · 08/09/2018 08:47

There may have been an increase for this week but once it’s realised that they are not mentioning it anymore it’ll die off again. Plus there is always attrition and gain due to peer pressure. If people get sneered at for mentioning it round the water cooler, they’ll soon stop. The programme is definitely in sneering territory, I’ve seen the sneering!

They must think their audiences have single digit I.Q's to be taken in by him ostensibly plugging his chat show (which started last week Hmm). I can see why his career recovered - he has talent, plus social media wasn't as big of a thing now. Something else that won't help CN is that there's more awareness these days of mental health.

Magicmonster · 08/09/2018 09:22

Totally agree with all the comments about one of the main problems here being what classes as entertainment on tv these days. So many programmes like big brother and love island are such trash and thrive off people being bitchy and back stabbing and creating a completely unrealistic idea of how young people should look (but that’s a whole other debate!)
