New thread and still wondering why there has been no apology or acknowledgement of the incident in Loose Women last week.

5minutes - I would say she did actually. It was odd. That is my perception of the situation. you clearly have a different one, no need to call my POV immature because you don't agree.

Dorcha · 02/09/2018 10:51

She called Nolan 'stupid' a 'con artist' and 'trash'. Does that not count as bullying?

obviouslyperfect · 02/09/2018 10:55

What’s happened? The poll just had a huge surge. Was something mentioned on the radio or tv? Can’t see any new news online??

OP posts:
obviouslyperfect · 02/09/2018 11:04

Dorcha I would class that as a fight, they were both calling each other names and Kim at least was on the back foot having had ominous music played over her entrance and Coleen being the host of the show she was on.

However, when an elderly woman cries and references her abuse, the name calling should have stopped. THAT is when it turned into bullying. That is what thousands of people are objecting to.

It was cruel and no apology has been made for it.

OP posts:
Dorcha · 02/09/2018 11:28

Obviously- yes I agree with you on that. It was uncalled for and the whole show ill thought out. As a separate thing, I do think Kim Woodburn is a nasty piece of work, a bully and should not be put on television for various reasons. I suppose the problem is it gets people watching/talking, hence this thread.

DunkandEggAgain · 02/09/2018 11:29

I think that not apologising is the best of the worst for LW. It's hateful.
There's nothing they can say in the apology as in, "here at LW we always put our guests first/we would never bully/we would never willingly upset an individual invited onto our show etc" where the public wouldn't say "erm, no you DID bully/no you DID bait/we HEARD the jest and belittlement in response to the abuse etc etc" so that's not an option. If they fully own up to what they did and said then they admit they were in the wrong and then that leaves them open to...sueing maybe? Disciplinary action? Jobs lost? So I reckon they have to keep strum and pretend it never happened and sit tight until it blows over.

Naughtykitty · 02/09/2018 11:32

She cancelled her appearance on CBB Bit on the Side. She sent a message in saying that she was sorry to cancel but needed some time away with her husband. She also said that she had been told about the support lots of the public have given her and was thankful.

knittedwoollenmouse · 02/09/2018 11:57

KW doesn’t come across as a bully. She comes across as someone who needs others to behave honestly and she seems hugely frustrated and angry by the immature and bitchy behaviour that appeared to have taken place in the BB house.

She’s easily wound up and very distressed by her past which is understandable.

Her behaviour looks like meltdowns to me and I say that as someone who is autistic. I’ve resorted to completely losing the plot, insulting and being unable to express myself coherently when I’m having a meltdown. Meltdowns are not tantrums or bullying, they come from a place of great frustration and defence.

Wind ‘em up and watch ‘em go is how people like the Nolans behave and then dare to be angry when someone retaliates.

rwalker · 02/09/2018 12:00

The problem is she is constantly on the attack and won't listen and just shouts over anyone .

Dorcha · 02/09/2018 12:07

Naughtykitty - on the contrary, she expresses herself very clearly. She zones in on someone, verbally attacks them using all sorts of abusive language. She then belittles them and tells them to shut up when they defend themselves/their opinion

Dorcha · 02/09/2018 12:10

Her sex and age should not be used as an excuse for her behaviour. If a man in his 30's behaved the way she had there would be uproar. Calling women silly little bitches etc..

QueenieMum · 02/09/2018 12:11

@obviouslyperfect there's an article in Mail Online the day about the petition reaching 11,000 signatures, maybe that's given it a boost?

NoelHeadbands · 02/09/2018 12:30

The petition is now almost at 15,000

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 02/09/2018 12:38

Ive long thought that KW was autistic and just hasn’t announced it to all and sundry. She looked like she was having a meltdown to me, I didn’t see the whole show, just the bit with CN and her sister.m

I can have meltdowns (also autistic) if a I feel overwhelmed and attacked.

Loose Women is an awful show at the best of times but this just demonstrated how shallow and vacuous it is along with many of its presenters. Shallow silly women with nothing much to brag about mixed in with occasional excellent presenters. Get it gone from television and stop funding these imbeciles.

Freewheelin74 · 02/09/2018 12:43

I loved the bit where Linda Nolan commented "I've sold x amount of records". Yes but Linda you were a one hit wonder and that record was shite. A load of harpies preying on someone who seemed to be emotionally scarred. Awful viewing.

Freewheelin74 · 02/09/2018 12:47

DeloresJaneUmbridge that's interesting though. Puerile behaviour from those women. Colleen and her army should hang their heads in shame as well as that idiot son of hers (called Kim a fruitloop on twitter). The panel has no dignity at all.

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 02/09/2018 13:02

Her sex and age should not be used as an excuse for her behaviour. If a man in his 30's behaved the way she had there would be uproar. Calling women silly little bitches etc

Yes I thought this exactly - imagine a man (of any age) being allowed to get away with yelling and his pointing finger in a young girl's face calling her 'a nasty bitch of a girl' and to another 'i think you're a little bitch, a rude little bitch'. Appalling. Everyone would say that he deserved what he got on LW.

GloGirl · 02/09/2018 13:12

Someone on the previous thread had it right when they said it reminded them of a classroom. All the kids start riling up the "naughty boy" in the class, who is prone to anger and violence and a thoroughly easy target. They turn the screw, watch him flip out and then complain to teacher.

They do it as it's entertainment and because they can get away with it.

PrickWhittington · 02/09/2018 13:27

Ive long thought that KW was autistic and just hasn’t announced it to all and sundry.

I can't see that at all. Some similar forms of dysfunction maybe, but trauma related rather than any form of autism., similar clusters of behaviour but with a different root cause. If people wanted to label her anger, I'd say BPD rage rather than a 'meltdown'. (that said, I reckon in this instance that was justified anger rather than rage, and completely logical given the level of provocation.)

TBH, even if KW had not disclosed any of her upbringing or the abuse she suffered, I would have guessed at it anyway for lots of reasons - the overcompensatory maladaptive behaviours, defensiveness, and especially the dysregulated emotional responses.

I think a PP poster put it much better than me when they said they thought she was mentally scarred, not 'mentally ill' (not saying autism is a mental illness either btw).

I think this article someone posted on the last thread makes it clear why any of this would be lost on CN and co though:

www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/denise-welch-hits-back-coleen-1981843

Her attitude in that matter show a stunning lack of understanding of MH issues and quite Fran key she should not be allowed a job that allows her to discuss MH matters unless or until she is willing to educate herself about them.

I thought she was OK before, very boring and self pitying in the CBB house maybe , and certainly not a worthy winner, but OK. I now see an ignorant, sexist, homophobic bully who seems to have a very strange relationship with her son as well as a lack of boundaries. Nasty.

PrickWhittington · 02/09/2018 13:29

*frankly!!

obviouslyperfect · 02/09/2018 13:29

Ahh, petition and silence mentioned on the radio so people are presumably searching and signing at those times. (It was averaging 200 signatures an hour this time yesterday, now it’s three hundred an hour.

It seems the petition and the lack of apology or even comment has become the story now.

Silly silly people.

Am failing to understand all this defence of the woman. She's vile

I'm with you. She'd start an argument in an empty room.

PrickWhittington · 02/09/2018 13:32

Everyone would say that he deserved what he got on LW.

What makes you think you can speak for everyone? Confused

HelloToYou · 02/09/2018 13:35

It was NOT bullying

smashyourglasses · 02/09/2018 13:39

Why are people so quick to leap the defense of bullies, low lifes and other assorted narcissists? So bizarre Confused
