New thread and still wondering why there has been no apology or acknowledgement of the incident in Loose Women last week.

This has turned really nasty. I hated the interview and I agree that they were absolute bitches to KW but are we really stooping to wishing someone's career turns to shit? Really?! How can you claim any kind of moral high ground while you're rubbing your hands together and chuckling at someone's misery?

Most sensible post on here.

What the fuck were people doing putting up seat arena ticket plans?? Are we teenagers?

My knee jerk reaction on seeing that interview was the opposite to most of you it seems but we are all entitled to our opinions.
This thread has detracted from any serious points people may have made about the production of the show with over the top ' Hang your head in shame' bollocks.

SallySideEye · 07/09/2018 13:42

I don't think it's turned that nasty sideburns, nothing compared to other social media.

Maybe people should think and reflect on the shitshow that started it and maybe we'll get somewhere.

5Yearplan4000 · 07/09/2018 13:46

For those with direct experience of bullying I don’t think most of the comments are over the top at all. Many, many people have been genuinely upset and expressed great disquiet about the conduct of this type of behaviour on a national tv show. The type of behaviour shown just has no place on television. I’m sure most people agree with that . Sure you get the odd one or two ott posts here - it being the internet and all that - but by and large the discussion over these threads has been very sensible here with people sharing their experiences and thoughts in a very reasonable, if shocked way.

RonniePickering · 07/09/2018 13:49

I'm aware of the shitshow that started it, this rabble rousing is ridiculous now.

SallySideEye · 07/09/2018 13:50

Is it rabble-rousing or actually trying to sort it out?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 07/09/2018 13:53

are we really stooping to wishing someone's career turns to shit?

If CN was a doctor and deliberately took inappropriate action that damaged a patient, or a lawyer who deliberately sabotaged a client's case, or a teacher who deliberately destroyed the self-esteem of a student, then we would all agree that they shouldn't be in that job.

Why is being a "host" who belittles and undermines a guest on the show any different. Coleen has damaged Coleen's career. Nobody else. She'll survive - but I hope she won't get this sort of role again, because she isn't the right person for it.

I am only sorry that the others involved haven't also been called to task.

FlintyBadman · 07/09/2018 13:55

I've just taken a look at the 'Kim Woodbine' account on Twitter. I can't believe that people like Dippy Debbie think it's really her ffs.

birdsdestiny · 07/09/2018 14:03

But it's not the same as a doctor or teacher, unless the hospital and the school had a policy that encourages this type of behaviour.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 07/09/2018 14:11

I accept your argument birdsdestiny, except that ultimately we all have to take responsibility for our own behaviour.

If something is wrong, it is wrong, and we can't hide behind the fact the other people encouraged us to do it, or are also doing it.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 07/09/2018 14:14

Surely "Debbie" isn't real either Flinty

I mean - could anyone really be that stupid, and yet manage to remember to breathe in and out?

birdsdestiny · 07/09/2018 14:17

But then threads like this have acheived nothing, if the real aim is to stop bullying, and I am a bit sceptical about that, but if that is the aim, then CN or RP never working again won't achieve that. If CBB and loose women continues it or something like it will happen again and again.

Teenageromance · 07/09/2018 15:33

The whole LW team have been tarnished by this. Their whole act is that they are a bunch of good friends sitting round having a batter but when none of them have addresses this issue it all seems completely fake and hollow. I hope the whole show is pulled and I used to be a fan a few years ago.

Teenageromance · 07/09/2018 15:34

*natter

ShatnersWig · 07/09/2018 15:39

I find it astonishing that they've avoided the whole subject for over a week until now, and then the only thing they can say is sending love to CN who is a brilliant Loose Woman.

Such arrogance and hypocrisy.

"It’s a spiral that’s all too common, and one that was thrown into sharp relief last month, when 2016 Love Island contestant Sophie Gradon was found dead, aged just 32. Only a few months earlier, she had revealed that online trolls had caused her to ‘descend into a dark place’ and warned that they were causing ‘kids as young as nine [to take] their own lives’. Her co-star Zara Holland admitted that the show had left her feeling ‘haunted and depressed’, having been stripped of her Miss Great Britain title for having sex on-screen. And that’s just in the UK: last week, a Russian reality TV star took her own life after falling into depression and misusing drugs, while in the US, in 2016 it was reported that 21 reality stars have committed suicide in the last decade"

birdsdestiny · 07/09/2018 16:15

Thanks Helena, although thanks seems the wrong word. I had a vague memory that something had happened in another country on a Jeremy Kyle type show that led to murder, I had no idea of the scale of it.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 07/09/2018 16:33

I have a feeling it was Gerry Springer's show birds

Where I was sat, it was KW goading, shouting and interrupting. CN did this too to an extent, but had Kim not come out shouting at her and calling her names I imagine she would not have!

You can’t imagine something wouldn’t have happened to try and defend someone! That’s pathetic!

I could say if Coleen had been sweetness and light I imagine Linda would have slapped her and JSP would have told her to fuck off. You can’t just go around making things up to suit your argument 😂

HelenaDove · 07/09/2018 16:42

The above article that i have linked demonstrates that the problem is the reality TV we have today. (its worth reading the full article)

I havent signed the CN petition because she is just part of a wider problem. We do have a bullying culture today and this kind of TV normalizes it as a pp said.

A young woman who is a mobility scooter user is getting bullying abusive tweets from Northern Rail employees due to standing up for herself against their discriminatory policies.

It has had some publicity but not as much as this has.

Member869894 · 07/09/2018 17:41

I am really baffled by this thread. I just don't see that KW was bullied.

schoolboyerrors · 07/09/2018 17:50

even Janet Street Porter had to say - directed at Linda Nolan “ let’s stop this slagging off for a moment please” when her shouting at Kim threatened to get even more aggressive.

Janet SP also says to the Nolans “we can get back to it” (the slagging off) “let her (Kim) have her say. That’s what JSP thought the audience wanted to see, a public verbal flogging, and “judge Janet” was in charge of it. She knew she had to let Kim have a say, but didn’t want the flogging to stop. I have lost respect for her. She put ratings before someone’s feelings. Cold.

As for Linda Nolan, I’ve lost several friends and family members to cancer and other terminal conditions, including both parents, my best friend and a sister who is ill right now. Not one of them said they wanted revenge before they died. LN does.

In a recent interview “But she wants that life to be as enjoyable as possible, partying with friends and family, and even enjoying a little revenge on those who’ve wronged her.”

“I would send out invitations saying ‘I don’t know how much longer I have left’ and it would be a chance to say goodbye.

“Not that I’m hell bent on revenge, but I’d also write to the people who have done me wrong over the years and let them know they’re not invited.”

www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/terminally-ill-linda-nolan-plans-12122029.amp

I think that gives an insight into the family mentality, certainly into Linda herself. She wants revenge against people who have wronged her. I think that is what she was doing on the LW programme. Getting revenge on Kim.

I am not judging LW for her wanting revenge btw. Who knows how any of us would react if we were told we had cancer. I do judge her for ganging up with Coleen and picking on Kim when it wasn’t her fight. And calling her out, trying to embarrass her for being a cleaner. That’s not “revenge” against someone who has wronged you, that’s meanness. It didn’t even work. They didn’t get revenge. Coleen lost her career and Linda part (a la Jade Goody) will be mentioned in her obituary.

schoolboyerrors · 07/09/2018 17:55

What the fuck were people doing putting up seat arena ticket plans?? Are we teenagers?

They may well be. I don’t get your point.

I don’t think LW have a policy that encourages this type of behaviour. It’s some people in an office and it can happen anywhere.

I bet it’s already made a difference.

This thread and the last has given people a place to discuss their own bullying and a place to vent. The public have seen CN and RP lose their jobs. I believe that presenters will take note of that and tone it down in future regardless of what their producers tell them... there but for the grace of... and all that.

Magicmonster · 07/09/2018 18:07

‘Schoolboyerrors’ - I am indeed hypothesising about how it would have gone had KW not come out shouting and calling CN names. You are right, we will never know whether, had KW come out happy to engage in a calm debate, CN would have started being horrible of her own accord. I am merely guessing, based on the fact that CN sat and took the insults for a good few mins before retaliating.

If I simply give my opinion on this matter and you call me pathetic (without their being any previous bad blood between us) is that not more of an overreaction than CN had to KW?
