New thread and still wondering why there has been no apology or acknowledgement of the incident in Loose Women last week.

I was an early-doors complainer and gobsmacked it wasn't addressed earlier but also uncomfortable about the bully being bullied. A taste of her own medicine, yes, but trolls bringing up her sister's illness etc? Did someone really do that? If so then they've lost the argument by being worse than her original behaviour: thereby undermining the whole point of reacting to her being so publicly vile in the first place. I wonder if that actually happened or was a manufactured ITV troll?? I wouldn't be surprised.

ShatnersWig · 06/09/2018 09:51

@LadyRochfords I saw a lot of name calling at CN on Twitter - even calling her a vile cunt - and her son giving it back to people in the same vein even if they had merely been critical. But I never saw any actual wishing her dead - they may have gone via private message of course.

birdsdestiny · 06/09/2018 10:06

I would be surprised if it wasnt true. The comments on MN (a public forum) about Roxanne were vile, I would be astounded if both CN and Roxanne hadnt received those kind of messages.

AynRandTheObjectivist · 06/09/2018 10:10

I would be astonished if any public figure who did something unpleasant DIDN'T receive death threats or wishes, especially a woman. It is pretty standard.

whatsyourtalent · 06/09/2018 10:36

It’s interesting, the shouts of “I’ll fucking kill ya!” echoing down the highstreet on a Saturday night are largely ignored even by police unless a fight breaks out, but a death threat written down is sinister.

I haven't een any on any of the forms and I’ve read a LOT of the last few days Grin I would have reported them if I had. So I presume they were direct messages or on twitter and immediately removed.

Interesting article in light of what people were posting earlier in the thread

Meanwhile Nolan managed to appeal for sympathy whilst not really showing any remorse for what happened. Having said she regretted the incident Nolan added: “It’s just that, I don’t know what I did wrong. I didn’t say anything. I said about two things in that interview because I know what she’s like and I just thought, she needs help really.”

^ That opinion piece is the sort of thing JSP would have written before she sold out.

They've both messed up - Roxanne Pallett I think is far more 'dangerous' having form for these kinds of accusations and also that weird thing where she fell in the pool with Hardeep without him even touching her. Did anyone see that? So utterly bizarre.

I don't think there's any coming back for her to be honest, in terms of any kind of show business career. She also seems to have no support from any source apart from direct family and partner - even former co-stars don't have a good word to say about her.

Coleen Nolan on the other hand, whilst culpable ... was part of a set up which involved producers, her own sister and indeed her co-hosts on LW. I think in her case, there's a lot more pent up dislike of her due to perceived smugness, past comments and so on. If she takes a sabbatical for a while, I think she can come back from this. Public opinion is also far more divided - as evidenced by this thread.

If they are receiving death threats and so on via social media, there is no excuse or justification for it, but sadly we know, there are some sick people trolling the internet, and they won't be the first, nor the last, celebrities to receive such comments.

obviouslyperfect · 06/09/2018 17:21

As predicted, tour not going ahead

DearMrDilkington · 06/09/2018 17:22

Coleen has now "quit" loose women apparently.

obviouslyperfect · 06/09/2018 17:24

A pp found they had stopped selling tickets in the night so I presumed this would happen.

She’s saying it’s because she’s being bullied online but she only sold a handful of tickets at each venue so the promoters would have pulled out.

Latest tweet:

“Following the constant online bullying, trolling, and misrepresentation of her words, actions and re-actions, it is with sad regret that Coleen is taking an immediate hiatus from all her current commitments including Loose Women and postponing her Never Too Late solo concert tour.

“Coleen has spent 50 years in show-business and 18 years as one of the most loved members of the Loose Women panel, and has never been subjected to such a horrifying torrent of online abuse or such a heart-breaking attack on her reputation.

”Coleen is devastated to let her supporters and fans down, but is simply not strong enough to withstand this sort of constant and unfounded abuse, so she will be taking time out and spending it with her children and family where she feels loved and respected.

“She sends her love to everyone who has supported her and knows who she really is and plans to return when she feels stronger.”

What a silly billy she is.

I bet she regrets the snide comments now.

OP posts:
Justmuddlingalong · 06/09/2018 17:40

She appears to regret nothing. misrepresentation of her words, actions and re-actions.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 06/09/2018 17:42

Obviously hasn't learned a thing.

primoestate · 06/09/2018 17:42

Total witch hunt.
Don't support either K or C but the pushing for petitions and the herd mentality of many is too hard to swallow for me.
Smacks of bullying.
Quite ironic.......

obviouslyperfect · 06/09/2018 17:45

I wonder what the police are doing. She’s called them before (2013) about online abuse (twitter) apparently but can’t find anything about this time.

Jon Ronson's So You've Been Publicly Shamed would be very good for reading round about now.

NoelHeadbands · 06/09/2018 17:55

Oh to have a time machine eh?

I do think it's absolutely disgusting (and perhaps, somewhat telling?) that the Loose Women team appear to be happy to throw her to the dogs and let her take the fall. Has anything been mentioned on there at all?

If there's one small positive to come out of this though, it might make her gobshite son stop and think before he spouts off in future

heartsease68 · 06/09/2018 17:57

Witch hunt is obviously never good but equally bad would be the public viewing what happened as acceptable.

obviouslyperfect · 06/09/2018 17:59

AynRandTheObjectivist yes, think I’ll see if Audible has that.

CN's banner on her twitter page has been changed. To this. Seems like she's still spouting advice to others, while choosing to ignore it herself.

Or her twitter team are taking the piss.
