....wrapping paper
Cards
Handbags
Post
Plastic tat from party bags and McDonalds or pocket money spends
Batteries
Magazines / books that are on the go
Shoes that are almost constantly in use
On the back of my life hacks thread I’m realising I’ve no “home” for so many things
This is just a quick list after having wine but is by no means limited to just this. Surfaces seem to be covered with crap all the time and I can’t clean mess
Help!

Bags for life filled and put in cupboards

condepetie · 01/09/2018 20:54

In a box in the spare room's wardrobe for most of the Christmas tat.

Batteries on a shelf in the kitchen or in the computer desk drawer.

Post immediately opened and stored/binned as necessary.

Books on the coffee table if currently being read.

Shoes on the shoe rack in the hall coat cupboard. Handbags in the bottom of my wardrobe.

Faster · 01/09/2018 20:55

Wrapping paper - back of wardrobe
Cards - buy as I need
Handbags - bottom of wardrobe
Post - post rach in top of shoe cupboard
Plastic tat - not an issue. Sounds like it needs to go in the recycling/wheelie bin
Batteries - tootl box
Books - book case
Shoes - shoe cupboard, not in constant use live in the wardrobe/drawers in owners rooms.

I am ruthless. If it’s shit. Then it goes.

Watto1 · 01/09/2018 20:57

Wrapping paper - under the stairs
Handbags - also under the stairs
Cards - buy them as I need them
Post - usually dealt with or binned as it arrives but I do have a pile of paperwork on the side in the kitchen
Shoes - currently in middle of living room floor Blush
Batteries - shoe box in a kitchen cupboard.
Magazine/book - by my bed or by the bath.

Di11y · 01/09/2018 20:57

Wrapping paper - draw in bookcase cupboard in living room
Cards - in boxes on shelf in living room
Handbags - in shelf in wardrobe or in basket in hall Kallax unit
Post - clutters up the kitchen
Plastic tat - small basket in bedroom, once full there's a cull
Batteries - box on top of bookcase away from kids
Shoes - in kallax unit in hall

Ikea is my saviour!

AGrinWithoutACat · 01/09/2018 20:58

wrapping paper - on top of the dresser in the dining room
Cards - in a pocket in the filing cabinet
Handbags - wardrobe or coat hook
Post - on the kitchen counter the binned or filed
Plastic tat from party bags and McDonalds or pocket money spends - in a random toy box / the bin / charity shop
Batteries - drawer in kitchen - also has torches, lightbulbs, glue, string etc
Magazines / books that are on the go - in the living room/ kitchen counter / car / bedside table :)
Shoes that are almost constantly in use - wardrobe or on feet

Penninepain · 01/09/2018 20:58

wrapping paper - Under bed storage box ( bizarrely stored on top of wardrobe)
Cards - see above
Handbags - keep 3 or 4 out to rotate, the rest are stored in suitcase on shelf in wardrobe
Post - read and binned, filed or pinned on board
Plastic tat from party bags and McDonalds or pocket money spends - pretty wicker basket, high up on bookcase. It gets emptied into bin every few weeks if no one has asked for contents.
Batteries - dedicated kitchen drawer, known as the drawer of shit.
Magazines / books that are on the go - on top of coffee table, or on shelf under coffee table
Shoes that are almost constantly in use - square padded box which doubles as pouffe. We have several, useful as additional seating too (Dunelm buy)

Bandol · 01/09/2018 20:58

Batteries in a dedicated Really Useful Box (and a dedicated small box for used batteries awaiting disposal)
Plastic tat - each child has a small plastic lidded box for this. I do regular emptying of a few bits from the boxes into another box when they aren't around. If it isn't missed in a month it gets binned, broken stuff goes straight in the bin.
Wrapping paper rolls in a wardrobe. Next to rolls I have a bag with folded paper, gift bags, tags and ribbons.

Di11y · 01/09/2018 20:58

Xmas paper in the loft, books on bedside table or bookcase

aspoonfulofyourownmedicine · 01/09/2018 21:01

Wrapping paper - Birthday Wrapping paper is in my room down the side of the wardrobe, between the wall/wardrobe side
Cards - In a big soap&glory box on top of my wardrobe
Handbags - Hanging on hooks in the inside of airing cupboard door
Post - Gets read, filed or binned. Most bills are online now so I have minimum post anywayl
Plastic tat - Depends on what it is. If it's shite, I bin it, if it's crap little toys, DS keeps them for so long then I tip the whole tub in the charity bag and drop them off at the charity shop
Batteries - Drawer of TV cabinet in mine & DH bedroom
Shoes - Airing cupboard

BikeRunSki · 01/09/2018 21:02

...wrapping paper - propped up in a corner behind a cupboard in living room
Cards - in a box on a bookshelf
Handbags - hang in back of bedroom door, but I am not a handbaggy person
Post - open it, deal with it, bin it
Plastic tat from party bags and McDonalds or pocket money spends - DCs have a drawer each for this type of junk, which i rationalise from time to time
Batteries - Tupperware box in kitchrn cupboard
Magazines / books that are on the go - by bed, on coffee table, in bag..,
Shoes that are almost constantly in use - bench by front door.

aspoonfulofyourownmedicine · 01/09/2018 21:03

Christmas wrapping paper is stored in the loft.

My DH had a 'bag' problem, literally everything gets put in a bag 'somewhere'. I currently have a bag of socks in our room, there's a bag of colouring in books that DS was using, there's a bag of dinosaurs on the stairs waiting to go back into DS room.

Every surface in our home is covered in rubbish too, and I can't keep up with it :/

Phillipa12 · 01/09/2018 21:05

Wrapping paper under bed
Cards under bed
Handbags in wardrobe
Books on the go on my sideboard
Batteries in the battery tub in my man draw
Mcdonalds tat in the dcs man draw in their playroom
Magazines and post i read then bin or file.
Hate clutter!

Purplepjs · 01/09/2018 21:05

Our hallway has a shelf running the length of it. We put hooks under it for school bags/handbags.

Wrapping paper goes under the stairs in an ikea plastic bag holder thing...very useful!

Cards/batteries...office desk drawer

Plastic tat...all toys are in baskets, sorted by type (cars, dinosaurs, train track etc). One basket is called the box of random and McDonald’s toys/party bags toys etc go in there.

Bandol · 01/09/2018 21:07

Cards are in my card organiser.
Ring binder with dividers and plastic pockets for each month. Buy cards in bulk and then put them in the right month section for the intended recipient.
List at the front with key birthdays.
And an extra pocket for blank cards and emergency give to anyone birthday cards.

Regressionconfession · 01/09/2018 21:07

I've just inherited a bureau and I'm determined I'm going to be better at sending cards etc. I've got a drawer in it for wrapping paper and a section for cards and stamps etc.

Bags that aren't in use in the boot room.Blush

Plastic tat - recycling bin!!

Batteries - I'm awful, no storage for these and as a result toys which have batteries rarely have them replaced when they die!! Sometimes I take them to a man in town to do.

Books and magazines - bedside, basket in living room or a table.

Shoes in two big baskets by door. Not ideal. They're always spilling over.

Wauden · 01/09/2018 21:08

Wrapping paper - behind the tv, which is in a corner, so well hidden with other stuff
Cards- in a dedicated drawer
Handbags- on top of wardrobe and I like the look of them anyway
Post- untidy pile on top of desk or in a file I carry around with me or they would be lost
Plastic tat- gone to recycle bin or charity shop or put on front garden
Batteries- box in kitchen cupboard
Shoes- some in front hall, some under beds
Books- book case

Saying that, the place is untidy otherwise!

Regressionconfession · 01/09/2018 21:08

bandol I might have to steal that idea!!!!

changingname18 · 01/09/2018 21:10

Wrapping paper - in one of those big zip up bags along with scissors, bows, tape etc (this lives under my bed)

Cards - in the bag above

Handbags - I have a material drawer with a zip from Ikea which also under my bed. One for bags & one for shoes.

Post - I have a Plastic basket in the kitchen for stuff to be filed away. And a Calendar on the wall with a pocket of bits & bobs that need going to places like party invites, permission slips etc

Plastic tat - both boys have a crap box. Every couple of months I go through it & take bits to the tip that aren't played with. I'm really trying not to let them by the stuff in the first place but party bag stuff is inevitable.

Batteries - Have a battery box under the stairs. All types live in there.

Magazines/books - magazines live in the pouffe in front room along with blankets. Then recycled once finished with.

Shoes - I have a porch with a big wicker shoe box for the majority of shoes like trainers, wellies & sandals but work shoes & school shoes stay out in the week just on the floor in the porch. If I want it tidy then I'll throw them in the box too.

wrapping paper- birthday paper in rolls, only a couple of rolls to do everyone in a wardrobe. Christmas wrap in loft.

Cards- don’t store but would love to do a year in advance!
Handbags- under ottoman bed
Post- deal with & file or more likely ditch.
Plastic tat from party bags and McDonalds or pocket money spends- generally finds it’s way into the bin within a week, I abhor plastic shite!!
Batteries- 2nd kitchen drawer, the “crap” drawer. Only new batteries though, my dad keeps ALL batteries!! 😡
Magazines / books that are on the go - read then pass onto work or Mum for a charity centre.
Shoes that are almost constantly in use- under table in hall- constant use as in school shoes/my walking shoes etc they have to be in actual proper use or they go into cupboard.
