....wrapping paper
Cards
Handbags
Post
Plastic tat from party bags and McDonalds or pocket money spends
Batteries
Magazines / books that are on the go
Shoes that are almost constantly in use
On the back of my life hacks thread I’m realising I’ve no “home” for so many things
This is just a quick list after having wine but is by no means limited to just this. Surfaces seem to be covered with crap all the time and I can’t clean mess
Help!

Handbags - wardrobe

onestitchaway · 02/09/2018 10:12

Wrapping paper and cards - I buy as needed
Batteries - in a basket with screwdrivers/tape measure etc in hallway cupboard
Handbags - one in use in hallway cupboard. Others bottom of wardrobe.
Shoes - regular use shoes in Ikea shoe cabinet by front door. Others in wardrobes
Plastic tat - gets immediately charity shopped/recycled or binned accordingly!

onestitchaway · 02/09/2018 10:15

Post - opened and filed/recycled daily
Magazines - don’t buy them
Books - pass on / charity shop or they’re on kindle. Kids have a Tidybooks each which are I their rooms

Cupcakecafe · 02/09/2018 10:18

wrapping paper - cupboard under stairs or loft (depending if birthday or Xmas)

Cards - if received only keep "special ones" (e.g. kids), if to be used in future, with wrapping paper

Handbags - top shelf of wardrobe if not in use, one in use is either hung on coat hooks or on bottom of stairs depending on strap length

Post - sorted and binned/ recycled, or put in a box folder in relevant section if important

Plastic tat - toy box, binned once no longer used

Batteries - Tupperware in toolbox

Magazines / books - bookcase or bedside/coffee table if being read

Shoes that are almost constantly in use - shoe rack in hallway

Basically organisation, keeping on top of stuff and lots of cupboards/ storage space that is earmarked

I'm lucky enough to have a large dedicated office where everything has a space. I love my office not least for the fact that I don't have to have any of that stuff somewhere else in the house.

I am a dedicated declutterer though and my children are now older teens so there's naturally less tat around anyway

General wrapping paper down the side of our wardrobe, there is probably still some Christmas wrapping paper in the loft from last year with the Christmas box.

Cards go on display for a few weeks after the occasion, and then in recycling. I used to keep them, but I just do not have the room.

Handbags in a underbed storage box, except for whichever I am using the most of the minute.

Post in a wooden post holder on the shelves in the sitting room, which gets sorted periodically when I can't squeeze another envelope in

Plastic tat from party bags and McDonalds or pocket money spends goes in the bin/to the tip to be recycled. My children don't know that Happy Meals come with toys, as I always whip them straight out. Party bag stuff is allowed to drift around the house for a week or two before it disappears, and they are too little for pocket money spends. A few magazine toys have become persistant favourites, so they have an old Chinese takeaway tub to live in with the other toys.

Batteries in one of those little Ikea units with the little drawers. Also where I keep sellotape, card readers for online banking, and other random bits and bobs.

Magazines / books that are on the go on the shelves in the sitting room.

Shoes that are almost constantly in use for the children go in a basket on the stairs, though they are starting to outgrow this. Ours tend to be shoved in a large basket in the cupboard under the stairs except for sandals which live by the back door.

wrapping paper
Spare bedroom wardrobe. I’d love to eventually get it into the office.

Cards
Drawer unit in the office

Handbags
The one I’m using is on a shelf by the door. The others are on the wardrobe top shelf.

Post
Letter holder thing on a shelf by the door

Plastic tat from party bags and McDonalds or pocket money spends
No kids so none of this

Batteries
In a dedicated battery box in the understairs cupboard

Magazines / books that are on the go
I don’t read magazines anymore. One book on the go generally on my bedside table or besides my chair.

Shoes that are almost constantly in use
No more then two pairs each by the door. Regularly sweep them all up and pop them on the shoe rack under the stairs
