AIBU to expect better quality from Christian louboutin

Finally treated myself to my first new pair of loubotins (had an inheritance windfall and after 2 years of mature student study have finally got my first job in chosen profession so celebrating) paid 495 for them and wore them for a grand total of 4 hours and now the red laquer on the soles is completely peeling off
So disappointed after many years of listing after a pair to have this happen I feel so let down

That seems really odd, mine scuffed but never peeled. I would email them or go back to the shop you bought them, that’s awful for 4 hours wear.

dudsville · 26/08/2018 16:27

Wow I wouldn't have expected that either, how disappointing. Can you ring and ask if that's normal?

noleavinggift · 26/08/2018 16:28

Where did you buy them from? Mine are scuffed too, although on the flat of the sole as opposed the side but yours do look like they've peeled.

ConfusedPigeon · 26/08/2018 16:31

It's actually extremely common (and can be a way of verifying they're real louboutins!) for the red sole to peel off.
Sorry that you didn't know, but I doubt you'll get your money back. I own 2 pairs by the way and when it happened with my first pair I was shocked but I did a bit of digging and found out it was expected

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 26/08/2018 16:31

Did you buy them online - could they be fake?
If you purchased them from a shop - I think I'd be back there soon as.

w4ytoomuch · 26/08/2018 16:31

I have too many a few Paris and that has NEVER happened so I'd be leaning towards saying they must be faulty. Email the shop!

eurochick · 26/08/2018 16:31

Are you sure they were genuine?

ConfusedPigeon · 26/08/2018 16:33

See here. If you walked on uneven or rough surfaces I'd say it was pretty normal, TBH.

bouncydog · 26/08/2018 16:34

They shouldn’t have done that, but what did you walk on as wear looks pretty heavy for 4 hours? DD’s have never peeled and she’s had them 3 years.

PossiblyPFB · 26/08/2018 16:40

I always have the soles changed to the red rubber soles before wearing them or shortly after. More comfortable anyway. Never seen them do this, but would recommend having the soles done anyway. If they refinish the pain they’ll only scuff anyway. CL will do it if you want them to say CL on them, otherwise Timsons can do it with a generic red sole for about £15.

PossiblyPFB · 26/08/2018 16:41

*paint not pain!

AdoraBell · 26/08/2018 16:46

Don’t have any of their shoes myself, but I not be impressed with that if I’d bought them. Go back to the retailer in the first instance, then contact CL if you aren’t happy with the shop’s response.

Tomatoesrock · 26/08/2018 16:46

I sold a pair on eBay for my DSIS, She bought them in Paris and the sole had similar damage, Not that uncommon. DSIS buys the Louboutin red sole potector with them since.

TroubledLichen · 26/08/2018 16:50

Absolute standard. I now resole before I even wear. The recommended cobbler is minuit moins 7- they can put a louboutin rubber sole on for £40 that will stand up to actual walking. They have a postal service if you’re not near London.

My Choos are the same.I really think these high end shoes are car to bar shoes

SpoonBlender · 26/08/2018 16:57

Looks like you've been walking through paint stripper! Definitely worth bringing up with the shop, but don't expect much initially - you're supposed to pay and fuck off for most fashion gear. You might need to cite chapter and verse on consumer rights.

MrsMWA · 26/08/2018 16:59

You need to rubber sole fine shoes before wearing. Especially in a wet country. They are ‘ladies with cars shoes’ e.g. you get out of a chauffeur driven car at your destination. They aren’t really designed for walking etc.

blitzen · 26/08/2018 17:02

I got some of these for my leather sole wedding shoes. They worked well. Noticed they come in red too. www.saveyoursole.com

dundee12 · 26/08/2018 17:03

Best quality & comfortable high end shoes are Manolos imo.

Sarahrose21 · 26/08/2018 17:05

They're the real deal, bought from Selfridges, I have another 2nd hand pair that are scuffed but not peeling like this, I was expecting the red sole to wear over time but shocked at how fast these have gone!

Bluelady · 26/08/2018 17:09

I'd be absolutely gutted if they were mine.

RachelAnneJ · 26/08/2018 17:09

I'd agree, or Gina (although their choice of styles is limited).

My Louboutins haven't peeled like that, just scuffed then worn through. The vibrate sole protectors that others have mentioned will hide it.

Sarahrose21 · 26/08/2018 17:10

Hardly wore them on a hike, went to a restaurant for lunch then popped to a supermarket for 20 minutes then home (to take them off as my feet were screaming) I was planning on getting the rubber soles but didn't want to part with them just yet
