Finally treated myself to my first new pair of loubotins (had an inheritance windfall and after 2 years of mature student study have finally got my first job in chosen profession so celebrating) paid 495 for them and wore them for a grand total of 4 hours and now the red laquer on the soles is completely peeling off
So disappointed after many years of listing after a pair to have this happen I feel so let down

What? All of them, @P3onyPenny? Every single shoe that is designed and made?

Bluelady · 27/08/2018 18:12

I think they look beautiful. I'll always lust after a pair.

Leesa65 · 27/08/2018 18:16

Ridiculous .

Not you OP. The shoes .

At that price why should you then have to use rubber on them at a further cost ? If that is high end you can keep them.

Aeroflotgirl · 27/08/2018 18:23

The designer brands should make them properly in the first place, especially for that price, not having the cheek to redirect you to someone else to get resoled. If they are doing that, they are not fit for purpose. CL should pick up the cost.

P3onyPenny · 27/08/2018 18:43

No the ones in the pic. Really shocked that cheap and trashy looking shoes such as those in that pic are " lusted over". Emperors new clothes spring to mind.

BarbaraofSevillle · 27/08/2018 18:44

Well it seems I have the answer to something I've always wondered about.

Very expensive shoes aren't better quality or more comfortable or durable, they're just 'nicer'.

P3onyPenny · 27/08/2018 19:09

You'd be mortified if anybody saw the soles. £500 to hide your shoes!!!Shock

LalaLeona · 27/08/2018 19:17

It says on some websites I've seen that they are only to be worn on carpets and not hard surfaces! Shock ridiculous!

P3onyPenny · 27/08/2018 19:24

So you walk barefoot until you get to your party.Grin ri-dic-u-lous!

EvilRingahBitch · 27/08/2018 19:31

I’ve never had any of the really top end designer shoes but top-end high street like Bally or LK Bennett are perfectly useable and walkable in every respect except that their soft leather soles are not compatible with pavements. I had a few pairs for work that I wore happily for months, changing into them from my commuting trainers at my desk, and only ever touching carpet or marble floors. Once I changed my job to one that required trips across town for work I had rubber soles put on. They’re still great shoes. Some people are happy with carpet-only shoes.

I'm resigned to having rubber soles put on LKB shoes but really wouldn't expect to have do it if I paid £500+ .

Pinkyyy · 27/08/2018 20:08

I have a few pairs now and I always seem to wear off the sole quickly but have never had peeling. I like to wear them until the red is gone and then send them to have the red rubber sole put on. If you give Louboutin a call they give you the address to which you can post your shoes (make sure you track them obvs) and they'll put a red rubber sole on with the Louboutin logo printed into it, they are a lot less slippery with this on too. Not sure how to attach a picture but if someone can let me know how I can show you how they look with this sole if you'd like :)

Bluelady · 27/08/2018 20:12

Just go to choose file at the bottom of the message box.

Pinkyyy · 27/08/2018 20:22

There's no option for this and just did a quick search and apparently MN don't allow pictures in certain categories??

But also just did a Google search for 'louboutins rubber sole' and the one that comes up is the one I get from them, it says Christian Louboutin all over, it's about £35 to have it done

BodegaBaby · 27/08/2018 20:30

adaline me too in the camp that shoes are always uncomfortable. I can’t remember the last pair of shoes I bought that didn’t make my feet bleed during the breaking in period. And this is flats, heels, trainers, flip flops, ballet pumps, walking boots, DMs - everything.

Broken in, leather shoes are great, because they’d have moulded to my troll feet

specialsubject · 27/08/2018 21:17

bleed???

crappy fashion shoes probably will - I went shoe hunting recently and all you can get is horrible cardboard flats or hideous staggerers. the flats are made of sharp edged plastic and will tear feet. however proper boots or trainers should fit, they wont be made for aliens with pointed toes.

f ortunately I have three pairs of boots bought when they made shoes for feet. they will have to last.

EvilRingahBitch · 27/08/2018 23:09

New posters can’t post pictures (in case they post things that we really don’t want to see unless they belong to Darius or Terry Wogan).

Notmethistimehonest · 27/08/2018 23:15

I think that is outrageous, I would definitely take them back. I would agree they are not ‘fit for purpose’.

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 27/08/2018 23:52

@Adaline, wrt to heels, they need to pinch a little a first or they'll stretch too much & be lethal later. I've had so much damage to my feet and ankles (nearly all sustained in sensible flats) from falls due to hyper mobility, plus toes that spread wide because they're unused to shoes (barefoot as much as poss) that most shoes are now just uncomfortable in one way or another at the start. I've had to give up on my assault boots- nice sturdy lace-ups- because my right foot won't tolerate what it takes to put them on atm. It's easier for me to put most heels on!

Most annoying is a much beloved pair if Russell and Bromley flats that suddenly started to irritate my left foot because they have an interior stitch that seems to fight with a particularly stubborn corn on my little toe. This problem is only from these shoes!

Daftasabroom · 28/08/2018 08:34

As an engineer and materials guy it's clear that the red outer sole hasn't bonded properly with the sub-sole. The fault probably lies with the manufacturer, surface contamination etc.

I think you should be due a full refund.

Notmethistimehonest · 30/08/2018 09:52

Interested to know how you get on OP.

Hi Sarahrose, awww, I'm sorry you have had a bad experience with your first new pair of Louboutins. I can imagine how disappointing is was having treated yourself for something so desirable! Well done on the new job/career btw :-)

FWIW I wear mine regularly and the wear on your soles is bad where the finish has peeled away but the rest of it where the surface is pitted and marked is totally normal for Loubs after a short period of outdoor wear. Peeling like that is unfortunate but I know that wearing them in rainy weather can cause that as the water gets under the lacquer surface and it crinkles up.

Worth remembering that the beautiful red Smile is just a lacquer finish on top of the leather sole, so it does come off. In fact the red coming off is a clear sign that the shoes are real, not fake, and I actually quite like mine to look like I wear them, not that they stay in my shoe cupboard all the time. Hope you enjoy yours.

Luxembourgmama · 31/08/2018 10:43

Mine scuffed but didn't peel. You should bring them back to the shop. You can get branded red rubber soles put onthem. THats what i did with mine.
