To think the n word needs to be completely banned

Rodrigo removed from the B.B. house

I think the meaning of the word has a different meaning in these current times

I personally hate the term and thinknit should be totally banned

But can see why it’s confussing for younger people with it in so many pop songs

I really don't think all the black people who have reclaimed it and use it daily would agree with you.

Magnussen · 25/08/2018 23:24

You can't 'ban' language!

Mum2jenny · 25/08/2018 23:24

I think the word needs to be used sensitively and not banned

UnrelentingFruitScoffer · 25/08/2018 23:26

Oh goody ! A fight !

Pity that some of the protagonists will have brought intellectual butter knives to an intellectual gunfight.

Context is everything.

For example, if there was a rule that the N word was really, totally banned 100% at all times and in all places then you’d be in trouble. You would never be able to explain the ban to anyone because you would be unable to mention what was banned.

But hey, let’s not let logic get in the way of a powerful urge to ban things, shall we ? Feels soooo good telling other people what to think.

LardLizard · 25/08/2018 23:28

Should certainly be banned in pop songs

OP posts:
SweatyFretty · 25/08/2018 23:31

I think black artists are perfectly entitled to use it in their music.

LardLizard · 25/08/2018 23:38

But then kids are going to start singing what up my n......

MyBrexitUnicornDied · 25/08/2018 23:41

You can’t ban words.

luckycat007 · 25/08/2018 23:41

And you wouldn't stop people thinking it.

Unless mind control was next on the agenda.

There's an excellent explanation from writer Ta-Nehisi Coates on why it shouldn't be so hard for white people to figure out why them using the n-word isn't appropriate. Google it.

goodgirls · 25/08/2018 23:43

Should certainly be banned in pop songs

what pop songs do you think its in?

StorminaTCut · 25/08/2018 23:43

Oh dear Shock

LardLizard · 25/08/2018 23:44

Try telling Rodrigo you can’t ban words

OP posts:
SneakyGremlins · 25/08/2018 23:45

Yeah but it's censored on the radio and TV.

NameChangedNow · 25/08/2018 23:46

Oh I'm sooooooo sorry you can't say the n-word WoW I think you're being discriminated against. So unfair. Black people get all the breaks. Hmm

Mrbatmun · 25/08/2018 23:46

Has Rodrigo been saying it again? Is that why he was kicked out? He must use it an awful lot if he knew he was already on a final warning and still couldn't help saying it?!

Politicalacuityisathing · 25/08/2018 23:47

In fact, here you go:

Mrbatmun · 25/08/2018 23:48

I hate all this- why can black people use it but not whites-

God yeah, I mean not being able to say the n word makes me feel sooooooooooo oppressed as a white person.

Hmm
AngeloMysterioso · 25/08/2018 23:48

If it was banned half the rappers in the music industry would have to rethink an awful lot of their lyrics

fattyboomboomboom · 25/08/2018 23:50

The word has been banned for usage by anyone who is not black to the extent that it has been replaced by a euphemism.

Regarding the word, black people can use it whenever they like. Isn't it rather like men dictating women's issues?

MyBrexitUnicornDied · 25/08/2018 23:51

Try telling Rodrigo you can’t ban words

It’s a tv show. You can use certain words but if you do there are consequences (like getting kicked out of BB).

Like in real life - you can say whatever words you want. Just be prepared to put up with the consequences - that lots of people will think you are a knob head.

WoWsers16 · 25/08/2018 23:53

it is not just this word- people bang on about equality yet some can say something and some can't.

I am not even saying it is about this word at all- I am saying people fight for equality (feminism is also a link to this) yet there is still these type of discussions- why can't people just all do the same

LardLizard · 25/08/2018 23:53

I don’t want to say that horrible word
But I don’t want kids or teens to think they are able to say it
Which they think they can as its nannies around so much
Tbh it has taken on a different menajnf really these days
So perhaps the name has changed

I don’t like it
Don’t a want to use it
Also don’t want to hear it
