I think the meaning of the word has a different meaning in these current times

I personally hate the term and thinknit should be totally banned

But can see why it’s confussing for younger people with it in so many pop songs

Jeez, do people REALLY not understand the 'privilege' thing? Let me explain. If you have had hard times in your life (and haven't we all?), those could have been multiplied and compounded by factors of sex, race, disability etc. Basically, if you are white, male, monied and able, you are top of the tree - everyone else is one or more steps down from there when it comes to the relative ease of passage of life.

I have no idea on tradesmen front but there was a study showing that CVs with 'black' names on were rejected more than identical CVs with 'white' names on. (Excuse the lazy paraphrasing). I can't remember where i saw it now.

But, I think in that example, they used the exact same CVs. So, there was no difference in age or status or education. It was only the name.

She called the same tradesmen 10 minutes later and suddenly they were available.

We all know it's crap trying to get tradesmen in, it's just that it can be harder for those with names (or social media profile pictures if they do it through facebook) that sound less British.
