To think I can wear what I want in my own house?

New neighbours and I think they might be slightly mad.

Few weeks ago she complained about me and oldest dd being in the garden wearing bikinis ( not even teeny bikinis ) as she has a husband and a teenage son and they might see us. I tried hard to make sure if I was out there sunbathing I was away from her garden and moved the kids pool so it would be harder for them to be seen from their fence. ( - the only way they can see in to our garden is when on trampoline, their raised patio or looking out of upstairs window)

This morning I was cleaning kitchen in my pjs (vest and shorts so not revealing) dd was stood by open patio doors chatting to me in shorts and a crop top she sleeps in. Next thing mrs next door is banging on my front door telling me I'm continuing to disrespect her and her family by the provocative way we dress! If we continue to flaunt ourselves she will be complaining to my husband!

I wasn't quite sure what to say - I suggested she maybe wanted to refrain from looking into my house over her fence if we were upsetting her.

She is totally unhinged!

Glad your DC's had a fun party that wasn't spoiled by your neighbours crazy behaviour op.

SenoritaViva · 27/08/2018 18:27

Oh well done, wish you were our neighbours, your teenage party sounds much better than our neighbours recent one (plus their house is lovely!).
The neighbours were just loud till 3am with lots of teenage stuff, a one off so no complaints except from my 6 year old who said he was never ever going to a teenage party when he was that age Grin

DarlingNikita · 28/08/2018 14:16

he helpfully suggested she could just pray for their souls Grin

Legends!

DH pointed him the direction of 101 and said he was sure they would love a complaint about a children's party stuck a sausage in his hand and firmly shut the door

Killing with kindnessSmile. And not even mentioning that if playing music in the back garden is unacceptable behaviour, they might like to consider that next time they get the urge to break out the Kumbaya (for some reason, my phone's predictive text offering for that is lunacy...)?

For those who seem to be suggesting that perhaps the OP and her DD should alter the way that they dress, just in case the NDN is making a fuss because her DH and DS actually do have / have had a problem with impulse control, that thought would probably lead me to think of trying to find out whether one or both of them was already on the Sex Offenders Register.

stuck a sausage in his hand and firmly shut the door

Brilliant, i would say we have the same husband only mine was here at the time of said sausage sticking! and mine WOULD have wore the mankini

To OP

Sounds like Mrs Next Door is envious.

Install a large windbreak on your fence to block the view might be an option as long as it does not create too much shade on Mrs Next Door's garden?

MeteorGarden · 05/09/2018 07:16

I think in your situation I would incredulously ask your neighbour why she was looking at your undersage daughter in your garden and if there is a ‘reason’ she’s concerned about her DH and herself seeing this?

Should you be concerned? Is this something other neighbours should be made aware of?

Hmm I think she’d back of sharpish. It’s odd behaviour at best and nobody wants those kind of rumours drifting around an area they’ve only just moved to.

Your neighbour is a nutter...

BrightYellowDaffodil · 24/10/2021 14:16

@Mumoftwo2013XxX

I dare say the problem has been resolved now, since it all happened three years ago…

Mumoftwo2013XxX · 24/10/2021 14:17

👍

1forAll74 · 24/10/2021 14:32

Oh dear where do these kind of people come from, with their narrow minded views. Is the neighbour dressed in Amish type clothes when out in the sun.

WorraLiberty · 24/10/2021 14:42

Ahh, 3 years on and this pile of bollocks is here.

Bumped by someone posting racist bollocks.

Some things never change.

mam0918 · 24/10/2021 14:53

I would have responded

'YOU are continuing to disrespect MY family by spying on us in our PRIVATE premises! If you continue to be a peeping tom who feels it necessary not only to spy on us but to then come round to comment on my childs dress and body I will have to report you to the police for sexual harassment!'

mam0918 · 24/10/2021 14:54

ah, didnt see it was an old thread

AffableApple · 24/10/2021 14:54

@NatashaRomanov

May I recommend Nine Inch Nail's Closer for the inappropriate music? If you have nice neighbors nearby, you may wish to warn them first!
Came here to check this was on the playlist Grin

@Aprilshowersinaugust

Tell her you hadn't realised they were peeping Tom's!!
I agree with this. I barely notice my neighbours clothes.
Disfordarkchocolate · 24/10/2021 15:05

Bugger!

HazelandChacha · 24/10/2021 15:27

I read the op thinking it sounded familiar.

To think I can wear what I want in my own house?

simitra · 24/10/2021 15:41

Kaftans and turbans you say? Ah, I see what’s happened here, do you by any chance live in the ‘70s

I wear kaftans most of the time but i dont give a shit (or notice) what my neighbours are wearing as long as they dont come knocking on my door.

TillyTopper · 24/10/2021 16:18

OP you have to do the hot tub party with at least a dozen 15 year olds! Is your neighbour religious or something?!
