Just so festival

Was utter hipster nonsense

We came home early more of a county fair

And when a boy was asked by an entinterainer in the not so magical wood who what types of things he hates he shouted TORYS

What 7 year old would give that as a answer

My husband was just like we need to go utter horse shit their wasn’t much music most of the activities were drunk grownups while there children looked on

It seems to me it’s activities hipsters would like their children to do rather than what children actually a over hyped over priced county fair

Spoke to a vendor that was their and said it’s been worse every year and they won’t be back

Utter shite

We booked for Geronimo next year but just for the day mind

Can’t belive we paid £300 for the whole weekend and we’re back home again already we could of had a extra week at Euro camp for that and had ducking change

My 7 year old would have shouted “Nestle”. Grin

Womaningreen · 18/08/2018 21:28

@Rebecca36

"Also didn't know what a 'hipster' was, looked that up and gather it is a perjorative term for people who try to be different"

This was interesting as I feel like the only person at work who isn't a hipster!

Geronimo was utter utter crap when we went the year before last, we went on the first day and it was so badly organised. There were so many complaints from that first day and from what I understand the second day was much better. The problems on that first day stemmed from traffic having to queue outside the grounds of the venue until it opened later than it was supposed to. A lot of people missed half the day (that's not an exaggeration). The stage was down a hill, anything further than 10 rows back and you couldn't see the covered stage but you could see the top of the cover. The food queues took up the most of the room between the stage and everything else. It was too busy for people to I've freely between activities and to actually take part in anything.

Apparently this was a fluke, as acknowledged by Geronimo organisers themselves. Despite this they wouldn't refund anything to anyone. So I will never give them my money again.

Seems like these 'festivals' are a huge con most of the time.

Meh, festivals are very commercial these days in MHO. I just go to very local ones. I am so over the festival thing (but then again I have young kids, so it's very limiting in the evenings - no chance to party and dance)

I kind of like a hipster vibe though (but I do read the Guardian and eat avocado on toast).

Metoodear · 18/08/2018 21:51

TheBigFatMermaid

OK, so you have grasped that they all begin 'the', that's a start..

There, as in here and there, so here with a 't' at the beginning.

They're, one you didn't mention, so I might assume you know this one but, well, we all know assume 'makes an 'ass' out of 'u' and 'me'', so I won't. It is a contraction of 'They are' with the 'a' missing, so the apostrophe is in it's place.

Finally there is 'Their' belonging to them. I really don't know how to help you remember this one other than, well, it is not the others.
were you one of these hispter knobs at the festival

I went to 'good life' a few years ago - that was hipsterville too. Lots if people whittling wood, gin tasting tent, Cerys Matthews wafing around in her straw bowler hat and linen shirts. Vintage fairground and Ben Fogle talking about his labrador. I took it for what it was.... but it amused me that most of them were Cerys' friends from London town who were 'doing' the countryside and feeling quite smug with themselves, when that's my day to day life!

Ohyesiam · 18/08/2018 21:57

Go to Starry Skies, it’s beautiful.

InspectorIkmen · 18/08/2018 21:57

I have no fucking clue what your on about

That is painfully obvious

MargaretCabbage · 18/08/2018 22:03

I’d looked at this festival and thought it looked magical for little children and was hoping to go next year. I don’t think we will now!

NotUmbongoUnchained · 18/08/2018 22:03

Is English your first language?

mrscampbellblackreturns · 18/08/2018 22:08

Hey, let us all ignore what the OP is saying and just make ourselves feel really clever by criticising her writing style.

Honestly, the only people who look stupid in these situations are the meanies. There just really is no need.

Shehz21 · 18/08/2018 22:11

Is English your first language?

Poor taste. OP's clearly British if she's using words like trustafarian and hipster knobs.

NancyJoan · 18/08/2018 22:22

Friend of mine has been every year with her now 9 year old son and loves it. She doesn’t drink, so she’s not one of the drunk parents!

Different strokes, different folks I guess.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 18/08/2018 22:23

Not poor taste Confused

English isn’t my first language either and I’m fully capable of using words like that. I was hoping English wasn’t OP’s first language to highlight how cunty the people who are picking up her up on her grammar are being.

Jesus Christ, what a bunch of twats you are, going on about the grammar! Some people have so little in their lives, it's pitiful.

OP, unfortunately a large portion of Mumsnet is made up of the kind of idiots you encountered at the festival.

I don't blame you for leaving, I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 18/08/2018 22:29

Only complete twats criticise other people's SPAG. For goodness sake grow up; playing at grammar police is not in the spirit of the site.

Metoodear · 18/08/2018 22:30

It matters not if English is my first language it matters not what the posters do they have a need to feel good about themselves so they try to embarrass or make others feel small by showing how clever they are

If you genuinely what people to learn your flawless skills become a teacher

You understand the gist of what I am saying but yes pat yourself on the back have a cookie now you corrected me don’t you feel better

I do think the website makes it pretty obvious that it's gonna be a hipster paradise to be fair.

honeysucklejasmine · 18/08/2018 22:46

Apparently with Geronimo the company went bust just in time to not need to pay any of the small businesses who were there this year. But, luckily, another company has been set up just in time to organise next year. By the same people. Hmm
