Just so festival

Was utter hipster nonsense

We came home early more of a county fair

And when a boy was asked by an entinterainer in the not so magical wood who what types of things he hates he shouted TORYS

What 7 year old would give that as a answer

My husband was just like we need to go utter horse shit their wasn’t much music most of the activities were drunk grownups while there children looked on

It seems to me it’s activities hipsters would like their children to do rather than what children actually a over hyped over priced county fair

Spoke to a vendor that was their and said it’s been worse every year and they won’t be back

Utter shite

We booked for Geronimo next year but just for the day mind

Can’t belive we paid £300 for the whole weekend and we’re back home again already we could of had a extra week at Euro camp for that and had ducking change

Tory could be the sister it was my dds nickname for awhile

bastardkitty · 19/08/2018 08:37

Oh dear....

HushabyeMountainGoat · 19/08/2018 08:38

I would find that utterly cringey as well. It's the same as when those kids are on the radio 2 request show and asking for hipstery music too. It's all just a stealth boast for the parents.

Metoodear · 19/08/2018 08:43

I just don’t understand why a parent would teach their children to hate others

As a black person I just don’t understand why you would do that on purpose
But I guess my children will come to find out about this soon enough

OP posts:
ShackUp · 19/08/2018 08:48

metoodear well, Boris is doing a good job of fomenting racism and appealing to racists, so a 7 year old could be forgiven for thinking that's what Tories are like.

Metoodear · 19/08/2018 09:00

ShackUp

Using your children as a political tool 😕very sad

If my children were asked what they hated their answers would be somthing like going to bed or vegetables

I would be embarrassed and felt I had failed if they yelled
Momentum or vegans or travellers we just don’t talk about people as a group in a hate filled way in our family

But people raise their children diffrent I guessConfused

OP posts:
Metoodear · 19/08/2018 09:03

When you teach a child to hate
You have failed in everything you needed to achive as a parent

Teaching a child to hate is the start of racism
It’s the start of anti semites
It’s the start of othering
And opposition of political views

Why not teach a child to love

KERALA1 · 19/08/2018 09:07

You're being abit melodramatic now. Have a cup of tea. In time you can have a good laugh at how rubbish the festival was laughing at hipster types is an enjoyable pastime

SaoirseTheSeahorse · 19/08/2018 09:11

I’m with you metoodear. I hope my children don’t hate anyone. I am from a very long line of socialists / traditional labour voters and I used to think (was raised to think?) I couldn’t be friends with a Tory. Then it turned out that three of my closest friends voted Tory and one of them was related to a very prominent Tory peer Confused. I had been friends with them for years and didn’t know how they voted. They’re lovely people. I mean, obviously I don’t agree with how they vote, but I still love them as they’re my friends. People saying how much they hate Tories; not to scare the horses, but maybe you’re already friends with some and don’t even know it Shock.

Anyone who voted UKIP though... hmmmm I don’t know if I could stretch to that.

Somanymistakes · 19/08/2018 09:25

My friends speak highly of Latitude. Is that still going?

slashlover · 19/08/2018 09:26

OP - I just don’t understand why a parent would teach their children to hate others

Also OP -
hispter knobs
fucking clue what your on about really just a load of jibber jabber
definatly one of the hipster wankers at the festival
Using your children as a political tool 😕very sad

bastardkitty · 19/08/2018 09:34

Aww. The title was the best bit.

Guienne · 19/08/2018 10:04

And why would you be proud of your child hating anyone

If my child said they hated racists or bullies, I'd certainly be proud of them.

What are you doing to shield your children from your hatred of so-called hipsters?

MaggieAndHopey · 19/08/2018 10:14

Metoodear's OP reads like free verse. I'd almost expect to hear it on Poetry Please, in Roger McGough's earnest voice.

Flyingpompom · 19/08/2018 11:16

I cannot believe the level of nastiness on this thread. The OP has done nothing wrong, nothing at all. And yet you are ripping her to shreds for her style of writing. You're like a mob of nasty bullies and you should be ashamed. I honestly have never seen a thread like this.
People suggesting OP's children won't be properly educated because she's not a perfect speller?
I teach 8 year olds, and if any of them were to criticise their classmates' work in this way they know they'd be in big trouble, because we support one another and show respect. I'm disgusted that so many of you can't achieve what an average 8 year old can manage.

Bluelady · 19/08/2018 11:21

The nastiness has travelled in both directions. OP hasn't exactly been sweetness and light - here or on her other thread.

ACavalo · 19/08/2018 11:22

Latitude is definitely still going and sounds like it might be more your thing. There's an element of hipster wank but easily avoided and although kid friendly it's a decent festival in its own right. Comedy stage is a winner. And it has incredibly clean loos!

LilyMumsnet · 19/08/2018 11:23

Hi all,

Can we get this thread back on track, please? We don't think that correcting SPAG is really in the spirit of the site and we do remove these sorts of posts when reported to us.

We'd hate to have to delete the thread so let's call it a day on that subject.

AlansLeftMoob · 19/08/2018 11:26

A hipster county fair in a not so magical wood full of woke tory-hating hipster children AND alcohol?

Sign.Me.Up.

£300, though - ouch

Guavaf1sh · 19/08/2018 11:28

We all influence our children with our own views whether we like it or not. If we stand for something we oppose others who hold alternate views - that’s the way it always has been and always will be

IfyouseeRitaMoreno · 19/08/2018 11:29

OP I agree about the 7 year old. My DN was about 3 when she would go round saying that Trump was an idiot.

Fair enough, Trump is an idiot. A dickhead of the highest order. But to hold this opinion at 3 means it has been taught to you and is not your own opinion.

I feel the same about religion and when people refer to kids as being Muslim, Christian,etc..

Fireworks91 · 19/08/2018 11:30

I'm with you OP. I have very strong political views on the left hand side of the fence, but engendering hatred in my kids? No thanks. Besides. I don't hate Tories. I hate what their party stands for, in some circumstances.

IfyouseeRitaMoreno · 19/08/2018 11:31

We all influence our children with our own views whether we like it or not. If we stand for something we oppose others who hold alternate views - that’s the way it always has been and always will be

I totally agree that we can’t help but influence our children but part of what we teach them should be that it’s ok to disagree with us.
