One bath a week in the 60s but you had a washdown with a flannel every day

Yes. I have vivid memories of my mum lifting me up to the sink every day and perching me on the edge to have my dowp washed.

JellyBears · 19/08/2018 17:09

I don’t wash My hair every day and I don’t shower every day. More like every other day. But I wash my face everything night and morning and I wash my hands frequently.

You need to was your hands that’s disgusting.

YeTalkShiteHen · 19/08/2018 17:12

I'd rather listen to Hyacinth Bucket than smell someone's BO

Point made. Grin

SoupDragon · 19/08/2018 17:12

you absolutely DO smell if you skip a day.

You have absolutely no way of knowing whether a non-smelly person has showered that day or not.

YeTalkShiteHen · 19/08/2018 17:13

MeyMary no not every day I wrote that badly Blush once a week! Clean jammies every night though, I sweat a lot and have very sweaty kids!

toxic44 · 19/08/2018 17:20

Are you saying you cook or handle food without washing your hands? Do you wash them when you've been to the toilet? Do you know how people get food poisoning?

SquidgyBanana · 19/08/2018 17:24

My dp rarely showers... sometimes it’s been 3 weeks! That’s gross.. he absolutely DOES NOT smell though but I don’t go near him anyway... suits me down to the ground.. at least I don’t have to fake headaches

KatKit16 · 19/08/2018 17:26

I wash everyday without fail. My lady bits would smell otherwise (I’ve had 2 kids).
Even if I don’t leave the house I still scrub. I wash my hands after every toilet trip & when necessary x x

Shell4429 · 19/08/2018 17:26

I hate getting wet so I hate showering bathing washing. But. I don’t want to smell so make myself shower on alternate days or every day if I work out. When I was a child it was normal practice to have a bath on Sunday once a week! It’s a modern thing showering every day. My elderly father lives with me and doesn’t shower or bath, insists he’s fine with a strip down wash. I am not happy about it but he lives downstairs and uses the downstairs lap as his bathroom. Before he moved in I said I would have a shower cubicle installed but he said no need I wouldn’t use it anyway!

Patience1329 · 19/08/2018 17:28

For a start health studies have shown showering/bathing every day is not good for you every other day yeah. Hand washing depends on the situation; after the toilet, before food prep, after handling raw meat, after touching animals yes. Not All the time. If I don't bath I would usually flannel wash the important bits but going two days without a bath or shower isn't going to kill you. Jesus. If OP is comfortable what's the problem?

Oh and you lot that shower everyday I assume you buy new wash cloths every three months or showering everyday is actually bad for you? Change your bra everyday yeah? Always brush teeth twice a day, floss everyday? Wash brush and style hair everyday without fail? Also bad for your hair. What works for one does not work for another. Leave OP alone.

boxerinbrighton · 19/08/2018 17:32

Thank you for some sanity on here

RoseWhiteTips · 19/08/2018 17:32

Absolutely. She would be wearing Youth Dew, no doubt, too.🙂

PollyFlinderz · 19/08/2018 17:34

Oh and you lot that shower everyday ..........

I use my hands to shower and a thing for my back that’s washed and changed daily.

Change my bra twice a day if I’ve been out and come home with damp underwear.

Wash hair depending on the weather but usually every three days if I’ve been mostly at home.

Teeth as you describe.

OhTheRoses · 19/08/2018 17:35

Up, tea, shower, (wash hair every three days), curling brush on hair, anti-perspirant, perfume, dress in clean clothes, apply a tiny bit of make-up. Every. Single. Day. How can anyone not? On a work day am up and put in 60 mins and that includes emptying dishwasher and hanging up or put a load of washing. Out of house by 7.15am. Take longer over tea at w/e's and might treat myself to a bubble bath then.

Clean teeth and use mouthwash twice a day. Floss cpl times a week. And of course I wash my hands after using the loo/before preparing food etc. AFAIC those things are normal!

I am 58 and had a daily bath in the 60s. We got a shower in 1974!

Bluelady · 19/08/2018 17:35

Rive Gauche, darling 😉

Mummyof0ne · 19/08/2018 17:39

I hope you wash your hands before you prep food

Ethsmum · 19/08/2018 17:41

I can’t belive you are even admitting to this. 🤮
Take some pride get in yourself and get in the flipping shower.

Rebecca36 · 19/08/2018 17:46

What medical studies have shown it is unhealthy to shower or bathe every day? I've never seen one.

The op is simply gross.

DameDoom · 19/08/2018 17:47

Most of us cleanoholics aren't dissing OP at all - she seems like a really good-natured laugh.
I change my face flannel every day as I balm cleanse, I rotate bras and wash once a week on delicate. I wash and style my hair every day because it's very fine and greasy. I have a Dyson blowdryer so it goes from wet to dry within 5 minutes. Floss once a day and brush twice.
I have to disagree that being clean is bad for you.

FaveNumberIs2 · 19/08/2018 17:51

Thought you were talking about soap operas like Eastenders, etc, in which case I totally am. But not washing, that’s just gross.

Cosmos45 · 19/08/2018 17:52

It’s probably all been said but I’m cringing and revolted by people not washing every day. It’s always amazed me on MN about the amount of people who generally confess to not showering every day. Yuck yuck yuck.. I guess I must be really stinky and smelly in comparison to these people because I can’t stand myself (let alone some other poor sod) if I don’t shower every morning. 🤢

CasanovaFrankenstein · 19/08/2018 17:52

Whatever re shower. But wash your hands!!

DwangelaForever · 19/08/2018 17:57

Do you and OH have an intimate relationship, I can't imagine being attracted to anyone I'd have to remind to wash Blush

With regards to washing, I personally shower every day but only wash my hair 3 times a week. If I didn't shower every day I'd bath myself at the sink, but I don't feel properly clean doing that so that's why I shower.

Re hand washing, always wash my hands before cooking, handling raw meat etc, always after a poo but not always after peeing - especially atm as I go 70 thousand times a day being in my third trimester and I don't fancy having sandpaper hands

Moomoo06 · 19/08/2018 17:59

No I shower everyday sometimes twice especially if its hot, and I wash my hands at least about 8 times a day! I feel horrible if I don’t feel clean
