I often can’t be arsed. Dh has to prompt me. Anyone else?

Four times a week isn't that bad (assuming hair is also washed). The lack of hand washing is gross though, even if you only had a wee, you're still touching yourself, the toilet etc.

I lived with someone once who was a proper soap dodger, but this was a shower twice per week if we were lucky and sometimes hair went to two. She also insisted on ramming her clothes tightly into the washer and putting it on a 20 minute wash. It would go in the dryer afterwards and the 'aroma' would spread around the house. It was horrible for everyone, but her personality was such that doing more than vaguely encouraging would have been a full blown sulk for a week. I'll add that this was a fully grown adult and not a teenager.

cosmo what part of “some people dont sweat much or at all and dont have active jobs therefore don’t smell” do you not understand?

what about those of us who have skin conditions exacerbated by showering everyday, and therefore can’t (but still wash pits/genitals/face and use deoderant and perfume) ??

are you that stupid?

esk1mo · 19/08/2018 18:11

at the end of the day, you’re smelly or you’re not, and that isnt always changed by showering daily. some people just smell more than others. some people can get away with it.

you will NEVER know if someone is telling the truth about showering everyday. infact, somepeople you work with and interact with probably dont but you dont notice BECAUSE THEY DONT SMELL Grin

Mrseft · 19/08/2018 18:12

In the winter I tend to shower every other because my skin is so dry and our water so hard it makes my skin flake off, but will still have a little wash under my arms and private area for hygiene on the day i'm not fully showering. In the summer I usually would shower every day. Currently am post surgery and showering is of immense difficulty alone and takes a great deal of energy so it's been more difficult. I felt disgusting when i came home from hospital though having only showered on the friday morning then not coming home till monday and not being able to shower during that time. I was desperate for one. Do you not get to the point of just feeling really yucky and gross?

Flutterbyeee · 19/08/2018 18:20

You dirty lot. How will your children learn about hygiene?

NoClueWhatNext · 19/08/2018 18:23

is this thread still going?!?

this is clearly the loonie thread of the day or weekGrin

If you want to be smelly that’s up to you. I would feel mortified if my husband had to tell me to shower personally but if you are both happy living like that, it’s your choice. What concerns me is your poor hygiene and the risk that poses to others. Understanding hygiene and the importance of hand washing revolutionised public health. Sorry to preach but it’s so important to wash your hand...... the following is from tinternet : (poop) from people or animals is an important source of germs like Salmonella, E. coli O157, and norovirus that cause diarrhea, and it can spread some respiratory infections like adenovirus and hand-foot-mouth disease. These kinds of germs can get onto hands after people use the toilet or change a diaper, but also in less obvious ways, like after handling raw meats that have invisible amounts of animal poop on them. A single gram of human feces—which is about the weight of a paper clip—can contain one trillion germs 1. Germs can also get onto hands if people touch any object that has germs on it because someone coughed or sneezed on it or was touched by some other contaminated object. When these germs get onto hands and are not washed off, they can be passed from person to person and make people sick#

Please at least wash your hands properly and be responsible!!

@YeTalkShiteHen

Ah, yes. I like to change that once a week. Especially in summer...

no to the new jammies every evening. I don't use new ones everyday. But I shower before bed/after I get home...

Those that need new pijamas everyday... Is it because you go to bed "dirty"/without showering?

Not sure why I'd need to have a new bra everyday. I don't have an active job, my boobs don't seem to sweat (unless I exercise...). And I wear a sports bra when I tend to sweat / when I exercise...

YeTalkShiteHen · 19/08/2018 18:29

MeyMary I only do it for sweatiness, I sweat an embarrassing amount, so even with a shower before bed I’m still sweaty in the morning. My kids seem to have inherited my sweatiness Blush doesn’t affect DP, he doesn’t wear new jammies every night.

dorisdog · 19/08/2018 18:31

I shower everyday. I didn't in my twenties though. I'm pretty sure I was less smelly! (Though maybe that was just me thinking that). I wear clothes several days in a row, though. (Except pants!). However I live in the country and my clothes seem to get less smelly than when I'm in a big city.

candlefloozy · 19/08/2018 18:31

I shower every other day and wash my face everyday.

MeyMary · 19/08/2018 18:33

Btw, why wouldn't you wash your hand after going to the bog? And before going? (Also super important imo.)

MeyMary · 19/08/2018 18:36

@YeTalkShiteHen

Oh yeah, I'd probably do that as well in that case...

I simply wore my DH's clean (feel the need to say it on this threadWink) boxer shorts when it was super hot this summer (35+ish...)

Sarahandduck18 · 19/08/2018 18:36

My lady bits would smell otherwise (I’ve had 2 kids

Huh?

Never heard of this. Since when does giving birth make your vagina smell forever more??

KatKit16 · 19/08/2018 18:44

bladder control not what it used to be.
Maybe it's just me ??

Blueink · 19/08/2018 18:50

OP showering 4x weekly, is every other day & in exception of hot weather or being very active, is not a soap dodger IMO. I don’t like my DP to smell too soapy nor him me so we sometimes discourage the other one if it’s a day at home not doing much.
Shampooing ur hair when u do shower & an antibacterial hand gel could be helpful. Dry shampoo good too.

MeyMary · 19/08/2018 18:50

Kat

I don't think you are. I once read that childbirth was one of the most frequent factors for anal incontinence for women. Would make sense if it was the same for the front door. Considering the melon sized object actually gets pushed out the way. (Yup, I'm currently pregnant...)

user1493391099 · 19/08/2018 18:53

I don’t believe the OP

Belina · 19/08/2018 18:55

Lol op I can tell you are a camping type person. I have to shower twice when working in the week usually once at weekend i dont feel right
But up to you what you do your dh must really love you though that's a good thing lol

Fairyhill · 19/08/2018 18:55

In the winter I shower every other day - but I must wash my hands a dozen times a day - ( i garden and cook the food !) in summer I shower once a day ( but if it’s super hot at least twice ( gardening ) again I wash my hands a lot - cooking cleaning - gardening - changing the little ones nappies. BUT. I only wash my hair every 5-7 days - as it’s very thin and delicate - and if I wash it more it breaks off. ( bit harder to leave it in the summer though !)
If you can’t face a shower at least have a strip wash - use dry shampoo and wash your hands !! Smile

Belina · 19/08/2018 18:55

Twice a day I mean in the week and once a day weekend

MumsTheWordYouKnow · 19/08/2018 18:59

That’s really disgusting, both.

minnierose3 · 19/08/2018 19:02

This is weird

Blueink · 19/08/2018 19:02

Overwashing is also a health issue

MumsTheWordYouKnow · 19/08/2018 19:07

I think you’re trying to annoy people. If you stay at home with no children to look after and you don’t care one jot about your husband perhaps it’s no big deal. If you have children, care about your husband and actually go out in public stinking it is a big deal.
