To think peeing in the shower is fine?

Dh thinks it's disgusting. I think it's fine.

The warm water makes me need a wee and I'm not going to get out, soak the floor, dry off and all that.

It's environmentally friendly as less toilet flushing

The water washes the wee away and it's only wee

I thought everyone did it occasionally.

Brazil thought so, to save the 12 litres of water it takes to flush the loo:

My toilet is in a different room to the shower. I'd have to get out the shower, dry myself, wrap a towel around me and waddle to the next room past a big window that looks down my street.

Or I could just wee in the shower.

Those who thinks it makes the bathroom smell, how often do you clean your bath?!

Also, to those who can't even let their period blood flow free in the shower (feels amazing btw), what do you do when you get some on your hands? Or wee for that matter? Saw them off as they'll never be clean again? Surely you just wash them in the sink and carry on with your life. Why is washing your hands okay but washing your leg makes you disgusting?

AynRandTheObjectivist · 18/08/2018 08:25

I wonder what people who are so appalled about dirty substances going down the bath plughole do if they do somehow become covered in muck? Vibrate it off?

LyndorCake · 18/08/2018 08:26

Wait, people who shower without a tampon in, how does that even work? How do you get dry After without the towel being covered in blood? I don’t care about blood going down the sink but don’t see how I could shower on my period without a tampon without creating a huge mess and drips of blood everywhere on the floor and the towel. I had no idea people can shower without a tampon while on their periods!

My period isn't that heavy so not a problem for me!

Missingsocks · 18/08/2018 08:48

Lindsaykola some people don't even use tampons you know.

The only time I use one is when I go swimming.

When I shower during my period I tend to just have some underwear and a sanitary towel to hand to use straight after my shower.

But you're missing the point, presumably most people have no problem with blood, sweat, urine, faeces, dead skin, hair all coming off you when you shower and going down the plug, weeing in the shower is the least of the worries.

vdbfamily · 18/08/2018 08:50

I would never wear a tampon to shower as it would get wet when you cleaned yourself and then presumably drip whilst you were trying to dry. Personally I would have a tampon handy and last thing give myself a good douche and insert clean tampon before drying myself.
As for weeing in the shower.....this is a no brainer. If I save my wee for after the shower, I am no longer squeaky clean! I am beginning to see why some people wash their towels daily if they shower with a tampon in and wee after showering before drying!
You have to be careful though, I was at a campsite once where people queued for a row of 6 showers and whilst queuing I could see that occasionally the drainage channel would start to run a bit yellow and you would know someone was having a wee. Still it is totally natural and eco IMO

Missingsocks · 18/08/2018 08:50

Presumably if you had a toddler who had a toddler who had an accident you'd stick them in the shower even if they were covered in wee?

You wouldn't take them outside and hose them down and sterilise them first so the wee didn't contaminate your shower.

'Everyone' does not pee on all of the places mentioned. It's grim

BlueberryPud · 18/08/2018 10:18

It's disgusting if you don't rinse the shower or it hits the walls or toiletries

I'm not getting how it could hit the wall. Unless you're a bloke and you aim for the wall.

BlueberryPud · 18/08/2018 10:23

And how could it hit the toiletries, unless you have them between your feet?

Moussemoose · 18/08/2018 10:28

I'm going in the shower now to see if I can make my pee hit the wall!

I'm not sure how but I'll give it a go.

I'll up date you all in a bit.

PinguDance · 18/08/2018 10:38

If I’m on my period in the shower and I don’t put my pants and sanitary towel on/moon cup in for a while and sit about in my towel - I do sometimes get blood on my towel. Then I wash my towel! I also use washable sanitary towels so I’m probably just a lost cause to non shower weeing types.

Strugglingtodomybest · 18/08/2018 10:44

Why wouldn't you pee in the shower? It would never have occurred to me not too. I guess the posters who think it's disgusting were told that by a parent whilst growing up and it's just stuck, even though there's no real rationale behind it?

ferrier · 18/08/2018 10:46

Of course it's fine. And just in case it hadn't already been said, haven't rtft, it's often recommended for certain medical conditions and after surgeries.

RoseWhiteTips · 18/08/2018 10:52

This topic goes around and around. Ftr your DH is right, OP. It is disgusting and revolting and any other adjective you want to throw at it.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 18/08/2018 10:54

Totally fine

Was told ages ago if you suffer with bladder infections try to pee standing up as your bladder will fully empty sitting down it’s not likely to not sure of this is true it feels different after I pee standing up

RoseWhiteTips · 18/08/2018 10:55

Imagine anyone doing that where other people have to put their feet. 🤮

And NO, it does not matter how often you wash it blah blah

BlueEyedPersephone · 18/08/2018 10:58

The reason some bathrooms smell are because the plumbing from the drain in the shower may not be as efficient as is should be and if someone weed at end of shower, it may linger without sufficient water to wash it away.
Also if the wee'ee ( not sure of correct description) is not gifted with aim and the cubical is not cleaned daily thus can also lead to smell but only in the same way as a toilet used with poor aim.
If I did not bleed in the shower once a month which is difficult to avoid, I may be torn on this but if the shower is daily cleaned, then i think blood is worse than the occasional wee.

PinguDance · 18/08/2018 11:00

Interested by the idea that however much you wash the shower wee can resist and remain to cling to your feet. Fascinating. Kind of makes washing anything seem redundant if it in fact has no effect on removing smells and stains.

happymummy12345 · 18/08/2018 11:03

No it's disgusting

Munchyseeds · 18/08/2018 11:05

Just wanted to say....I think peeing in the shower is not very plesent, there is no need to do it when I have a toilet in the same room and I don't have any 'urge issues triggered by running water.
As for period blood, I was quite happy to have a shower without a tampon, the worst that ever happened was that I got a splot of blood on the bathroom floor before I had a chance to put a fresh tampon in
So I never have (and probably) never will but what everyone else does is up to them!

RoseWhiteTips · 18/08/2018 11:08

Efforts to defend this practice are amusing.

😂🤣

Moussemoose · 18/08/2018 11:16

No where near the wall.

To those of you who can hit the wall/shower curtain/ enclosure I doff my cap. Your plumbing must be of a significantly higher pressure than mine.

AriadnePersephoneCloud · 18/08/2018 11:27

It's fine to pee in the shower. That is all.

needyourlovingtouch · 18/08/2018 11:39

It's fine!

When I'm on my period huge amounts of bloods gets washed down. That's more disgusting but no choice really.
