Mine would be fish and chips (really good ones with perfectly crisp batter, salt and vinegar chips and a beautiful coastal view to enjoy them by)

Stew and dumplings on a night where it's really cold and rainy outside but you're tucked by the fire all cosy.

Ohyesiam · 14/08/2018 12:13

Chicken tikka masala, created in Leicester I believe.
Fish and chips is good after a day in the sea, but I couldn’t cope with it after a sedentary day.

A Cullen Skink was the best most divine thing I have ever had so that is my choice. #GreenWelly

All our puddings. I don't enjoy puddings from anywhere else as much as I do ours.

British hard pastry products are the best in the world

HelpmeobiMN · 14/08/2018 12:46

Sticky toffee pudding

NewGrandad · 14/08/2018 12:47

I would say Stovies but that would provoke too many arguments.
Next would be bangers and mash but someone would insist on gravy.
Fish and chips but someone would want mushy peas.

So I'll settle for a full Scottish breakfast.

IllHaveALargeGlassOfRed · 14/08/2018 12:48

@Ohyesiam - I think you'll find it was invented in Glasgow! Smile

Roast chicken dinner - is it British enough?

Riotgrrrrrl · 14/08/2018 12:48

MorningsEleven · 14/08/2018 12:58

I agree with puddings. And cheese, we make fantastic cheese in this country.

My Dad lived on cheese and puddings, I think I'm channelling his spirit today (maybe cos it would have been his birthday and he'd have been looking forward to cake - he never met a cake he didn't like)

greendale17 · 14/08/2018 12:59

Chicken tikka masala

Frosty6611 · 14/08/2018 13:01

If I was going to pick something sweet then it would be a Victoria sponge cake overflowing with jam and cream

Would an afternoon tea count? Because there's nothing better than that.
