Mine would be fish and chips (really good ones with perfectly crisp batter, salt and vinegar chips and a beautiful coastal view to enjoy them by)

Northern Irish cooked breakfast.

ccmms · 14/08/2018 15:50

@NewGrandad i agree with you, stovies all the way. Eves pudding or jam rolypoly, both with custard to finish.

seventhgonickname · 14/08/2018 15:59

All kinds of sausages, with graveyard and mas, with chips and beans, venison ones in a Delia stew, cold sausages from the fridge, BBQ'd.Now where else makes sausages as versatile as ours.

TooTrueToBeGood · 14/08/2018 15:59

Like others, a proper full Scottish breakfast, but with impossible criteria. It has to be made with ingredients that taste like they did 40+ years ago. Right now I'd give my right arm for proper Ayrshire bacon from my childhood and tattie scones that actually taste of tatties.

seventhgonickname · 14/08/2018 15:59

Proper Scottish shortbread.

LaurieMarlow · 14/08/2018 16:03

Northern Irish cooked breakfast.

If you're going for the breakfast option then the Ulster Fry surely wins out.

All the regular stuff plus black and white pudding, potato bread and soda farls. Possibly even scotch pancakes.

NewGrandad · 14/08/2018 16:09

@ccmms

It does depend on how you make your stovies though.

AnExcellentUsername · 14/08/2018 16:13

Pizza crunch supper and gravy. Don't knock it till you've tried it...

StripySocksAndDocs · 14/08/2018 16:42

What's the difference between a breakfast from:
Scottish
Northern Irish
English
Welsh
Cornish
Other

(OK not sure the last three were mentioned - yet - and they aren't all Britain.)

MorningsEleven · 14/08/2018 16:57

Scottish - haggis
English - black pudding
Em dunno, I'm a veggie but a veggie scottish with macsweens veggie haggis, hash browns, eggs, beans, tomatoes, tattie scones , toast and a punt of Deuchars was my Sunday morning for years.

theOtherPamAyres · 14/08/2018 16:58

A Tea:

Sandwiches (with the crusts off), scones with butter jam and cream, crumpets, fairy cakes, a pot of loose-leaf tea supplied with strainer......

Sorry, I appear to be dribbling

MorningsEleven · 14/08/2018 16:58

Oh balls I forgot a full Scottish is Lorne not link.

ASliceOfArcticRoll · 14/08/2018 17:11

That would be it - the Ulster Fry. I was smitten.

QueenOfMyWorld · 14/08/2018 17:12

DwangelaForever · 14/08/2018 17:25

Frosty6611 · 14/08/2018 17:54

Go nc Frosty I would.

LighthouseSouth · 14/08/2018 18:50

oh I am so craving Yorkshire pud now.

TillyTadpole · 14/08/2018 18:52

It has to be Roast Beef Dinner with home made gravy, roasties and Yorkshire pud. No contest!

TheQueef · 14/08/2018 20:35

Being Yorkshire my puddings are phenomenal.
Toad ones, sage and onion, Apple and plum.
Seasoned just right too.

I'm absolutely shite at roasting meat though.
Tough beef, dry chicken, chewy pork, fatty lamb.
I've given up trying I'm sick of ruining good meat.

Onthebrink87 · 14/08/2018 20:58

And as gross as it sounds I love tomato ketchup in corned beef hash, its spectacular!!

vampirethriller · 14/08/2018 23:04

Shepherds pie with pickled red cabbage, or a proper roast.
And blackberry crumble or a trifle. I could live on trifle.

MongerTruffle · 14/08/2018 23:07

You have no idea how amazing British sausages are until you move away.
I have the opposite opinion. I prefer German and especially Polish sausages.

safariboot · 14/08/2018 23:28

Chicken Tikka Masala, steak and kidney pie, and balti are all good contenders, but I have to give it to fish and chips.

Though as far as foods, rather than 'dishes' go, Britain's range of cheese is second to none.

Katedotness1963 · 14/08/2018 23:29

Roast beef, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, at least two veg, gravy. Followed by apple crumble and an obscene amount of double cream.
