Mine would be fish and chips (really good ones with perfectly crisp batter, salt and vinegar chips and a beautiful coastal view to enjoy them by)

Frosty6611 · 14/08/2018 13:06

Just checked it out on Google and there was a recent poll done and the top 5 favourites are Tikka Masala, roast dinner, steak and chips, apple crumble and scones with clotted cream and jam.

@LighthouseSouth
I believe it's afternoon tea week this week 🍰

SneakyGremlins · 14/08/2018 13:08

Anything made by my grandma Sad

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 14/08/2018 13:09

Roast dinner/ Christmas dinner
English breakfast

Want2bSupermum · 14/08/2018 13:14

I live abroad. When I come home I stop at Sainsburys for breakfast. Full English with eggs over easy. It's amazing.

Other things I love are Toby's carvery, M&S Vienna swirls, sticky toffee pudding with custard, apple crumble with custard, rhubarb crumble with custard, scones with clotted cream, jacket potato with veggie chili and shredded cheese, coronation chicken, pate, smoked mackerel, cottage and shepherds pies, fish pie and Cornish pasties. Love my pork pies and scotch eggs.

Sausage and sausage rolls have a very special place too. You have no idea how amazing British sausages are until you move away.

fieryginger · 14/08/2018 13:15

Fish and chips, closely followed by a roast beef and Yorkshire pud roast.

Grumpbum123 · 14/08/2018 13:18

Roast beef with all trimmings
Apple and blackberry crumble custard

Or

Decent fish and chips with lots of salt and vinigar
Banana split

Onthebrink87 · 14/08/2018 13:24

My all time favourites would be -
Honey and mustard chicken breast, roared root veg with olive oil and rosemary and maybe some steamed greens.

Braised steak with mushrooms and onions and home cooked chips.

Corned beef hash and dumplings.

All my nannas staples lol she was one hell of a lady! 😍

Onthebrink87 · 14/08/2018 13:27

Oh and randomly (Don't judge lol) i can go a couple of days just eating cornflakes with ice cold milk 😁😁😁

LighthouseSouth · 14/08/2018 13:28

it's afternoon tea week?! Seriously?

LaurieMarlow · 14/08/2018 13:28

Toss up between ...

Fish and chips
Roast beef with all the trimmings
Steak and kidney pie (ideally with mash, gravy, mushy peas)
Chicken tikka masala with onion bhajis and a garlic naan

Not including puddings in this list, that's a whole separate discussion.

StripySocksAndDocs · 14/08/2018 13:29

A Sunday roast in any form (that isn't pork), especially beef and Yorkshire pudding.

BiggerBoat1 · 14/08/2018 13:29

Oh, corned beef hash! Good shout.

BigMosquito · 14/08/2018 13:32

Cumberland sausage, onion gravy and really buttery mash.

SnowyAlps · 14/08/2018 13:33

Beef stew- I make it exactly like my nana taught me. A huge pot, and everyone who visits always have a bowl.

Shphards or cottag pie

Sunday lunch with everything no matter at meat!

Fish and chips with chip shop curry sauce

Swede and potato mash, sausages, peas and onion gravy

Faggots and pies with creamy mash (are faggots British?)

Cornish pasty with tomato sauce

Sausage roll, beans and chips

Cheese and potato pie and beans

Sausage casserole, creamy mash and fresh bread

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 14/08/2018 13:34

Full English Breakfast
Beef and ale stew with dumplings

Frosty6611 · 14/08/2018 13:34

What are the differences between an English and Scottish breakfast?

OP posts:
9amTrain · 14/08/2018 13:36

From what I remember it includes a square sausage and sometimes white pudding (?)

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 14/08/2018 13:38

..while the full Irish includes black and white pudding and hash browns..

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 14/08/2018 13:38

don't know about 'Full welsh' - maybe some laver bread..

9amTrain · 14/08/2018 13:39

I don't think a full Welsh exists officially, never seen it here!

FlibbertyGiblets · 14/08/2018 13:40

Lorne sausage. Blech. White or black or fruit pudding. Or all three. Double blech.
Tattie scones. Mmmmmm.

Fontella · 14/08/2018 13:41

I know this probably sounds absolutely daft - but bubble and squeak!

I absolutely love it.

Always cook loads more veg for roast dinners than will be needed so I can make Bubble the next day. Fry diced onions then gradually add in the veg so it's a lovely mushy mess. Put into an oven proof dish and grate really good mature cheddar on the top and bake until golden brown.

It goes with anything - cold meat, sausages, fried eggs - anything. I even like a huge scoop of cheesy Bubble and Squeak with just baked beans as a meal!
