Sorting laundry, I have just discovered that, not only do dh's trousers have large, deep pockets made of strong fabric with strong seams, but they also have a change pocket at the bottom of the main pocket! A proper, little, well-made pocket so your change won't rattle around or get pulled out and flung across the room when you take your phone out of your pocket!

And, to add insult to injury, when I mentioned this to dh he didn't know anything about it!

Good design is wasted on men Angry

@SargeantAngua I am much in admiration of you.

Sadly I am SO bad at sewing that I got kicked out of home ec at school and I'm terrified of sewing machines

I’m under 5’ tall so the uniqlo sizing works for me. I think it’s not so great for taller people. I’ve never had any problems.

I really like the gray one SargeantAngua, especially the way the pockets are part of the front seams. Is that a published pattern, or your own design?

@soupforbrains I was really rotten at sewing at school, but getting my own machine a couple of years ago meant I could get to know it slowly and now I love it and the freedom of being able to make my own clothes.

Thanks @GazeboLantern it's actually blue denim but looks grey in that picture. Sort-of own design (used the basic skirt pattern from the purple one, found a blog suggesting how to split it into panels, then played with scissors/sellotape/tracing paper to make all the pattern pieces... pockets are completely my own idea). It's the most complicated thing I've tried by quite a long way but I'm very happy with it.

Those are great skirts, SargeantAngua!

I tend to wear fairly full skirts in lighter materials (waft, dear, waft as my bf used to say), so pockets are a bit of a problem if I actually use them!

SargeantAngua · 02/08/2018 13:02

Thanks. Yes, pockets in those wouldn't work well apart from maybe for a tissue. I break all the fashion rules by wearing above-knee length skirts with either full or 3/4 length leggings (I have ME - shorter skirts easier to move in, leggings for extra coverage when I'm curled up on the sofa)

Jux · 02/08/2018 13:40

Actually, I've been known to wear shorter skirts and leggings too! Great for curling up in, agreed! I have MS and find fuller, longer skirts warmer.

SargeantAngua · 02/08/2018 14:05

Glad it's not just me Smile makes sense about the longer skirts being warmer.
