To be consumed with jealousy?

Sorting laundry, I have just discovered that, not only do dh's trousers have large, deep pockets made of strong fabric with strong seams, but they also have a change pocket at the bottom of the main pocket! A proper, little, well-made pocket so your change won't rattle around or get pulled out and flung across the room when you take your phone out of your pocket!

And, to add insult to injury, when I mentioned this to dh he didn't know anything about it!

Good design is wasted on men Angry

This:

It's inside the front right pocket, stiched to the side that touches the wearer's leg.

stuff falls out of my pockets when I have my evening shower

Aren't you meant to take your clothes off first?

Lethaldrizzle · 31/07/2018 12:09

I friggin love pockets. Will not buy clothes without.

QuimReaper · 31/07/2018 12:22

Thank you Gazebo! I've never seen these before. I'm tempted to go and rummage in DH's wardrobe to see if he has them too...

soup so glad it wasn't just me who was ignorant of this phenomenon.

MikeUniformMike · 31/07/2018 12:55

A coin pocket. I wonder if DP's trousers have them.
Thanks for the photo.

Jux · 31/07/2018 12:57

DH says that he has no pocket inside a pocket, but he exclusively wears jeans. NB, he doesn't see the problem, says that women don't have pockets because designers don't want to cut and hang of their clothes spoilt by phones in pockets. I said "why don't they mind the cut and hang of men's clothes being spoilt by phones then?" To which he muttered incomprehensibly into his beard.

MikeUniformMike · 31/07/2018 13:17

It's good that men's clothes have pockets. Manbags can look a bit silly.

Butteredparsn1ps · 31/07/2018 13:57

I've found my people!

I usually live in Jeans so have decent quota of pockets, but this hot weather has thrown me. I spent a family day out last week without my phone (and bank card which lives in my phone case) all because I was wearing a dress.

Phone spent the day on the bedside cabinet.

GazeboLantern · 31/07/2018 14:19

Wonder whether it's significant that these are Kirkland chinos, ie American.

Any American MNers around who can tell us whether this pocket is the norm there?

Yank here. Yes, you will find that pocket in 80-90% of men's dress pants here. All of DH's suit pants have them and most of his nicer kackhi/chino type pants have them as well. I know this because I do the ironing. Smile

GazeboLantern · 31/07/2018 15:18

Do women's clothes have this pocket, too?

Nope, Y chromosome holders only get this pocket. Smile

QueenArseClangers · 31/07/2018 16:11

Living I was about to post about the H&M pocket dresses.
I have the olive green one and it’s brill. Only about £13 each too so going to get more in different colours.

Frogletmamma · 31/07/2018 17:02

Dh has pockets DD sometimes has pockets. So why does all the crap end up in my handbag?

TinselAngel · 31/07/2018 17:22

Quite a lot of Bravissimo dresses have pockets.

Plannergirl9 · 31/07/2018 17:23

I buy Bonmarche trousers for work as they have useful pockets. Not really stylish but I can put my phone in my pocket!Grin

specialsubject · 31/07/2018 17:54

this is why you buy bloke whenever possible - if it is aimed at women it will be overpriced and crap. (Look how badly coded this website is, at least it is free!)

the chunkphone is an issue but I won't have one of those so it fits in a pocket. On my good smart practical trousers, the ones that MN sneers at.

theyllnoneofthembissed · 31/07/2018 18:11

I've recently broken 3 phones due to pocket issues.

1 was sacrificed in the door of my vehicle as my ridiculously long cardigan trailed behind me - I thought the pockets in it were a great feature it it turns out they conspired against me. The cardigan is so long it stayed behind in the car when I turned to close the door and the phone was thorough crunched.

2 phones went down the loo as I'd forgotten they were in my back pocket (only decent sized pocket) as I pulled my jeans down.

I love dh's decent sized pockets and have considered buying men's clothing to obtain my own but as a pear shaped woman I can't fit into anything cut for a man.

I recently bought some cheap eBay dresses made of stretchy fabric and they have pockets! I was unreasonably excited.

Witchend · 31/07/2018 18:14

I add pockets. Dd2 has asked me to add them.to her school sweatshirt. It looks great.

Hygge · 31/07/2018 18:18

"And pants without stupid pointless bloody bows on."

It's taken 43 years for me to realise all my pants have had a bow on them Shock

I'm really pissed off about it now. If that airline can save $40,000 a year by giving each customer one less olive how much cheaper would my underwear have been without that bloody bow?

Troels · 31/07/2018 18:35

I love pockets.
I have a winter coat with a wide range of pockets. It came from Landsend.com pocets for hands, and pockets over the top of those for other stuff, inside chest pockets and a secret pocket along the edge of the zip with it's own zip, big enough for my wallet I usually have a mans wallet, much more use
On clearance it was very resonalby priced.

MissConductUS · 31/07/2018 18:40

I was just about to mention Lands End. We buy all of our winter outerwear from LE and the pockets are brilliant.

GazeboLantern · 31/07/2018 18:41

Oh yeah I luuuurve my Lands End coat: long, warm, waterproof, and has pockets you can actually use!

MissConductUS · 31/07/2018 19:09

Lands End is based in Wisconsin, where they have famously cold, snowy winters, even by American standards. I'm in New York where winters can be bad too, so we really depend on them.

MissConductUS · 31/07/2018 19:31

Just to give you an idea, an average winter here brings a total of 50 to 70 inches of snow.
