What are your thoughts?

OP posts:

Honestly, I judge a bit. But only a little bit.

JacquesHammer · 28/07/2018 15:47

Why not? If they’re sensible and likely to deal with the aftercare properly.

I always think navel piercings are a good choice for teenagers who are inclined that way - very easy to cover!

viques · 28/07/2018 15:48

Naff, unhygienic, illegal on 13 yr old.

I am judging big time. School won't be thrilled in September either.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 28/07/2018 15:49

My niece had one at around 16. Not my taste but she regrets it now as she gained weight and it has stretched and left a scar now she no longer wears it at 34.

illegal on 13 yr old

It isn’t illegal

MoodyMumOfOne · 28/07/2018 15:50

Sorry I think it looks tacky

Pickleypickles · 28/07/2018 15:50

I would say no atm maybe as a treat when they are a bit older.

brainepson · 28/07/2018 15:50

NFW

JacquesHammer · 28/07/2018 15:51

Actually assuming the OP is in England. It isn’t illegal in England or Wales

NonaGrey · 28/07/2018 15:51

No

Witchend · 28/07/2018 15:51

Never. Friend at uni had hers knocked off ib a bar-not doing anything silly. Blood bath didn't describe it. They bleed. Hugely.

Also aren't they illegal for under 16s? In which case my dc's school say they refer to SS.

CleverQuacks · 28/07/2018 15:52

I don’t think there is anything wrong with it, assuming she is mature enough to do all the cleaning of it etc

Angrybird345 · 28/07/2018 15:52

Eurgh

MrsTommyBanks · 28/07/2018 15:52

My DD got hers done at 14. She's 28 now and still wears a belly bar. She took her tinge piercing out after a couple of years though.

Judge away....

specialsubject · 28/07/2018 15:52

smart enough to do what looks like quite a lot of aftercare? happy with no swimming and non-irritating clothing for a while?

Amanduh · 28/07/2018 15:53

It’s not illegal. I’d say 14/15 was the norm. Meh. Wouldn’t bother me

Jaguarana · 28/07/2018 15:53

I don't think they look nice on anyone, but they look particularly awful on a child.

JacquesHammer · 28/07/2018 15:53

Are you in Scotland?

FASH84 · 28/07/2018 15:54

A reputable piercing salon wouldn't do this kind of piercing on an under 16

MrsTommyBanks · 28/07/2018 15:54

Tongue. She never had her tinge pierced Grin

JacquesHammer · 28/07/2018 15:54

She took her tinge piercing out after a couple of years though

Can’t work out if that’s an autocorrect of minge or tongue Grin

ProfessionalBarren · 28/07/2018 15:54

They take forever to heal and frequently go gross. A lot of responsibility for a young teen.

JacquesHammer · 28/07/2018 15:54

Cross post Grin

kaytee87 · 28/07/2018 15:55

Horrible

kitkatsky · 28/07/2018 15:55

I once saw my friend having hers done and passed out. I'm not even squeamish as a rule. Make her watch a YouTube vid of someone having it done and see if she still wants it!
