It's a tricky one. Trying to buy our first home after renting. I'm scared and want to make sure we make the right choice. Haven't viewed the houses yet but can't help looking at the listings.
I want your honest opinion and why you like/dislike them.
About us: couple in their late 20s/early 30s. No kids yet but potential start thinking of having kids in the next couple of years. Location wise both houses are perfect. Please MNers I need all the help this is already so bloody stressful :(

Which houses? Confused

TheCriminalMind · 19/07/2018 11:02

I prefer house 2!

PointlessUsername · 19/07/2018 11:03

I like option 2 feels more homely

UpstartCrow · 19/07/2018 11:03

I think this thread is a bad idea, you've just shown the 2 houses to more prospective buyers.

Noodlefox · 19/07/2018 11:04

I like house number 2 better.

NewYearNewMe18 · 19/07/2018 11:04

I like them both - probably the lay out of the first one more but what puts me off it is all that pea shingle.

I prefer the décor of the second house and the out side is more aesthetic.

Both have been digitally enhanced though.

Which is closer to town?

Swarskid2184 · 19/07/2018 11:04

House no 2

Lookingforspace · 19/07/2018 11:05

It depends what you want. No1 seems bigger but doesn’t have a lawn or flat garden. Fine as s couple but a pain with toddlers. No2 smaller but more modern and with a smaller but lawned garden. Are both really in perfect locations? If so, go visit both. Having bought and sold many times, I can say that often it looks good on paper but I’ve hated it and other times I think I’m going to dislike it but I love it when I visit. So make an appointment and see what feel you get.

MothertotheLordsofmisrule · 19/07/2018 11:05

Option 2 it seems more like a family home.

Something about option 1 that seems off.

Kotare · 19/07/2018 11:05

The first one by miles. I hate mock tudor plus the rooms look to be odd shapes in the second.

But you'll know IME. The right house has a feel to it. Don't buy a place unless you get the feels.

MrsMrsMrsMrs · 19/07/2018 11:05

House 2 😊

YoYotheclown · 19/07/2018 11:06

I like 2.

RrreCansada · 19/07/2018 11:06

House two. The shingle puts me off house 1.

blackfootdaisy · 19/07/2018 11:06

House two
I’d always buy detached , it has a drive and potential to extend
House one doesn’t have a clearly defined eating area , it looks like the table has been folded a pushed against the wall

Tomboytown · 19/07/2018 11:07

First one
Feels more spacious

Snowysky20009 · 19/07/2018 11:07

I prefer the first 🤷🏻‍♀️

yetea · 19/07/2018 11:08

The living room area looks too small to me if you’re planning on having a family in the first house (the prettier outside house).
The other house is uglier on the outside but you aren’t going to be spending a significant amount of time looking at the outside of it. It has a bigger garden and better space inside IMO.

happinessiseggshaped · 19/07/2018 11:08

First one looks a lot bigger from the photos and has a bigger garden. If it has more space and a bigger garden I would go for that. I don't know the area at all though. Old kitchen in 2 would put me off compared to stunning new one in option 1 (although its not what I would choose). But then I/m perhaps just wishing i had a new kitchen as mine has big holes in the walls and is about as old as I am.

sunshinesupermum · 19/07/2018 11:08

House No 1 without a doubt - more spacious and super garden. All depends on exact location to shops/station/schools for future. You need to visit both because it is often the 'feeling' you get when you walk into a house that makes it feel like home. Good luck.

ItchyKondera · 19/07/2018 11:08

I prefer 1 as I like a bigger kitchen and socializing in the kitchen!
There is hardly any work top space in number 2, whereas 1 you could have a small table in there too - I like having the kids sat there eating their tea while I am pottering in the kitchen

And generally it is the kitchen we need more space in as the family grew! Bigger fridge / freezer etc

DaveMinion · 19/07/2018 11:09

I must be the only one word prefers number 1.

Ginslinger · 19/07/2018 11:09

I like no1 because it seems to be more private but I don't like the garden and I would probably get rid of the decking and shingle and lay it to lawn.
