It's a tricky one. Trying to buy our first home after renting. I'm scared and want to make sure we make the right choice. Haven't viewed the houses yet but can't help looking at the listings.
I want your honest opinion and why you like/dislike them.
About us: couple in their late 20s/early 30s. No kids yet but potential start thinking of having kids in the next couple of years. Location wise both houses are perfect. Please MNers I need all the help this is already so bloody stressful :(

I drove past option 2 and can confirm it's a detached :D
They both in the catchment area for several schools with good ofsted (gosh I can't believe I'm even considering this)

Can I add a 3rd option just to confuse everyone even more ? www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-55423926.html

Sorry lovely MNers. But I will make a pros and cons list of your comments and will consider everything before putting an offer in(if it comes to that)

Ideally I'd prefer a detached, but it would have to be number 1 for me ... if only because it has a completely separate family room on the floorplan

However the floorplan doesn't appear to match the photos ... if you look at the front of the house the entrance door appears to be in the middle with a window each side, but on the photos it's at the side. Are you sure they've not got them mixed up with another property? Confused

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 19/07/2018 11:43

I don't like the third one ag all.

What a lot of hot tubs there are in Cabridgeshire!

Bluelady · 19/07/2018 11:43

I wouldn't even consider 3. Both the others are better but 1 is betterer!

penguinsnpandas · 19/07/2018 11:43

Prefer house 2 - check what work they have done recently. Nearest two primaries are rated as 'requires improvements' this may well have changed by time you get there though.

House 1 don't like exterior but interior and garden good. Would concern me they only bought in 2017 and also for a low price relative to what advertised for - is there an issue with the house. Have they renovated and only intended to stay a year? Do they have neighbours from hell etc?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 19/07/2018 11:44

I don't like 3 at all - no en suite which I'd want with a future family, too overlooked at the back and a general feeling of being cramped

Tinypause · 19/07/2018 11:44

House 1 but I would want to redo the kitchen.

gorgeoushazydaysofsummer · 19/07/2018 11:45

Number 1. Much more space, nice kitchen, and I like the look of the house more.

Which do you prefer??

JustLikeBefore · 19/07/2018 11:45

You'd out grow house 3 pretty quick if you had 2 DC, the 3 bedroom is a box room, and again a separate pokey kitchen.

MummytoCSJH · 19/07/2018 11:45

I prefer house 1! You buy house 2, and I'll take that one Grin

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 19/07/2018 11:45

I like boys no 1. For the size of the rooms. I have a living room similar to no 2 and hate it. Too narrow just ends up feeling like a corridor of furniture. I know 1 is semi starched but the size and space inside would clinch it for me. I am never too fussed about the outside of a house I don’t spend loads of time looking at that. If it’s pretty that’s an added bonus.

BarbaraofSevillle · 19/07/2018 11:45

House 3 appears to have no way of accessing the dining or living room from inside the house Confused

gorgeoushazydaysofsummer · 19/07/2018 11:45

I don't like 3 at all. (Why does eveyoone have a hot tub?!)

mummyof2boys30 · 19/07/2018 11:46

If i was buying again i would go for detached but i prefer the look of number 1

Trinity66 · 19/07/2018 11:47

Number 2 looks nicer out side and has a nicer sun room but Number 1 is nicer inside and has a better garden so I probably prefer that Number 1

Lookingforspace · 19/07/2018 11:47

Def not no3. It’s cramped and lacking in bathroom space.

BlueAnchor · 19/07/2018 11:48

I prefer 1 (as it seems bigger and lighter ) and the 'lifestyle' portrayed is very tempting (outdoor living) but I would only buy it if I liked all of the new refurb. Do you like the new kitchen and bathroom without changing them? Same with adapting the garden.

I would actually look for a shabbier version of 1 at a cheaper price and then use the money to refurb to exactly what I wanted.

Trinity66 · 19/07/2018 11:48

Don't like No3. Just realised that No2 is detached so that might possibly change my mind on which I preferred between 1 & 2

blackfootdaisy · 19/07/2018 11:49

3 is nice too
You don’t have to keep the hot tub , bet they try and sell it to a buyer separately

Lookingforspace · 19/07/2018 11:50

All things location wise being equal then no1 for me. How is the commute from both to work? Do you need to get out onto a busy road from either? Are there power lines or electricity sub stations near either?

TheFaerieQueene · 19/07/2018 11:50

The first one. I hate the look of #2. Sorry.

yoyo1234 · 19/07/2018 11:50

I prefer house 1 looks more spacious and the garden looks bigger.

ACatsNoHelpWithThat · 19/07/2018 11:52

Definitely go for a detached if you have the choice, look at all the threads on here about the stress caused by neighbours complaining about babies crying, kids running around the house etc. Yes you could tell the neighbour to F off but back in the real world it's much nicer to get on with them.

Blinkingblimey · 19/07/2018 11:53

Number 1 definitely - bigger and garden better for kids!

DuggeeHugs · 19/07/2018 11:53

I like 1 because the bedrooms are better sizes
