Parking situation on my new road.

I have just completed on a new house. When I viewed it I spent time on different days popping by the road at different times of day to checkout the parking situation and all was fine. My house and the one opposite have a drive for 1 car odd road and the others have space for 2. I only have one car.

The house opposite was for sale at the same time and the new occupants have just moved in a couple of weeks after me.
They have 6 cars!!!! (Green)

I have tried my best on the diagram to illustrate where everyone tends to park - each house has a coloured for above and then their cars are the same colour lines.
I only have one car so my driveway is ample however with green house wankers parking their cars all over the place - mainly at the end of the cul de sac - it's really hard to get out of my drive with cars also parked on the road in between my house (red) and my nice NDN (blue)

I've popped round and introduced myself and explained asking them politely not to park the three cars at the the end of the cul de sac (which is a dropped kerb. But they closed the door in my face and I haven't seen them since. Tonight they've got all of their cars all over the road as per the diagram.

What's my best course of action here?

Dump your car in the middle of the road 'because you can't get on your drive' - it may not be a hassle for them given their extensive choice of vehicles - but it will mean you can park in the middle of your street.

melonribenia · 14/07/2018 23:03

Could u put a large stone or something on the edge of the end of your drive so they can't park over it?

Bojangles33 · 14/07/2018 23:04

Excellent diagrams!!! This should go into some sort of MN hall of fame.

Agree with PPs, park over your drive. Why on earth do they have 6 cars? Are there lots of people living there or are some of these "projects" that are just parked up all the time?

FeralBeryl · 14/07/2018 23:04

Yep - leave your car on your drive but right down the bottom of it. You'll either block them in, or stop them using that end 'space'
Cheeky bastards. I know it's unlikely to have an effect after the door slam, but I would pop a note through just saying Hi, only wanted a quick chat the other night, I'm fine with you using the road to park all your fucking cars but can you please make sure the dropped kerb isn't blocked as I'm struggling to park up my drive. Thanks.
That way, they can't claim in future that they had no idea.
Oh and how many people live there? 6 cars? SIX?!?

WomanWithAltitude · 14/07/2018 23:04

You're not being bitter and twisted at all! They are bang out of order.

If they can afford 6 cars they should have bought a house that has parking for 6 cars, not taken up the entire road. We have three cars and currently looking to move, and parking is one of our major requirements in a house. You don't move somewhere and expect to be able to leave your vehicles all over the street!

JennaTools · 14/07/2018 23:05

There's 3 of them living there (mum dad and teenager) with a work branded car, then 4 personal cars (one each and an old school convertible which they use at the weekend) plus one car which is on the drive which their teenager is doing up and then two other grown up children who seem to stay at the weekend (8 cars at the weekend)

Nice NDN is also sick of it being like a car park and has written to the council.

God they sound irritating. 8 cars and two motorbikes? Angry

MoonsAndJunes · 14/07/2018 23:09

Join NNDN and write to the council too.

Labradoodliedoodoo · 14/07/2018 23:10

Second diagram looks like modern art. Should be hung in the Tate modern

JennaTools · 14/07/2018 23:10

I think there's 3 bikes not big proper motorbikes more like big mopeds, they're very intro cars and fiddling with the engines and changing the wheels

Park in front of their driveway? As you can’t park on yours due to their cars.

Labradoodliedoodoo · 14/07/2018 23:14

If you can’t get in the drive just park alongside your drive hit on the road. If you block them so be it

Redundancy1 · 14/07/2018 23:15

I'm too overwhelmed by your brilliant diagram ...so I've nothing to add. Grin

UrsulaPandress · 14/07/2018 23:16

You parked two streets away!!! No. just block them in

JennaTools · 14/07/2018 23:16

Thank you for the diagram compliments, I thought you'd like the colour coding.

MyOtherProfile · 14/07/2018 23:17

Definitely park on the road across your own drive.

WhispersOfWickedness · 14/07/2018 23:18

6?! 😱
Awesome diagram, btw 😁
No advice, sorry, can't believe the cheek of them 😣

MrsMoastyToasty · 14/07/2018 23:22

Are you sure that they are all for the occupants or are they running some sort of car repairs or car sales?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/07/2018 23:23

Be aware that there's no law against blocking you out .....so they could (In theory) put one of their motors right in front of your drive for the duration, blocking you out meantime.

I have a neighboutr with multiple vehicles , its like a game of Car Chess , moving one , then moving another to take its place. But , as long as they are taxed and legal, I suppose there's nothing I can do.
'Tis a bugger in winter though, I need to ease my car off the drive and hope it doesn't just slide, I am always reversing back in too.

SD1978 · 14/07/2018 23:26

Yes CF. Sadly nothing you can do. Also grew up in a culdesac, and the hammer head for reversing out is full now of cars, as are all the driveways. Unless there are lines, you can’t get it stopped. Unless any of the vehicles are unregistered. Have they bought or renting? Could try and find out landlord if latter?

Shumpalumpa · 14/07/2018 23:27

Modern art Grin

OP, please update us on their reaction when you park on the pavement/CDS.

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 14/07/2018 23:29

Excellent diagrams!
Just a thought - are all those vehicles taxed/insured? Hmm

Xiaoxiong · 14/07/2018 23:33

I assume you parked 2 streets away because you couldn't get onto your own drive? Fuck that. Next time just block them in, the inconsiderate pricks.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 14/07/2018 23:35

I'd check all the cars are legal for a start.

Just park over the end of your drive. Taking over as much space as possible.
