Parking situation on my new road.

I have just completed on a new house. When I viewed it I spent time on different days popping by the road at different times of day to checkout the parking situation and all was fine. My house and the one opposite have a drive for 1 car odd road and the others have space for 2. I only have one car.

The house opposite was for sale at the same time and the new occupants have just moved in a couple of weeks after me.
They have 6 cars!!!! (Green)

I have tried my best on the diagram to illustrate where everyone tends to park - each house has a coloured for above and then their cars are the same colour lines.
I only have one car so my driveway is ample however with green house wankers parking their cars all over the place - mainly at the end of the cul de sac - it's really hard to get out of my drive with cars also parked on the road in between my house (red) and my nice NDN (blue)

I've popped round and introduced myself and explained asking them politely not to park the three cars at the the end of the cul de sac (which is a dropped kerb. But they closed the door in my face and I haven't seen them since. Tonight they've got all of their cars all over the road as per the diagram.

What's my best course of action here?

Wow! Apart from the amazing diagram I'll never complain about my neighbours' parking again. Feeling really lucky! I don't have a car, but used to live just outside a CPZ at the end of my little street, and there was a problem with cars from other streets parking on ours and I always had the transit vans outside my front window, meaning no daylight. I didn't choose to have a new CPZ including my street created, but it does make a positive difference.

I notice you've recently moved in, but have you talked to other neighbours about all this? With that many cars, you're surely not the only one who's fed up!

Cheeseislife · 14/07/2018 23:48

I'd park my car parallel across the three at the end of the road, block them all in! But then my car has more dents than panels...

abilockhart · 15/07/2018 00:15

Some suggestions:

Check all the cars parked in the cul-de-sac are taxed and insured. If not, report the cars for being on a public road without tax and insurance.

Report your new neighbour to your local council for running a business from their house.

piefacedClique · 15/07/2018 07:40

Did you say it’s a new build? Lots of new estates have a clause about work branded vehicles. Or can you apply to get a H bar across your drive?

JennaTools · 15/07/2018 09:21

Not a new build unfortunately. I have checked the tax..etc on them and the only one which is without tax / MOT is the one on the drive but that's for the son to do up / practice on Facebook stalking tells me he works in a local garage. But other than that all other vehicles are definitely theirs and in use. Fuckers.

I'm just off to work and shall update you on my return. If there is enough room to park across my drive way I will be doing that. If CFs car is parked at the end nearest me and Nice Ndns DDs car is parked on the road between our houses I have no chance.

Check the deeds for the house (yours are probably similar if you don't want to get a copy of theirs) and check to see if there are any covenants against it and then tell them you will get your solicitor involved if they don't act like decent neighbours.

If they rent report them to their landlord or letting agent.

Contact the council and keep reporting then to the council. Some councils let you do it online. Take new photos every day and keep reporting then and the council will do something eventually, especially since they are blocking stopped kerbs and access to the footpath and recreational area.

For the work van is it the neighbour's business or a bigger employer? If the latter report it if that can is causing problems - I know someone who had his work van reported for inconsiderate parking and because there was a complaint his work van was taken away from him so he wasn't allowed to take it home at night.

Finally, as other pps have said block them in. Park across your drive as best you can and if that blocks in one of the cars then so be it. They can approach you to move and then you can tell them again how they are bad neighbours.

CornishMaid1 · 15/07/2018 10:12

P.S. I agree with everyone else that your should win a Mumsnet award for best diagrams and with no prompting either.

Assburgers · 15/07/2018 10:22

Is the work branded car a big company? Or a company they own? If it’s the former, you might have some luck complaining to them. That’s only one car though. The council is probably your best bet.

Assburgers · 15/07/2018 10:22

Sorry, x-post with cornishmaid

mydogishot · 15/07/2018 10:23

Are you UK?

If so there are ways to stop them.

Talking obviously isn't working so you'll have to ramp it up.

Register your dropped kerb. In my borough even a tow bar over the sloped stone starting a dropped kerb gets a ticket. Call the council every single time.

When they try to confront you say "I tried to talk to you about it but you refused to talk. So I assumed the cars weren't yours"

If them use company car to block, tell the company. On twitter and FB. With photos.

Harsh but you have to out bastard the bastards.

Pigletpoglet · 15/07/2018 10:31

Can you play car chess with blue NNN? So get them to temporarily move their car back a bit, park yours across your drive (accidentally blocking their leftmost car in), then get blue NNN to pull in behind you (preferably leaving you enough space to get out). A few repetitions might get the message across...

(amazing diagram, by the way!)

cornishmumtobe · 15/07/2018 10:36

Another 1 to say - excellent diagram and sorry about your CF neighbours!

Bubbles050 · 15/07/2018 10:47

If they're blocking access to the highway for you you can report the car to the police.

Or buy or borrow an old really small banger that won't block you in but you can put in that end space and keep it space for yourself, your Ndns are CFs

BlondeVolvo · 15/07/2018 11:05

It’s illegal to park over a dropped curb so you can report them for causing an obstruction - get in touch with your local council and local neighbourhood policing team. We had it with people parking across our garage which is a dropped kerb - council are now putting keep clear markings on for us for free 👍🏻. They sound like d*cks!!

JennaTools · 15/07/2018 13:28

I have arrived home to something magnificent, Nice NDN has parallel parked at the top of the cul de sac bang in the middle of where their usual cars are see adjusted diagram with yellow box demonstrating her cars positioningShock i have parked in the space she usually uses on the road.
There were 2 cars there this morning (one of there's and one of their other kids) so they must have gone out and she's seized the moment. She's at a bit of a funny angle but the gesture is appreciated of course.

They're going to go fucking nuts!

I've knocked on nice neighbours door but no answer I wonder if she's gone out or hiding incase I'm cunty mc cunt face.

bilbodog · 15/07/2018 13:40

Excellent diagram OP.

notapizzaeater · 15/07/2018 13:43

Fantastic ... would love to see their reaction

MoonsAndJunes · 15/07/2018 13:51

You MUST update later OP! I love your yellow neighbour!

emwithme · 15/07/2018 13:59

Yay yellow neighbour!

ScrubTheDecks · 15/07/2018 14:01

Top Work, yellow NDN.

They really are ignorant nobs.. If the car in the drive is not taxed etc, they could one of their cars across their own drive.

JennaTools · 15/07/2018 14:02

I'll be home all day curtain twitching / camped out in a garden chair on the driveway.

Parking thread with great diagrams + an ally! I hope they come back soon, can't wait!!!

SillyMoomin · 15/07/2018 14:02

Yellow neighbour has to be a MNetter surely?

Print off a copy of your diagram and put a post it note on it that says “we’re all behind you yellow neighbour”
