Hairless foofs

Ginismyfriendx · 06/07/2018 01:02

So can't sleep and watching naked attraction (please do judge me, I deserve it)
Are completely bare foofs a thing now? Having had a nasty experience of an ingrown hair from shaving bikini line (which required anti-biotics) why go through that? Nevermind the faff. Who want's an evening shadow on their lady bits?
All for a bit of pruning, but uprooting?

"If you don't remove it what do you do when you go on holiday? Take the spiders along for the ride?"

I dont remove it for holiday either! Just got back from Corfu and didn't shave anything, and guess what, nobody said a thing. Not even a funny look. Most people don't notice or dont care.

Putting aside the 'should we shouldn't we' debate for a moment...

How do you women who have full waxes at salons not feel 100% embarrassed to have a stranger ripping hair off your vulva?

When I was younger I was considering having it all waxed off but could not get past the shame / embarrassment of going to a stranger for such an intimate procedure.

Laiste · 06/07/2018 08:37

All off for the last 35 years. I hate being hairy down there.

Quick whip over with the razor takes less than 10 seconds in the shower alongside doing arm pits. (rarely do legs - they're just not hairy)

Do i care what anyone else is doing? nope.

SoddingUnicorns · 06/07/2018 08:42

"If you don't remove it what do you do when you go on holiday? Take the spiders along for the ride?"

Ignoring the ridiculous playground sniping aspect of that very childish post, if anyone on holiday is concerned with inspecting my genital area while I’m swimming they need to get a fucking life. Grin

BertrandRussell · 06/07/2018 08:44

“You know you could have done a search and found any of the approximate 5000 threads on MN already on this subject, each of them asserting your right to remove or not remove your hair according to personal preference?”

Actually, she would have found approximately 5000 threads asserting your right to remove or not remove your hair according to personal preference, but strongly implying that you are dirty, smelly, unhygienic, lazy or letting yourself go if you don’t.

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 06/07/2018 08:47

I’m just over 40 and no one did this when I was younger. We all had sex and somehow managed! I don’t tell unclean or dirty. I slightly shave the hairs at the side so they don’t poke out my bikini.

Pubic hair being “gross” is utterly depressing and the porn culture has mainstreamed this. I feel so sorry for girls growing up through this crap that we never had

EivissaSenorita · 06/07/2018 08:48

@user09876543211234567890 working on that theory how can you push another human out your body and not be 100% embarrassed at all the people watching you do it? And possibly stitching your hole up after? ?

ResistanceIsNecessary · 06/07/2018 08:54

Sex does feel better without it but my god the itching and ingrown hairs are miserable. I have sensitive skin so it doesn't matter if I shave, wax, use veet or whatever - I get them regardless.

Mine gets trimmed so it's neat and that's it. If someone has a issue with me having pubic hair, which is a perfectly normal and natural feature, then they can bog off.

FWIW I don't like men being hairless either. I find it very unattractive.

madmomma · 06/07/2018 08:54

For people who say that pubes are necessary for good sex, if you haven't tried it bare then how do you know? I've had everything from a full 70s bush to all off, and everything sexual is better when pubes aren't there. All the nerve endings on the vulva are exposed. I can't be bothered with the upkeep or expense though personally.

Laiste · 06/07/2018 08:54

Well, speaking for myself, when you're in agony pushing out a baby you don't worry about who's in the room. I AM always a bit shy about the stitching up part. Things have calmed down by then and the panic is over.

Getting your privates out for a cosmetic procedure is obviously different.

FeistyOldBat · 06/07/2018 08:55

Is there any pressure on men to shave their bits? If not, why not?

Laiste · 06/07/2018 08:56

I think younger men do shave more commonly now. Back crack and sack and all that Grin

DH does not. And i like it that way.

GenericHamster · 06/07/2018 08:57

I believe most women who shave do so out of preference but no doubt porn/men's preference plays a part too (not all of it).

The insults definitely fly both ways. As someone who only shaves when I can be bothered I've seen lots of posts over the years saying people with hair are dirtier/lazy/unhygienic/less attractive/less modern (!).

HerFemaleness · 06/07/2018 08:57

Nothing worse than going into public toliet and seeing a long pubic hair on the toliet seat.

Really? I can think of 4 things off the top of my head that are worse. Namely, shit, urine, menstrual blood and a used condom. You can brush a pube down the loo with a bit of toilet paper.

I bloody love my pubic hair. I would never get rid of it.

user09876543211234567890 · 06/07/2018 08:59

@EivissaSenorita - first birth I had an emergency c-section and second time round I had a home birth with a private midwife I'd got to know very well over the course of my pregnancy. So I've been lucky enough not to have to endure the indignity of that!

Though I'm pretty sure that with all the stuff going on at a birth, all the hormones, pain, desire to meet your baby etc etc, that embarrassment would be the last thing on a woman's mind. Also there's often no choice.

Going to a salon for an intimate wax is a voluntary choice. Also it'd be all 'fake normal' with (I imagine) the beautician asking you about your holidays etc while she rips the hair off your fanny - what could be weirder than that?! Totally different from any medical procedures (which are bad enough I hasten to add).

I'm really curious to know how other women manage the salon visits as I'd love to try a full wax but am too nervous and can't get past my embarrassment!

Grandmaswagsbag · 06/07/2018 09:02

For people who say that pubes are necessary for good sex

I wouldn’t say they're necessary, I’m just questioning the constant asertion on here that sex is better without pubes, therefore people are remiving purely for pleasure and not any aesthetic reasons. You don’t have hair growing directly on your clitoris for a start. Plus it’s pretty well acknowledged that the main biological reason for pubes is probably to be pheromone trappers, the main purpose of which is to make you sexually desirable to a partner. I don’t see how having less pheromones can lead to ‘better’ sex.

MiniTheMinx · 06/07/2018 09:04

Why are women so embarrassed about their bodies? Too embarrassed to have hair, not have hair, too embarrassed to show a man they have hair, too embarrassed to let a another woman see it to wax it off.......it all boils down to this.....women are made to feel always not quite good enough.

BertrandRussell · 06/07/2018 09:05

“The insults definitely fly both ways”

Really?
“Have you considered that this choice you think of as completely free might actually be influenced by the porn industry and encouraged by the “feminine grooming” business?”

“If you don’t remove you pubic hair you are dirty, smelly, unhygienic, covered in urine and menstrual blood, lazy and have let yourself go”

Twowilldo50 · 06/07/2018 09:05

The thing that worries me about this, apart from the link to porn, is that young women are apparently worried about going to get their cervical smears done because they are worried about how they will look to the nurse. Also, these wipes for your intimate areas - really? Clean knickers every day and regular showering is sufficient. I’m a runner and never have any worries about “freshness” because I shower and wear cotton knickers for running. Luckily enough I’ve never been in a situation where any men I’ve wanted to have sex with have been put off by my untrimmed, hairy body. Which is what women have. When I was having chemo and my pubes fell out along with head hair, eyebrows and eyelashes etc, I used to look in the mirror and feel like an ugly troll child. I’ve never had thrush, and I’ve had cystitis once, but friends who do wax etc seem to get thrush quite often.

DingDongDenny · 06/07/2018 09:07

All I can say is it's the 'hairy women' who have made me laugh in this thread. Maybe pubic hair is linked to a sense of humour

I once clicked on one of those porn accounts that had flowed my Tumblr (back when I had a tumblr) and I must say, the girls did look like an adult woman's top half spliced with a young girls bottom half.

I did once try shaving it all off. I am very hsiry so wielding a razor so close to my delicate bits was not great and the grow back was awful. So, never again.

Luckily I have never crossed paths with any man who is a modern incarnation of John Ruskin.

PeckhamPauline · 06/07/2018 09:11

Quick question , with the Hollywood , do they remove the fluff round your bum hole too ?

Yes, and with the Brazilian too. So I've just read.

I'm sure I didn't have any there in years gone by either. Or maybe I just never looked. I don't want to ask my ex!
Can one just get a round-the-bum-hole wax?

JabberWabber · 06/07/2018 09:12

I like neatly trimmed for comfort and hygiene but hairless vaginas are for prepubescent girls not adults. They've only become popular with adult women because so many men watch porn.

DistanceCall

"Hair does not re-grow spiky - that's a myth.

I have done it for years (in the shower), and have never got ingrown hairs or stubble or itchiness or anything like that."

That is Your personal experience, if that was the experience of most women then the company Bikini Zone would have gone out of business quickly.

The80sweregreat · 06/07/2018 09:15

I hate it all, shaving just grows back in days, the thought of a wax makes my eyes water, creams would just bring me out in rash, yet seeing it all there isnt nice either though! its all such a faff.
