Hairless foofs

Ginismyfriendx · 06/07/2018 01:02

So can't sleep and watching naked attraction (please do judge me, I deserve it)
Are completely bare foofs a thing now? Having had a nasty experience of an ingrown hair from shaving bikini line (which required anti-biotics) why go through that? Nevermind the faff. Who want's an evening shadow on their lady bits?
All for a bit of pruning, but uprooting?

JabberWabber, yes of course that's my personal experience. I wasn't writing a PhD thesis on foof hair removal.

Costacoffeeplease · 06/07/2018 09:18

I heard caroline Quentin (I think) on the radio this week describing a waxed vulva as having the look and feel of raw sausages Grin

No thanks

BertrandRussell · 06/07/2018 09:19

As I always say in these threads, there is a certain irony in the fact that in the 1970s women successfully campaigned to stop the automatic shaving of women on admission to a labour ward, and 40 years later those women’s daughters and grand daughters are embarrassed to be seen by a midwife with hair......

JabberWabber · 06/07/2018 09:24

"JabberWabber
I like neatly trimmed for comfort and hygiene"

Sorry meant to add by "hygiene" I mean that I sweat too much if I don't trim at all and it feels unpleasant also I seem to get "less fresh" more quickly.

BluebellsareBlue · 06/07/2018 09:24

I am hairless. The reason I do this is because my pubic hair is poker straight, I absolutely kid you not. If I let my hair grow back in, within a couple of weeks it looks like I've got Tina bloody Turner hiding in my pants about to belt out Nutbush City Limits!
So I go bald to de-Tina.

Oldagepensioner · 06/07/2018 09:25

I never have and never will.

TakeMeToKernow · 06/07/2018 09:26

I’m retiring from waxing. My younger self somehow found the money, but current self can’t belieeeeve how expensive it is.

And it was mostly for the OH’s benefit (he grew a beard for me, so...) but if a wax is £30, the IRR is now £15pershag. Poor value Grin

WigglyBlossom · 06/07/2018 09:28

I always wondered how long it would actually grow if we didn't trim or remove it? Knee length? Ankles? Shock

SoddingUnicorns · 06/07/2018 09:28

working on that theory how can you push another human out your body and not be 100% embarrassed at all the people watching you do it? And possibly stitching your hole up after?

My dad was inadvertently in the room (dropping off my case) when DD was halfway out, I can assure you I gave not one shit at the time. However have absolutely no inclination to get my fanny out in my dad’s presence ever again!

I’ve had 3 babies but I wouldn’t want to have someone wax me. It’s not really the same is it?

As I’ve said repeatedly, do as you please with your pubic hair. But this judgy shite is just that, shite.

The implications of women being dirty if they don’t are ridiculous though. Has nobody heard of washing???

Grandmaswagsbag · 06/07/2018 09:30

From my dabble into hair removal I think you’d be doing pretty well to feel as smooth as a raw sausage. Naked mole rat was more what sprang to mind.

I shaved since puberty because I had never seen any hint of pubic hair in the media and I thought it must be wrong and abnormal. I have horrible memories of waddling around aged 11 or 12 with the stubble itching and burning. I'm in my mid 20s and I do expect that porn culture was a big factor. I used to sit in my dad's garage looking at the page 3 girls in his pile of The Sun's and obsess over why my developing body looked nothing like theirs. I felt hideous.

I just trim with an electric razor now and it's a million times better, no itching and I haven't had a yeast infection since I stopped shaving it all off. I also feel empowered that I am making that decision for myself and not through pressure and shame, and I wish all women could feel the same empowerment to manage their body hair in the way which makes them happiest.

lifeisabeachsometimes · 06/07/2018 09:35

Why don't men wax off all their hair, they have far more of it and their bits would look much 'nicer' too I am sure. Hell would probably freeze over before any man I know would do that....why? Because they are happy with themselves as god intended.

There is something liberating about not caring and not having to do all of this waxing, apart from the pain, are we not lying there thinking of why we would spend so much money on this a) and b) the agony and why bother and c) we are beautiful as we are surely

JacquesHammer · 06/07/2018 09:38

I lost mine through illness. It only grows back since in one small irregular patch.

Being hair free during my hideous periods was a revelation as to how much easier it was for me. I wish I’d done it years before!

golondrina · 06/07/2018 09:39

I absolutely DO get spiky, itchy regrowth from waxing and especially on one side where the hairs seems to grow out under the skin so I get stubble rash. I hate it. I've started doing it only in the summer now when I'm in the pool much more (live in a hot country). I really resent that I have to literraly yank my pubes out by the roots to be "presentable" in a swimming costume. Makes me feel all radfem.

JellyBears · 06/07/2018 09:42

It’s cleaner and nicer and less messy when it’s the time of month..

Mari50 · 06/07/2018 09:43

In much the same way as I don’t really have any opinion on what other women do with the hair on their heads I’m not really bothered about their vulva either.
The expectation that women should conform to a defined aesthetic is more of a concern.
I’ve had both, I prefer to have a tidy hairy bush aesthetically, sexually and hygienically.
Bald/landing strip doesn’t do it for me on any level.
That said I like a naked bum hole.

EdmundCleverClogs · 06/07/2018 09:43

40 years later those women’s daughters and grand daughters are embarrassed to be seen by a midwife with hair......

None of my midwives were bald and I wasn’t embarrassed in the slightest.

Why do these threads always descend into one group patronising those who decide to shave with their ‘porn and patriarchy’ line, as if grown women can’t make up their own mind, thrown in by the other sides minority of idiots claiming body hair is ‘gross’.

Feminism is meant to be about choice, and many women choose to rid themselves of some or all body hair for many a reason. They’re not brainwashed by society and don’t need endless mansplaining by a minority about why they’re wrong to make a personal choice that has no ill effect and no baring on how others live their lives. Equally, most people don’t actually give a toss if your fanny is hairier than Chewbacca. Yes, sadly a minority will make ridiculous, childish comments, but that’s the case with anything in this world.

Non-shaving women are like the vegans of the feminist world. They may have a few good points, but it’s drowned out by self righteous indignation.

Layla8 · 06/07/2018 09:43

Used to have a Hollywood, but hate the regrowth, and the agony , so now shave every day, no problem if you exfoliate. Don’t know if he prefers it or not, he’s never known me any different, he has remarked though that women in his culture ( Turkish, no offence ) tend to be very hairy. I just love the feeling of being fresh down there, not logical, you’re just as clean with hair.

ferrier · 06/07/2018 09:46

Very rarely do you actually see women who shave down there being rude about those who don’t; it’s pretty much always the other way round

On mumsnet, yes you're right. In real life it is the other way round, especially among the younger generation.

I too was mortified (and exceptionally uncomfortable) when I had an operation which was nothing to do with my 'foof' and was given a very rough (under GA) bikini line shave. So from that point I've always shaved my bikini line (in the shower) and I do trim the rest. Not sure I'm brave enough to shave the whole lot though. I'm considering one of those Philips Lumeas but probably for a Brazilian look.

Racecardriver · 06/07/2018 09:47

Not only is it a thing now but it has become so pervasive that is a class marker. Blame porn culture.

Racecardriver · 06/07/2018 09:48

@ferrier I hope you complained, that is not ok

cholka · 06/07/2018 09:49

I'm curious about how those with bald fannies approach the issue with dds? Presumably they've seen you have no hair, when they grow it do you tell them it's not gross, or help them remove it? At what age is it reasonable to start removing it - I think mine were growing at primary school.
If you don't think dds should remove it then how do you explain that it's gross for grown women but not for girls/teenagers? I'd be very wary of letting someone young loose with a razor down there!
I'm in the hairy camp, I think hair removal is unarguably linked to porn aesthetics but that said I don't care if other people do it. I do think it's a bit sad if it's something you don't really want to do but have to in order to meet the expectations of sexual partners.

ferrier · 06/07/2018 09:50

I always wondered how long it would actually grow if we didn't trim or remove it? Knee length? Ankles?

The hair on your head has a natural length beyond which it can't grow. Determined not by how fast it grows (everyone's hair grows at the same rate) but by how soon it falls out. I assume pubic hair is the same. In the days when I didn't trim I'd say mine got to about two inches max but obviously a bit curly.

JacquesHammer · 06/07/2018 09:52

Different for me as I lost the bulk through illness but I remove the small remaining bit as it grows incredibly coarsly and makes my leg skin sore. I just explain that to her.

She shaves her armpits/legs - she isn’t interested in pubic hair removal although sometimes trims the length with scissors. She’s 11.

Racecardriver · 06/07/2018 09:52

@lifeisabitchsonetimes I can tell you from personal experience that men also look much worse when they remove their body hair and because they have more hair they look much worse. #scaredforlife
