I think my friend should pay, she thinks we should split it?

Driving a friend 4 hours away for an operation (cosmetic) and will use 2 full tanks of fuel in my car, cost of a hotel, food while I'm there and I'm using a days annual leave.
She wants to split all costs down the middle, whereas I think I'm using my holiday entitlement and 2 days of my time (which I am more than happy to give up) but don't think I should be paying for fuel, or for the hotel? I've said I'll pay for all my own food.
Her logic is we're both going so why should only she pay, she's already paying lots for surgery.
My logic is I wouldn't be going if it wasn't to do her a favour so don't see it fair to split costs.
Whats the right thing to do here? Don't want to be mean but trying to be fair...

If it's boobs there is absolutely no way on this earth will she be able to navigate around public transport! I couldn't even move / lift both my arms never mind be out & about shuffling around people carrying a bag etc .... ( from past experience)

If she wants your services as friend/helper she should foot the WHOLE bill.

Let's hope she can find another helper that was as kind as you ..... cos if it's boobs & she doesn't have anyone to help her she going to be massively fucked .... very painful recovery. No way could I have done travelling etc with no assistance.

The cheek of some people. She wants you to do her the favour of driving up to London (stressful and very expensive), hang around for two days and using up a days leave while waiting for her to get her operations done and originally wanted you to pay half. Not a holiday as you are on your own, you don't want to spend the money and an incredible amount of stress for a person who freely admits they will be ceasing contact AFTER you have done her this favour. No wonder she doesn't have friends falling over themselves to offer to help.
