How often do you get a haircut?

I haven’t been to the salon since November. The hairdresser said we should go every six weeks Confused but that seems expensive and I’m trying to grow my hair... if I went that often my hair would never grow!

about 3-4 times a year, £90 a go, to keep it roughly same length. don't colour my hair (asI can do it at home for 10% of salon "colourist" price and sometimes more creatively/better).

HildaZelda · 28/04/2018 17:32

I used to go every 4 weeks but I'm growing out a pixie cut so haven't been in 8 months now. I'm dreading going back. Both for cost reasons and because I've never had a hairdresser actually do what I want. This is the reason I started growing it in the first place.

toolonglurking · 28/04/2018 17:32

About every 3 years, but my hair is forever in a mum bun so you'd never know.

DickensianHysteric · 28/04/2018 17:33

I haven't been since January. My hair's not that long but it's really thick so I need to get it cut soon, keep putting it off as I hate going to the hairdresser's.

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 28/04/2018 17:33

Every 4 weeks...very short hair

tinykirst · 28/04/2018 17:34

I used to only go when I really needed it doing but I've started going every 8 weeks now. I only have a trim so only costs £15 - but with having a new baby it helps me feel like I'm having some me time!

It depends on the length and style of your hair for how often you need to go. If it's short you'll need to go every 4-6 weeks but if it's long and a simple style you can leave it until you want/need to go

Longdistance · 28/04/2018 17:34

When I have the time and money really. So I’d say every 4 months if I’m lucky.
I usually go for a cut and foils. I had a cut about a month ago, so might go when the summer holidays are here.

RubyJack · 28/04/2018 17:35

Every 3 to 4 weeks

isthistoonosy · 28/04/2018 17:35

About once every 10 yrs, I've had two professional cuts as an adult.
But my fair os very curly and generaly tied up.

Sparklesocks · 28/04/2018 17:35

I tend to go every 2 months (every other payday) because I have quite fine, layered hair which looks limp and dull when it gets too long.
Also I have a fringe which i get trimmed every month Smile

GrannyHeadology · 28/04/2018 17:36

Every 6 - 8 weeks for a colour and a trim, I’m growing my hair so she only ever thins it out and takes the very ends off

PUGaLUGS · 28/04/2018 17:37

Every six weeks.

Happygummibear · 28/04/2018 17:37

At the moment every 8 weeks and I will probably carry that on. However my cut needs it.

If you are trying to grow your hair out you should at least get a trim as that will encourage growth.

For info there is a certain gene you need to have long hair. My hair won't grow past my shoulder blades.... I have tried.

MrsRonBurgundy · 28/04/2018 17:38

Every 5 weeks for highlights and a cut. My hair grows really quickly and i can’t cope with roots, I feel really shabby for the last week before my appointment!

ragged · 28/04/2018 17:38

Once a year. Never like how they cut my hair so just cut to tame it down for a while.

Octonaught · 28/04/2018 17:40

I have long hair, and get roots & highlights done at same time so about every 3 months, as it’s about £90 a pop.
It could do with doing now, it’s been about 8 weeks

greendale17 · 28/04/2018 17:40

Every 4 months

myidentitymycrisis · 28/04/2018 17:41

every half term

Oysterbabe · 28/04/2018 17:41

About once a year. I really should go more often as it always looks so nice for a few weeks after but I just never seem to find the time.

TwoBlueFish · 28/04/2018 17:43

2 or 3 times a year and get 3 or 4 inches cut off. My hair grows quite fast but it’s all one length and not coloured so no style as such that needs regular maintenance.

TrashPanda · 28/04/2018 17:45

I haven't had mine cut for 2 years and the fringe that was put in is down to my shoulders. The ends are starting to get very ratty. I desperately need it doing but I don't know what I want so I keep putting it off!

happymummy12345 · 28/04/2018 17:45

I haven't had my hair done since a August 2012, the day before my mums second wedding. I was meant to have it done the morning of my own wedding, but the hairdresser didn't turn up and gave me no warning, so I didn't have it done.

ShinyMe · 28/04/2018 17:48

As rarely as possible. I hate salons with a passion. I'd rather go to the dentist and then have a smear.

I had to go to the hairdresser last summer for help after my scissors broke mid trim at home and I ended up very lopsided. My hair is just long and straight with no layers or anything, just cut straight across the back. I do it myself, when I can be bothered.

bonbonbonblue · 28/04/2018 17:52

2-3 times a year. I hate small chat. My hairs long so I can get away with it.

Idratherhaveacupoftea · 28/04/2018 18:01

6 weeks, my hair is short but very thick. If I leave it, it grows out not down.Confused
