How often do you get a haircut?

I haven’t been to the salon since November. The hairdresser said we should go every six weeks Confused but that seems expensive and I’m trying to grow my hair... if I went that often my hair would never grow!

About every six months when it hits shoulder length. Wet cut for £25, I like my natural colours (the dark brown and the spreading white) so that's not an issue.

Boggling at £90!

lhastingsmua · 28/04/2018 21:23

I have slightly damaged hair and want to grow it out and get it as healthy as possible after years of extensions/heavy styling/colouring.

My hair is fine, so you can tell when it needs a trim as it looks ‘wispy’ towards the ends and I lose that thickness of a fresh cut.

I love how fuller my hair looks/feels after a salon visit so I go every 6-8 weeks for a general trim and blow dry rather than a full restyle. I’m not sure on how often I’ll get my colour touched up going forwards as I currently have a balayage blended into my natural colour, so we’ll see how it lasts.

ohtheholidays · 28/04/2018 21:25

Every 6 weeks,my hairs very long, thick and wavy and it grows really quickly so I need to have my layers thinned out and my fringe trimmed every 6 weeks.

BarbaraOcumbungles · 28/04/2018 21:29

Every 5 weeks. I have a chin length bob that looks scruffy if it isn't cut frequently. I've been using the same hairdresser for 10 years, she's awesome.

DameLillyTillicut · 28/04/2018 21:38

Not for the last 15 years... I do trim the ends blunt when they look a bit too wild.

Last time I went for a trim they cut off 8 inches and had the cheek to "aww bless" me when I didn't have a style in mind (do I need one for a trim, you patronising twit?Angry) Now my style is Wild Rapunzel.

MsJudgemental · 28/04/2018 21:41

Every 6-8 weeks, roots and trim, occasional foils.

MsJudgemental · 28/04/2018 21:42

She’s a friend and comes to me, though.

DragonMummy1418 · 28/04/2018 21:42

Once a year 😂

NotAnotherNoughtiesTune · 28/04/2018 21:43

3-4 times a year.

Smurfy23 · 28/04/2018 21:46

Had mine cut today for first time since dec. I hate getting it cut- just feels like a faff but the length was too long and the greys were too many! The hairdresser comes to my house now but still hate it!

Jessikita · 28/04/2018 21:49

Every 10 weeks. I’ve tried earlier and longer and this is about perfect for my style and hair type etc

madamginger · 28/04/2018 21:54

Once or twice a year. I don’t really enjoy going and I colour my own hair at home.

Panda81 · 28/04/2018 22:00

At my favourite salon I used to pay £130 for either half head or ombré with cut and blow dry. Next time I want full head highlights as I wear it up all the time (baby pulling hair age) and it will be £170 😱 but it's my me time, I feel pampered and spend 3/4 hours there, 30-40 minutes at the sink and have a head massage too. But because of the price I go about 2-3 times a year. Not been to this one since last August. I'm really fussy when it comes to who does my colour. I tried a different salon in Feb and the colour was just all wrong.

I do need to find somewhere cheaper though as I really can't justify spending that kind of money...

kally195 · 28/04/2018 22:00

Every 7 weeks, £130ish a pop. Love my hairdresser to bits - she is worth every penny.

GinUser · 28/04/2018 22:06

At the moment every 4 weeks, but a short cut. I have been with my hairdresser for about 25 years now.

RosaBaby2 · 28/04/2018 22:21

Once a year on average. Have very long hair so it just gets shoved in a ponytail or bun anyway

KateWindmumof3 · 28/04/2018 22:26

Not been for 3 years

VanGoghsLeftEar · 28/04/2018 22:36

I have very thick hair. Got it all chopped off in the New Year but I had a sweepy fringe which just got in my eyes. Because of how thick it is, it takes forever to style and then after about a week refuses to behave so I give up. I'm growing it out again, at least then when It's long enough I can plait it and forget about it. Normally when the hair was long, I'd go three times a year. Now I'll go more until it's evened out enough to leave alone.

Getting a hair cut is so expensive! £43 at my local salon.

TooManyPaws · 28/04/2018 22:37

Last went about 2 years ago. Mine is below my waist so all I wanted was the straggly ends tidied up. She announced that "hair was dead after two years" and cut a whole load off to my upset.

I've got my mum's hairdressing scissors so I do my own ends and split ends, as well as trim and layer my fringe myself.

I'm getting annoyed at the grey not coming through fast enough as I want to play with pink and other semi permanents without bleaching. No doubt will be like Mum and not be fully grey in my eighties. Humphhh.

saucepot8 · 28/04/2018 22:43

The last one was five years ago. My hair has gone from shoulder length to the top of my butt. Classy.

Dogsmom · 28/04/2018 22:52

Every 30 years.

I had a mobile come to the house when I was 10 then at 40 decided to have a bob which was a huge mistake and now aged 43 I'm happy to wait another 27 years before I set foot in a hairdressers again.

Gillian1980 · 28/04/2018 22:57

Last year I had it cut once. This year I’ve been for a trim twice already which is pretty unusual for me!
I colour it at home and get a dry trim for about £15 every few months.

gamerwidow · 28/04/2018 23:05

Every 6 weeks otherwise my hair loses its shape and starts to look like Lego Hair

lavendargreen · 28/04/2018 23:14

Haven't been for 3 years. Colour it myself and snip it myself.
