How often do you get a haircut?

I haven’t been to the salon since November. The hairdresser said we should go every six weeks Confused but that seems expensive and I’m trying to grow my hair... if I went that often my hair would never grow!

Every 10/12 weeks for cut, colour ( highlights) and blow dry. Pre kids it was about every 8 weeks. But I have less time these days. I have long thick hair so I’m the salon for about 4 hours so I delay as much as I can get always with. It looks a bit rubbish for the last few weeks - I tend to curl it more towards the end and don’t have straight parting to make it less obvious.

Walkacrossthesand · 28/04/2018 18:20

I have a layered style & go every 8 weeks or so - wet cut, £26 a time. Good cut, too, it lasts well and I book appointment when it 'drops' - to the poster upthread who spends £90 on a cut, Shock!

JaceLancs · 28/04/2018 18:21

Every 6 weeks, trim and root touch up, if I leave it any longer it starts to get out of shape and my greys start to show

Wiggler1 · 28/04/2018 18:24

About twice a year, but I’m growing it and it’s my natural colour.

ilovesooty · 28/04/2018 18:28

Every four weeks. Cut and colour.

SpectacularAardvark · 28/04/2018 18:33

A couple of times a year when it needs a trim. It's expensive and an uncomfortable experience. Why hairdressers can't just shut up and cut your hair, I'll never know. I suppose it makes the day go faster for them but it's really annoying.

steff13 · 28/04/2018 18:35

Every six weeks. I keep my hair long, but u can't stand seeing long hair that's unkempt. I get it trimmed and layered.

SpectacularAardvark · 28/04/2018 18:35

Sorry if I've just pissed off all the hairdressers Blush

Tryagaintomorrow · 28/04/2018 18:36

Cut about once a year, and I’m sure it’s a myth that you need to cut it regularly to grow it!

Colour is done more often, every few months when I can’t cope with the roots anymore!

chewablemunchkin · 28/04/2018 18:36

Once a year! Usually an Xmas treat off mother. I HATE folk touching my head.

londonrach · 28/04/2018 18:38

About every 18 months but thats due to cost and who look after a toddler. I dont think i know any mums who gone to hair dresser recently due to toddlers

londonrach · 28/04/2018 18:39

I just paid £16 to havemy hair cut from long to short hoping last another 18 months

FindoGask · 28/04/2018 18:44

Every 2 weeks. I do it myself using a clipper with a 4 (sides) and 6 (top) guard.

HRTpatch · 28/04/2018 18:48

Every 6 weeks, cut and roots

TeisanLap · 28/04/2018 18:48

Every 5 to 6 weeks

Pandora1box · 28/04/2018 18:48

About 3 times a year. Last went in December so I'm due a cut and colour - loads of gray coming through! I'll make an appointment over May half term.

PollyPofter · 28/04/2018 19:00

I say 8 weeks but it depends on what people pay my stylist I had since 15 so 20 years she now charges 42 for cut and blow dry!

ImFreeToDoWhatIWant · 28/04/2018 19:02

2 maybe 3 times a year, £20 for a wet cut in a basic local, and cheap, two chair salon. Never had colours, proper 'styles', blow dries or any of that stuff.

Ilovewillow · 28/04/2018 19:08

Every 5 weeks but I have super short hair in a pixie style so it's ready by then. When I had long hair it was more like 10 weeks!

MrsLaurac · 28/04/2018 19:56

Usually every 6 to 8 weeks however this time ive not been for going on four months and ive had so many compliments about my colour recently because its milded itself out a lot and its grown loads and is really healthy meant to be going in 2 weeks but considering leaving it a while longer

Mamabear1475 · 28/04/2018 19:58

Last time I went was two years ago. I do it myself. I want to grow it and it only needs a trim and a few layers adding every few months. I'm not paying £30 for something I can do myself

MrMeeseeks · 28/04/2018 19:58

Every 7-8 weeks for cut and colour. Need to keep the greys in check!

MrsLaurac · 28/04/2018 19:59

Oh and cost wise used to be £75 but amazingly found my perfect hairdresser who charges £40 for cut colour and then curl or put up if i am off out and she throws in a wine too!

MismatchedStripySocks · 28/04/2018 20:00

Last time September 2017, just made an appointment for next week. Can’t wait! My split ends are out of control Grin

PlatypusPie · 28/04/2018 20:06

10-12 weeks for a cut and colour - she does a highlight/ low light dark blonde which means I don’t have a definite growth line. The cue for me needing an appointment is me looking in the mirror at about 9 weeks and thinking how nice it looks because , 100 % guarantee, I will look like a particularlly witchy witch the next day and have to wear it up until I can get it done. You’d think I’d have learnt by now .....
