In a Controlling Relationship with DCat

Not really AIBU but need to vent.

He is micromanaging and controlling me all the time, but today I am working from home and finding it very tough: now feed me, let me out, let me in, cuddle me, let's walk on your laptop, pay attention to me, let me sit on your lap, let me taste your porridge. He pushes my laptop away and dropped my phone to the floor a minute ago. I don't have a moment peace. He comes on conference calls too.

I have barricaded myself in the study. He is outside the door miawing and banging his toy on the door.

(he is OK and all the time like this, nothing wrong with him except boredom)

lol sounds like my grumpy overlord !

Gruach · 27/04/2018 14:37

Get him a friend?

blackteasplease · 27/04/2018 14:38

Not very funny though, controlling relationships.

Furano · 27/04/2018 14:39

I wish mine loved me as much as your Dcat loves you. You are lucky.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 27/04/2018 14:41

Can I have him?

Trinity66 · 27/04/2018 14:41

He's emotionally abusing you, ltb

TSSDNCOP · 27/04/2018 14:44

Mine loves me that much. This morning as a sign of his devotion he sat on my pillow chewing my hair until I woke up and could start stroking him.

He’s also learning a new trick where he attempts to walk along the very narrow headboard and footboard. He’s very crap at this but is persevering so valiantly that DH has threatened to shut him out. Yes, really!!

DH is so silly if he thinks DCat will be deterred by a door. He just dedicates hours to scratching away at the frame and banging his shoulder on the door.

Trinity66 · 27/04/2018 14:49

He just dedicates hours to scratching away at the frame and banging his shoulder on the door.

I totally read this as "he just defecates" Grin

But yeah my fella has genuinely actually managed to open my bedroom door a few times!

WatchingFromTheWings · 27/04/2018 14:50

Have my first ever LTB.

QueenOfAccidentalDeathStares · 27/04/2018 14:53

grumpy demands breakfast wakes me up by combing my hair...

MrsMoastyToasty · 27/04/2018 14:55

I have a controlling DCat. He doesn't like anyone else around me. If I cuddle up to DH then he will sit on the arm of the sofa giving him evils.

POPholditdown · 27/04/2018 14:58

If I’m in bed, I’m not allowed to move my legs because apparently they make the perfect bed for one of my catsHmm

When the inevitable cramps kick in and I move slightly, she goes off in a sulk.

scaryteacher · 27/04/2018 14:59

One of mine will throw items from bedside tables on to the floor if he thinks that his needs aren't being attended to with enough alacrity in the mornings. He managed to paw dh's work phone, expensive watch and his specs (which chipped) on to the floor, all whilst looking like butter wouldn't melt between his paws.

gamerchick · 27/04/2018 15:00

It sounds funny and as my cats a pain in the arse and I’m immune to her demands and she’s not an affectionate cat anyway (unless it’s 8pm and goes to the husband for her nightly fuss. My friends cat is right in your face and christ you don’t get a minutes peace. I couldn’t live with that at all. Makes me thankful mines an arrogant git. Grin

Paie · 27/04/2018 15:02

One of mine is like this!

so demanding, relentless need for constant attention.

When he decides to curl up next to me in bed- if I dare move too much I get woken up with my arm/leg in one of his death grips- either gnawing me slowly to death or clawing me...

ClaryFray · 27/04/2018 15:02

Mine was the same today. Something in the water.

BattleaxeGalactica · 27/04/2018 15:02

LTB Grin

Dcat and I have been disagreeing on who owns my the computer chair this week. She'd forgotten she ever liked it up to a few days ago but is now defending her claim enthusiastically Hmm

AlexaAmbidextra · 27/04/2018 15:02

I’m so glad to hear that other cats are determined to clear surfaces. I’ve had a bare dressing table for years. 😸

Paie · 27/04/2018 15:03

But then again he has me hook line and sinker with that cute little fluffy face and his silly moustache...

Paie · 27/04/2018 15:05

Opening doors?!
Mine headbutts doors until they open, opens cupboards somehow and if he manages to get through the 3 doors between him and the cat food pouches- he'll chew through the box AND the foil pouch to get to the food inside...

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 27/04/2018 15:07

Get him a friend?

Don't do this. I have two of them fighting over whether one can will delete work faster than the other one hashtags text. It will just double the hassle. Particularly don't get one which is white and moulting over your keyboard.

MikeUniformMike · 27/04/2018 15:11

LTB

LittleLionMansMummy · 27/04/2018 15:12

I have similar feelings about my toddler daughter. She's a pint sized dictator.

TomRavenscroft · 27/04/2018 15:14

He comes on conference calls too. Grin I love that idea. It'd perk up the duller ones, I assume.

We need a pic.

theunsure · 27/04/2018 15:14

I have 3 of these. They are always trying to make me go to bed so they can snuggle. Drives me potty.

They also know to the millisecond when it is tea time. You literally cannot be late for tea or they will starve.

I echo the comments about not getting more. 99% of the time we have one of next-doors DCat's in too so there are 4 of them ganging up on me.

Also DO NOT get chickens - I am often forced to remain indoors other wise I get viciously assaulted by my DHens.
