In a Controlling Relationship with DCat

Not really AIBU but need to vent.

He is micromanaging and controlling me all the time, but today I am working from home and finding it very tough: now feed me, let me out, let me in, cuddle me, let's walk on your laptop, pay attention to me, let me sit on your lap, let me taste your porridge. He pushes my laptop away and dropped my phone to the floor a minute ago. I don't have a moment peace. He comes on conference calls too.

I have barricaded myself in the study. He is outside the door miawing and banging his toy on the door.

(he is OK and all the time like this, nothing wrong with him except boredom)

YANBU OP, I'm the same with my DCat. He always wants to sit where I'm sitting. As soon as I get up, for the loo, to make a brew etc, he jumps straight into my seat!

Plus he hangs around in our bedroom in the early hours and the second my alarm goes off, he's jumping all over me, purring and demanding food. If I dare go to the loo first, he's in the loo weaving through my legs and pawing at me. He has dry food, so he can't be that hungry, otherwise he'd eat that instead of constantly asking for wet food.

I made the mistake of buying mine a tin of tuna as a treat.
Now I have to buy them all the time as ordinary cat food Is Not Good Enough for Her Majesty The Cat.
We don't have a "relationship" she is the almighty ruler and I am a serf.

We’ve only had our dictator for a couple of months since he shamelessly threw himself at us at the animal shelter. A sling may be a good plan as he loves to be carried around. He seems to like me the best so now have 4 needy individuals wanting a piece of me. The worst time was when DH went with the kids to the in-laws. I had to watch Netflix for 6 hours straight with only chocolate and wine to keep me going. Cat just refused to move.

My unleavable bastard just dragged DP's coat off the back of a kitchen chair then made himself into an evil caterpillar.

This is after waking us up at 5am by knocking everything off both bedside tables and eating my last supply of monthly contact lenses.

I assume the lenses weren't toxic?

Haha I love purrito! Re the lenses - they were just in saline solution in a case - he didn't actually swallow them, just chewed them a little and left them to dry out on the floor. He's currently purring on my chest and trying to lick my nose.

On the days I work from home, dear cat 1 plonks herself on my laptop before I get the chance to switch it on. She won't move. That face says "you shall not pay attention to anything but meeeee". It works.

The garden is the only possible location for my boycat if I'm trying to work, or do anything similar to work, from home. Girl cat is also cuddly if awake but will snuggle up and keep still instead of repeatedly walking on the keys.
This morning's request for breakfast and the outdoors was 5:30. I need blackout blinds for the whole house I think!!

My cat has worked out doors. He jumps up and launches himself onto the handle to get in, there truly is no escaping him. The top half of the front door is glass and he will just constantly jump up and head but the door unt8l he’s let him

My madam likes to sleep right at the bottom of my feet so I can't stretch my feet or on top of my head. She hisses at dh if he comes near me and is my self appointed body guard.

When we first got ours, we were told by the owners of the Mum that it was a little girl cat. Had to do a swift name change when the vet had a good long look and said 'well, they're smaller than peas and it's hard to tell with a black kitten but they're definitely there!'

I'm going to say it: overlords are better than dogs. They exhude defiance in an astounding way.. And when they show you a bit of love you're so grateful.

I nearly burnt my dinner last night because dcat2 was on my lap and refused to move. He has his own blanket. It’s actually my lap blanket but he’s adopted it and he insists on sitting on it. Especially if it’s on my knee.

Dcat1 prefers the sky box to my knee. I had to get a new one as he kept changing the channel and blocking the signal from the remote. The new box is much smaller but he still insists on sitting on it.

It's springs I mine have gone a bit manic.One has started hunting out ankles as we walk across the room.If they get too much I drug them with catnip.

I miss having cats

But dh is allergic, so I content myself by lunging at any cat that vaguely shows an interest.

I was saying earlier that DCat is my stalker!! She hates rain so doesn’t go out when weather is wet and goes a bit bonkers.

This is making me feel lucky that I have a 'stand offish' type Dcat.
I'm fact, after reading these posts, she's pretty perfect.
