In a Controlling Relationship with DCat

Not really AIBU but need to vent.

He is micromanaging and controlling me all the time, but today I am working from home and finding it very tough: now feed me, let me out, let me in, cuddle me, let's walk on your laptop, pay attention to me, let me sit on your lap, let me taste your porridge. He pushes my laptop away and dropped my phone to the floor a minute ago. I don't have a moment peace. He comes on conference calls too.

I have barricaded myself in the study. He is outside the door miawing and banging his toy on the door.

(he is OK and all the time like this, nothing wrong with him except boredom)

Maybe you can get him a DMouse or some Dtreats later when you go to the DShop.

Does sound like a Dcontrolling DDevil of a Dcat though!

You have my DSympathy.

lavendargreen · 28/04/2018 13:57

Saucyjack your cat is lush. Smile

YouTheCat · 28/04/2018 13:59

My cat hits me.

SilverySurfer · 28/04/2018 14:15

Poor OP, it's obvious what the problem is. Once you learn that cat = master/mistress and human = slave you can live a fulfilled and happy life. Fight against the inevitable and it will be a life of pain Grin

Mangopr1 · 28/04/2018 14:22

I'm lay in the bath right now laughing away at your post and notice I have my very own peeping Tom up above.

Mine waits until DP goes to work then gets on the bed and jumps up and down - on me. If that doesn’t get me out of bed she lifts the covers from where I am hiding and hits me in the face.

She is currently on our snoring like a drunk old man. She looks huge on the photo .. she’s just very fluffy!

My Dcat has recently decided he doesn’t control me enough and will now monitor what I watch on TV. So if he deems it’s not suitable (or he’s bored, hungry or just not getting enough attention) he sits right in front of the tv in the middle. I swear he almost smirks as if to say Ha! DS will move him but 10 seconds later he’s back 🙀

Odiepants · 28/04/2018 18:25

I have 3 Dcats. 2 do their own thing most of the time.

DC3, who came from a rescue centre last summer is Mr Needy and Anxious. He tells me when it's bed time and herds me upstairs. Then he must sit on the windowsill to 'guard' me before curling up round my head. After a shower he will be waiting so he can get in and lick out the bath. He is waiting on the drive when I get home. He's lovely, just intense!

Davros · 28/04/2018 18:39

Reading a lot of these posts I'm glad I didn't allow DCat into the bedroom at night when she first came. However, when DH is away and I want her to sleep with me, she's not interested boo hoo

ToPlanZ · 28/04/2018 18:39

YANBU it's time to nip this in the bud otherwise you will end up like me. I have to be accompanied to the shower and watched, if I need a wee I now have knee based supervision. Petting must be done immediately upon request otherwise physical punishment is meted out. Dcat tries to even take the food from my mouth and sleep next to me under the duvet with his head on the pillow. Won't allow other Dcat to cuddle, not keen on DS and is almost mute except to object to DH. Behaves beautifully in front of guests, although he flirts outrageously with female ones. I used to think I was a strong, independent woman. Now my life is controlled by a 5 kilo beast who hates outdoors and is scared shitless of birds.

ALongHardWinter · 28/04/2018 18:50

He comes on conference calls too. Grin Love that!

Brendaofbeechhouse · 28/04/2018 22:10

Dcat, if annoyed will hit my dh, dh then apologises to the cat for upsetting him. Also if dh is watching something on YouTube that fact disapproves of he will bite dh's hand then stalk off. He has a particular aversion to. Pj Harvey.

YouTheCat · 28/04/2018 22:13

DCat will stare at me at bed time to get me to bugger off so she can have my warm seat.

She meows at dp when he comes in from work until he gives her fussings and if he's on a late, she meows whilst looking at the door.

Juells · 28/04/2018 22:13

That's an abusive relationship right there 😡

YouTheCat · 28/04/2018 22:13

But she has a beautiful smile.

Currently nursing a sore nose as ours gave me a good grooming earlier which ended with him biting my nostril.

echt · 28/04/2018 22:27

My cat starts fights with the dog to get me up, charging round the bedroom and banging into the furniture. They're in it together. Bastards.

TooManyPaws · 28/04/2018 22:28

I have one who treats the place like a hotel - in through the cat flap, demands food and buggers off out again. My much-missed placid old boy used to high five everyone, barge the dogs aside etc but he also used to change all the settings on the laptop and box my ear from the sofa arm if dinner was late.

A previous overlord gave me a black eye...

MsJudgemental · 28/04/2018 22:30

But he’s gorgeous.

Ms.Judgemental- Reminds me of my much loved Lilac colorpoint Persian, we adored her.

This is my dcat who from a small kitten has always had to sleep next to me, sit on my lap, assist with the computer, changes channels on the TV. He is very vocal

There's an old cat I see on my way to work. He sees me coming down the street and runs to meet me, gives me little chirrups and goes round my legs. He's a real character.

AlexaAmbidextra · 29/04/2018 02:15

Madam has decided that I need to be herded around the house which she achieves by chasing behind me and nipping my heels at every step. Good job I’m usually in trousers.

My cat is in love with DH. His head has been turned with prawns and vigorous back scratching. I know I should stop doing the pick me dance but I can’t help it because he’s so snuggly and cute.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 29/04/2018 12:21

You'll just have to up the stakes - fresh tuna and 'back of the neck' scratching along with 'under the chin' rubbing. Don't let him win.

MereDintofPandiculation · 29/04/2018 12:32

I had to have a lie in this morning because one cat was on top of the duvet against the back of my knees and another was underneath, curled up against my tummy, purring. To do anything other than go back to sleep and wait for breakfast to be on the table would have been rude.
