to stop people 'making memories'

DiplomaticDecorum · 13/04/2018 14:16

It's a pissy pants phrase - every time it's mentioned it makes me heave. Just stop, you sound ridiculous, every fucking minute of every fucking day is making fucking memories, it's how we as a species survive.

Bugger off and live in Disneyland with all of the little tweety birdies and pink bollocking princess fluffy crap. Start living life as an educated grown up, stop with the stupid filtered selfies, and stop being so bloody feeble. Hope this has made a new memory for you all. Now fuck off.

OP posts:
crunchymint · 13/04/2018 14:19

Agree with you OP.
Also the things I remember from my childhood are not the things my parents would expect me to remember. Like my GP making poo jokes is my only memory of a big special day out. I don't think that would have been classed as making memories.

Hassled · 13/04/2018 14:19

You've made a wonderful memory writing that post. It will stay with you and fill you with happiness, always.

crunchymint · 13/04/2018 14:20

Or alternatively you will remember OP being banned from MN after telling various commenters to fuck off?

BaldricksTrousers · 13/04/2018 14:20

Sounds like you need to take some time to

live
laugh
love

TheQueenOfWands · 13/04/2018 14:20

I have a friend who's busy 'making memories' every day.

She's so busy doing so her husband has to work 7 days a week...

I roll my eyes when I see her posts.

MissionItsPossible · 13/04/2018 14:20

Who pissed in your cornflakes this morning?

Amirite · 13/04/2018 14:21

I am so on board with this. Every fucking moment needs to be fucking eternalised on fuckin Facebook for a few fucking likes.

Aahhh, I feel better now.

Afonavon · 13/04/2018 14:22

I agree 100%! Watching fb freiends out-smug each other has lead to me prune my friend list a couple of times. Ironically not focusing on making the memories as much as creating the image of making the memories.

halfwitpicker · 13/04/2018 14:22

Totally agree op.

ThisIsTheFirstStep · 13/04/2018 14:22

But they’re #blessed OP, why can’t you share in their happiness?

TeisanLap · 13/04/2018 14:22

Op, you seem like someone who needs nice memories to look back on.

Hassled · 13/04/2018 14:22

Actually you've reminded me of when DS1 went to see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers when he was 17 or so, and came home to tell me it was the best day of his life. I was inwardly incensed - what about all those best days I had lovingly provided? Did that holiday on the beach count for nothing? No, that was all pissed away for a bit of Californication. So - yeah, you're right. Kids don't "make memories" the way we want them to.

Lottapianos · 13/04/2018 14:23

Totally with you OP. Do your nice things and take your photos and make your memories, but stop posting the whole damn thing on Facebook with nauseating twee hashtags. Puke.

Buzzlightyearsbumchin · 13/04/2018 14:23

#makingmemorieswithDiplomaticDecorum

I have the warm and fuzzies now.

JeNeSuisPasVotreMiel · 13/04/2018 14:23

I'm with you OP.
Ffs it's a cognitive process not a lifestyle choice.

AAAAARGH!!!!

turnipfarmers · 13/04/2018 14:24

I know somebody who complains about how awful her life is, in the last two weeks they have posted photos of visits to another city for sightseeing, to a large theme park, a trip abroad for a weekend, out for lunch at a snazzy restaurant, a trip to the zoo and so on.

Yeah, it looks really awful. All these are shared as 'making memories'
Still, it hopefully cheers her up whilst making those of us with nothing regret all the things we can't provide for our children.

CloudCaptain · 13/04/2018 14:24

Pm me hun.

PositivelyPERF · 13/04/2018 14:24

Who pissed in your cornflakes this morning?

I think you’d really remember that happening. 🤣

SoyDora · 13/04/2018 14:25

Problem is, a lot of people seem to think that if they don’t put it on Facebook then it didn’t happen.

PinkCalluna · 13/04/2018 14:25

Goodness OP you sound a bit tetchy.

Rather than being rude to a bunch of strangers on MN perhaps either leave FB or improve your friends.

No one on my FB feed posts anything about “making memories” and there are very few filtered selfies.

Take a deep breath, perhaps have a nice cup of tea.

TheQueenOfWands · 13/04/2018 14:25

Don't forget the twee signage:

"Excuse the mess, the children are making memories..!"

Clean your house. Slattern. Unless salmonella poisoning and cholera count as memories.

BabiesComeWithHats · 13/04/2018 14:26

all pissed away for a bit of Californication

Properly laughed at that.

SomeKnobend · 13/04/2018 14:26

Um, are you OK?

HolyMountain · 13/04/2018 14:26

DiplomaticDecorum Grin love your OP.

user1499786242 · 13/04/2018 14:26
