What things are acceptable to do in your PJs then?

Answer the door

Put the bins out.

Go down to breakfast in someone’s house.

Go down to breakfast in a hotel

Early morning dog walk

Go to the shops.

Do the school run.

??

I would (and do!) do all except the last three because I am terminally lazy and rarely dressed before noon if I don’t have to be. AIBU and a dreadful skank?

The first 2, plus break into my own house after I locked myself out chasing the bin men Blush

Redglitter · 04/04/2018 23:44

I love my pjs but the only things on your list I'd do is answer the door & go to breakfast in friends house. Wouldn't consider going to the shops or going to breakfast in a hotel in them

AgnesBrownsCat · 04/04/2018 23:44

Sleep and housework

wildduckhunt · 04/04/2018 23:46

The first two, but only if unavoidable -e.g. if DH is around I’ll ask him to do it.

I don’t wear a bra with my pjs so that’s my main motivation.

BakedBeans47 · 04/04/2018 23:46

The first two only.

I once went out in PJs to pick up DH when he crashed his bike but that was a one off! My PJs are just like black leggings and tops though

Popc0rn · 04/04/2018 23:48

I'd say the last four are a bit skanky tbh...you'd go down to breakfast in your dressing gown in a hotel?! Hmm That's a bit grim.

When I lived in Liverpool it was pretty standard to see people in pjs shopping round ASDA etc all hours of the day though.

RebelRogue · 04/04/2018 23:48

I always find these threads and the outrage on them funny. I don't really have pj's, I sleep in a tshirt and knickers and once I'm up and about I just pull a pair of tracksuit bottoms/leggings on. Sometimes it's even the same pair a few days in a row. So I'm technically in my PJ's all day, might go to the shops or school run or whatever but...no one knows.Grin

PollyMycroft · 04/04/2018 23:50

First two....just; and only in full length pjs 😁

Bluelady · 04/04/2018 23:50

In a hotel? Really?

Petitepamplemousse · 04/04/2018 23:51

I would answer the door - ruder to leave it unanswered IMO. Also I would go down to the kitchen to make tea and toast in a friend’s house in PJs - maybe not if it wasn’t someone I know well, but I am definitely close enough with all my friends to have breakfast in pyjamas. We would often have shared a bed as well so they’d hardly be surprised!

ShadesOfHoratio · 04/04/2018 23:53

I would do the first two. Plus the third if we were really good friends. Anything else? No way. That's skanky.

In a hotel? You must be joking!!!!

Raven88 · 04/04/2018 23:53

First two only.

UpstartCrow · 04/04/2018 23:54

I accidentally went to the Post Office in my slippers last week. I had a brief moment of panic and checked I wasn't also wearing jammies.

BackforGood · 04/04/2018 23:55

Sleep
Breakfast in own home
In some circumstnaces breakfast in other people's home
Watch a bit of tele in your own home, perhaps after a bath

elephantoverthehill · 04/04/2018 23:57

I think it is acceptable to be in your PJs in hospital, if doing an overnight. Opening the front door in your PJs has been useful to get rid of cold-callers in the past, 'Sorry I was so long, I'm not very well'. Excellent excuse at 11.30 am.

EphraimLevi · 04/04/2018 23:58

Re the hotel, I’m talking Premier Inn rather than a boutique hotel.

Pj bottoms, jumper and ugg style slippers. I need coffee and breakfast before I can shower and get dressed and if I’m in a cheap hotel it’s because I’ve been out to an event somewhere so I will be, ahem, tired and emotional the next morning.

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 04/04/2018 23:59

I wouldn't do any of those - except perhaps answer the door, and I'd be embarrassed. Perhaps no. 3 if it's a very, very close friend.

I agree with BackforGood's list, tbh. Who are all these people who think pyjamas (I hate the expression'PJs' - that's one for the next 'what words do you hate?' thread) are acceptable wear for outside the home/in company?

SecretBum · 05/04/2018 00:00

I can't believe that anyone would actually go down to breakfast in a hotel in PJ's.

Itsjeremycorbynsfault · 05/04/2018 00:01

I work from home and one day last week I worked all day in my pjs. It was liberating 😂

I wouldn't leave the house in pjs though

MercianQueen · 05/04/2018 00:02

I think it's very simple.

In your own home, do and wear whatever you like.

The minute you open the front door and greet anyone who isn't your family, you should be dressed.

I don't work regular hours, but if I answer the door I will do so with at least easy-pull jeans and t-shirt onBlush

TroubledTribble28 · 05/04/2018 00:03

People wearing pyjamas outside of the home doesn't cause actual bodily harm to anyone does it? Which is why I've never understood the vitriol on here. I say that as someone who last owned proper pyjamas about ten years ago.

FrangipaniBlue · 05/04/2018 00:05

*Answer the door

Put the bins out.

Go down to breakfast in someone’s house.*

Definitely acceptable

*Go down to breakfast in a hotel

Early morning dog walk*

Only acceptable if wearing a hoodie and boots

*Go to the shops.

Do the school run*

Never acceptable (school run MAYBE if not actually getting out of the car and a hoodie is worn on top so that no one can see the PJs!!)

Fontella · 05/04/2018 00:06

I'm self employed and work from home. If it's shit weather and I've got no need to go out - I stay in my pyjamas all day.

I might bung a cardie top if I need to answer the door for a delivery - but that's about it.

e1y1 · 05/04/2018 00:09

Sleep, housework, or a pj day at home as in you don’t exit the grounds of your house.

That is it.

RebelRogue · 05/04/2018 00:10

With a coat/hoodie on top how in the world would you know if someone is in their pyjamas or not?
