I've had enough really. out of any day not Easter. My DCs 8, 5 and 3 have been waiting patiently all month for their chocolate eggs. I wake up this morning to find the Easter eggs all eaten with the the boxing left in the cupboard , the wrappers inside with one smarty, button or malteser left Easter Angry . I put it on the top of the cupboard so only DH and the DS 1&2 (18 and 15) could reach them. I go up to DS room and they were pretending to sleep. I wake them up and they admitted to eating all the Easter eggs. there was 8 of them! I cant actually believe it! They said they were planning to go to shop and buy some replacements but it was closed. They claimed it was an 'April Fool joke but went wrong'. The worst thing was they both found it funny I've told them they have to apologise to younger DCs. That there consoles and phones will be confiscated for all Easter break and that they are grounded and won't be going to any of their friends house. April Fools jokes are supposed to be funny! DH told me in going too far but I don't care sick of them treating the younger ones like shit. Rant over. Easter Angry Easter Angry

That's not an April fools unless they have hidden them.

I hope they both feel sick!

ineedamoreadultieradult · 01/04/2018 09:44

Thats not a joke that is mean and they have to learn the difference so yanbu.

Highhorse1981 · 01/04/2018 09:44

That’s awful

But there are shops open. Take the youngest out and let them pick. Make it avtreat

SneakyGremlins · 01/04/2018 09:45

Hiding them would be a joke. Eating them? Confused

BastardGoDarkly · 01/04/2018 09:45

Awww. Your.poor younger ones :(

April fools my arse, greedy bastards.

You've definitely not gone too far.

whoareyoukidding · 01/04/2018 09:45

Make your older sons pay for replacements, too. Not nice.

peachypetite · 01/04/2018 09:46

So your 18 year old and 15 year old have eaten eight Easter eggs between them? That is disgusting and greedy and your poor little ones not having anything now on Easter Sunday.

LineysInTheSand · 01/04/2018 09:46

That's really selfish of them. Not at all funny.

I'd send them to a petrol station or a 24-hour shop to buy some chocolate for the younger ones at least.

SaucyJane · 01/04/2018 09:47

Seriously?

That's terrible. So mean for the little ones and setting a very poor example too.

peachypetite · 01/04/2018 09:47

I would definitely send them back out and tell them not to come home without any eggs. There will be somewhere open.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 01/04/2018 09:47

And they should buy the younger ones replacement eggs - huge green and black or lindt bunny ones (not 99p smarties ones).

I'd also make them wear silly bunny ears all day as a punishment (and do the washing up).

hamandpease · 01/04/2018 09:48

I don't actually think the sentiment is wrong at all but how do you ground an 18 year old or hide their phone?

Gabbyleo · 01/04/2018 09:48

I've told them you go and walk and go find a shop they is open. I don't car how far it is. However DH said be will go and get them Hmm. It's a constant thing them picking on their younger DCs. Sick of it.

Confiscate*

GreenSeededGrape · 01/04/2018 09:48

That's terrible OP. I feel sorry for your younger dc.

RavenclawRealist · 01/04/2018 09:48

No April fools would be to empty the boxes hide the contents and make it look the eggs where eaten then surprise they weren't really!! Still a mean joke on Easter morning but everyone gets thier chocolate in the end! What they have done is pig out and screw the consequences that's different. You haven't gone ott at all they have spoiled something for their siblings by being selfish they should learn! Unfortunately you are going to have to listen to a l lot of whining from them this Easter!

AsAProfessionalFekko · 01/04/2018 09:49

Your DH must not help them out! How will they ever learn - he needs to stand up for the younger children.

FlamingGoat · 01/04/2018 09:49

I'd send them to a petrol station or a 24-hour shop to buy some chocolate for the younger ones at least.

This! ^^
And maybe they should tell them why they are buying them.

user1483387154 · 01/04/2018 09:49

Not an april fools joke at all, just plain and simply a mean thing to do.
Good on you for their consequences!

peachypetite · 01/04/2018 09:50

Your DH sounds like a soft touch. How will they see what they have done is wrong?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/04/2018 09:50

YANBU. Theyre 15 and 18. Theyre not 5 and 8. They damn well aught to be ashamed of themselves. TBH I wouldn't let them hear the last of it. They've had their Easters and the excitement of the Easter bunny coming.

Gabbyleo · 01/04/2018 09:50

I just don't get how they managed to eat 8 Easter eggs! I don't even want take them to MIL to eat considering they must be already full!

OP posts:
Inertia · 01/04/2018 09:50

That’s not a joke, it’s a really shitty way to treat young children.

There will be petrol stations open, I would be turfing them both out of bed and taking them to spend their own money on replacement chocolate. And hold firm with the punishments. An 18yo is an adult FFS, he should know better.

RavenclawRealist · 01/04/2018 09:51

Was your dh in on the 'joke'? It's odd just trying to help them so much

DeathStare · 01/04/2018 09:52

This isn't an April fool's joke. An April fool's joke would be to hide the eggs and pretend you've eaten them (though not an especially funny April fool's joke to play on little kids). Actually eating them is being a selfish, greedy shit. And at 15 and and 18 they are certainly old enough to know the difference.

TBH I'd have gone a bit further with the punishment. As well as what you've already done, I'd be sending them out right now (with either you or your DH to supervise seeing as they can't be trusted) and telling them not to come back until they have found replacements (because that's going to be an easy job on Easter Sunday!) They can pay for the replacements themselves and if they currently have no money they can pay you back.
