To think this is an april fools joke gone too far!

I've had enough really. out of any day not Easter. My DCs 8, 5 and 3 have been waiting patiently all month for their chocolate eggs. I wake up this morning to find the Easter eggs all eaten with the the boxing left in the cupboard , the wrappers inside with one smarty, button or malteser left Easter Angry . I put it on the top of the cupboard so only DH and the DS 1&2 (18 and 15) could reach them. I go up to DS room and they were pretending to sleep. I wake them up and they admitted to eating all the Easter eggs. there was 8 of them! I cant actually believe it! They said they were planning to go to shop and buy some replacements but it was closed. They claimed it was an 'April Fool joke but went wrong'. The worst thing was they both found it funny I've told them they have to apologise to younger DCs. That there consoles and phones will be confiscated for all Easter break and that they are grounded and won't be going to any of their friends house. April Fools jokes are supposed to be funny! DH told me in going too far but I don't care sick of them treating the younger ones like shit. Rant over. Easter Angry Easter Angry

They could have a long trek to find eggs - lots of shops sold out a day or two ago. some still had them yesterday. They do need to buy eggs, not just chocolate.

It's straightforward bullying.

Basta · 01/04/2018 10:03

I smell a rat here. The fact that they have carefully left one of each sweet suggests to me that it is an April Fool. I expect they'll confess before midday.

LynetteScavo · 01/04/2018 10:03

My DH says your DH is rescuing the situation and wants to get out of the house to get away from his crazed wife (more if a reflection of me than you, OP)

I'm with you making the teenagers go out to get them.

RavenclawRealist · 01/04/2018 10:04

I personally think the punishment isn't enough but I know any other punishment I do just won't work because DH won't agree with

Find the most god awful embarrassing pictures of them and put them on Facebook making sure they are tagged! Then when they kick off day you thought they like April Fools!!

GinandGingerBeer · 01/04/2018 10:04

That’s fucking horrible. Christ! I’d be livid.
I can’t believe they thought that was funny.

RavenclawRealist · 01/04/2018 10:04

Bold fail Blush

GinandGingerBeer · 01/04/2018 10:05

Basta what do you mean?
They’ve eaten them and left one tiny bit behind.
How is that an April fool?

lottiegarbanzo · 01/04/2018 10:06

The leaving one sweet is student-style humour - if the rest had been hidden (somewhere 'amusingly' inaccessible) - from fellow students.

From younger DCs who will be upset and not amused at all, even if the eggs had been hidden (I don't believe they have, lack of self control and forward planning being quite typical of teens), it's just cruel.

WhiteFreesias · 01/04/2018 10:06

I'd be livid too.

Thundercracker · 01/04/2018 10:06

It's not an April Fool on you is it? Would explain why DH appears to be on their side as well.

Still the work of nobs though.

Gabbyleo · 01/04/2018 10:06

I don't want no cheap chocolate from the corner shop. they can go and spend their money on good quality chocolate eggs. DS1 has a money form work. Not like he pays rent or for anything to run the house.

"That there consoles and phones will be confiscated for all Easter break"

I would be doing all of April at least.

If they have done this then it is disgusting.

There's being strict & there's expecting decent behaviour.

If there really are no eggs-it's not a prank, it's just nasty.

How about next time they are looking forward to a treat just pull it out from under them at the last minute?
They would deserve it but sadly it would be stooping to their level.

How could they be so nasty to young kids?

Nousernameforme · 01/04/2018 10:08

Tesco express is open cross country so you should be able to get eggs and appropriate easter hats for the older ones.

I would take the younger ones myself to buy them as that way you know they won't come back with shit ones.

I agree a week of "practical jokes" might be in the offing.
Standard stuff hiding phones taking the router to work with me etc and no lifts until you forgive them. Dh will do what he will you can't control that but that doesn't mean they can get an easy ride of it from you.

Oh and tell the younger ones why they are having to go out and get new eggs in front of the older ones

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 01/04/2018 10:10

Surely they're pulling your leg !
Sounds like your DH is in on it.

gamerchick · 01/04/2018 10:10

Not like he pays rent or for anything to run the house

Why on earth not? Time to rectify that as it’s obvious that treating him like a child means he acts like one.

SparklyMagpie · 01/04/2018 10:11

I would be absolutely livid

I'd really like to think it's a joke and they still have some eggs hidden as I can't stand the thought two selfish teenagers could do that to their little siblings

Furious for you OP

Basta · 01/04/2018 10:12

Basta what do you mean? They’ve eaten them and left one tiny bit behind. How is that an April fool?

I mean that they could be pretending to have eaten them and actually have hidden them.

And I suspect the OP's DH is in on it.

snewsname · 01/04/2018 10:12

That's mean and your dh is too soft. He shouldn't be going. They need the inconvenience and expense to learn.

Mrsmadevans · 01/04/2018 10:13

It is not funny OP. I think you are dead right it's about time they stopped being so nasty to the youngsters.

Gabbyleo · 01/04/2018 10:13

'D'H is acting like this sort of behavior is normal. He told me me that ' they are young boys it's normal'. I asked him if he did this to his younger sister. He didn't answer. Easter Hmm. DH needs to grow up himself so sick of this.

OP posts:
AtSea1979 · 01/04/2018 10:14

That’s a really mean thing to do and the 18 yo should know better, well they both should but there’s a big difference between 18 and 15. I would punish them both but get older one to buy the replacements as extra punishment for being older and leading younger one astray.

diddl · 01/04/2018 10:15

Even if the eggs are hidden-it's horrible for the young kids.

Well, pretty much bullying to me.

Why would the older ones & their father treat them like this?

Does he play pranks with the younger ones at the expense of the older ones?

Slartybartfast · 01/04/2018 10:16

the corner shop will have nice good quality eggs I guarantee

RandomLadyFromTheNorth · 01/04/2018 10:16

You have definitely not gone too far!
Mean buggers!
The shops should be open at 11... I think. Make them buy some more out of their own money!

Slartybartfast · 01/04/2018 10:16

is this a blended family op?
