They have run out of milk chocolate eggs. The bog standard ones they personalise. Seriously. I'm so annoyed at how shit they are.

There are 3 people in my family that will be very disappointed. You just don't expect a (massively overrated) chocolate shop to run out of chocolate!!!!!!! Can they not just MAKE SOME MORE?????!

... it is a bit late to be buying them though, if you have a specific one in mind?
Get a Waitrose milk egg instead, much nicer

84CharingCrossRoad · 29/03/2018 17:41

Could you not have bought yours before they ran out???

hammeringinmyhead · 29/03/2018 17:44

YABU. I bought my eggs 2 weeks ago and retail buying forecasts are a gamble.

JamieVardysHavingAParty · 29/03/2018 17:45

Normally they overstock and are left selling them at clearance prices post-Easter. They're presumably trying to fix that.

pigshavecurlytails · 29/03/2018 17:47

it's gone 5 on the day before Good Friday - if they had many left then they'd be overstocked.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 29/03/2018 17:50

You could try piping your own message onto a regular egg? I wouldn't want to try it, but you may have a steadier hand. I would be covered in icing after the first letter. Or try a different branch of Thorntons? If there are any more near you you could phone them and see if they have any left?

Namechangetempissue · 29/03/2018 17:50

They produce according to last years demand. It isn't an item that will keep for next year in a warehouse and you can't sell eggs after easter for full price. After leaving my egg buying until last minute about 5 years ago and everywhere selling out I buy mine early now!

Slightlyperturbedowlagain · 29/03/2018 17:51

Everywhere round here has run out of creme eggs this year.

Leeds2 · 29/03/2018 17:52

I'd be a bit cross too. Presumably there will be a lot of unhappy customers on Good Friday and Easter Saturday too.

Amomentofbeauty · 29/03/2018 17:52

Why will they be so disappointed? Is it the having their name on it thing? I think the supermarkets are selling the Thorntons eggs if it's a case of them loving the chocolate.

LockedOutOfMN · 29/03/2018 17:52

Go to the supermarket and buy a large egg such as Green and Black's and then pipe a personalised message onto it with those Dr. Oetker icing pens (cake decorating aisle of any supermarket).

iklboo · 29/03/2018 17:52

The whole of Thornton's has run out of milk chocolate eggs?

LockedOutOfMN · 29/03/2018 17:53

Or you could phone around Thornton's stores first thing Saturday to see if anywhere has them? I think some supermarkets stock Thornton's too.

SimonBridges · 29/03/2018 17:55

You have left it rather late.

Also although they are a chocolate shop it’s not like the staff can nip out the back and make some more.

strawberrysparkle · 29/03/2018 17:57

They have them online you could get next day delivery for Saturday?

ikeepaforkinmypurse · 29/03/2018 17:58

Could you not have bought yours before they ran out???

best advice of the week.
Does going easter egg shopping on the bank holiday or the Saturday before Easter sound like such an outrageous concept?

Vitalogy · 29/03/2018 18:01

Have a change this year. If not all the other ones Thornton's stock, what about the Chokablok ones, I thought they were a bit unusual.

abigailsnan · 29/03/2018 18:02

Left it a wee bit late don't you think ?

DextroDependant · 29/03/2018 18:02

I bought weeks ago, tried to get some on Easter Saturday one year and everywhere was sold out so never tried that again.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 29/03/2018 18:04

Never mind Thornton's-my morrisons has no Lindt rabbits. Shocking.

BlankTimes · 29/03/2018 18:09

my morrisons has no Lindt rabbits

Try here, something for everyone including rabbits, I really love the look of some of the more grown up ones and I don't even eat chocolate!

Well it sounds like a bloody silly idea if you want to get a certain one.
If you know that you must get a certain egg or Easter will be ruined then you need to make sure you buy it in plenty of time. They’ve been in the shops since January, there had been time.

PinkHeart5914 · 29/03/2018 18:12

Is it really leaving it late to want to buy Easter eggs today? It’s not outrageous someone might want to buy Easter eggs today is it really. Yes one would expect a chocolate shop to you know have ordered in enough chocolate

UniqueSiren · 29/03/2018 18:12

It's online that I'm talking about. They don't have any left. My Nana used to buy them for us all. When she died I took over the role. They're not for me.

A substitute won't work. I always do it this late because I don't have storage to hide them from the children.

UniqueSiren · 29/03/2018 18:14

I am talking about the Thornton's basic, no frills milk chocolate egg. It's not a super special thing that I expect them to sell out of!! It makes it worse that I think it's over priced and tastes like wax! (imo, I like cadbury or galaxy)
