They have run out of milk chocolate eggs. The bog standard ones they personalise. Seriously. I'm so annoyed at how shit they are.

There are 3 people in my family that will be very disappointed. You just don't expect a (massively overrated) chocolate shop to run out of chocolate!!!!!!! Can they not just MAKE SOME MORE?????!

so glad my kids are grown up now and i don't have to do all this stuff.
A cheapo Aldi egg each and job done.
No more standing at the top of a freezing hill rolling badly painted hard boiled eggs which left my hands covered in paint

PoohBearsHole · 29/03/2018 18:58

if i’m correct Thornton’s were on dodgy financial territory so that might explain being more sensible in their ordering.

NotACleverName · 29/03/2018 19:00

Buy a bloody Easter egg from a supermarket. It doesn’t specifically need to be a Thornton’s egg. No need for the angst about it.

IanRushesInadequateFlushes · 29/03/2018 19:02

Good - it means people are actually shopping there and maybe we won't see yet another retailer leaving gaps all over the decimated high streets just yet.

GreenTulips · 29/03/2018 19:04

It makes it worse that I think it's over priced and tastes like wax! (imo, I like cadbury or galaxy)

Why on earth did you continue this 'tradition' if you don't actually like it?

God those eggs are foul!

Octave777 · 29/03/2018 19:10

Online? 15percent off for next day delivery. They are still advertising.

WeeMadArthur · 29/03/2018 19:11

They are sellling Thornton’s eggs (with a football or cupcake) in Asda for £3, you could pipe on the names yourself.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 29/03/2018 19:41

I'll be buying half a dozen next week for a pound each, and using them for cooking chocolate. Warehouse dumped about 400 last year even so.

yumyumpoppycat · 29/03/2018 20:11

I felt so sorry today - there was a man around his 70s or 80s looking for a dark chocolate egg in one of the supermarkets and the assistant told him off really loudly - 'you are too LATE!!!' He was all apologetic - 'oh dear at least I have learned for next year'. He picked up a nice looking alternative at least.

strawberrysparkle · 29/03/2018 20:19

OP they have loads online...

www.thorntons.co.uk/easter-gifts

ineedamoreadultieradult · 29/03/2018 20:23

Completely missing the point but how on earth do you cope at Christmas if hiding 3 Easter eggs is beyond you?

SweetMoon · 29/03/2018 20:29

Perhaps everyone else thinks Thornton chocolate is a bit shit too but haven't wanted to say. They'll probably be glad of a change. Start a new trend of buying a nice Waitrose one or something.

Plus I am a bit baffled you can't hide a few eggs. Unless you were buying tons of them.

TheFirstMrsOsmond · 29/03/2018 20:34

it's overpriced and taste like wax

So now you have the perfect excuse to buy a different one!
I hate Thorntons - oversweet

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 29/03/2018 20:48

They ran out because o2 priority had a special offer to get a free one for 2 weeks. They might rethink that again

gillybeanz · 29/03/2018 20:49

YABU who buys that shit tasting chocolate anyway.
I'd be glad they ran out, it's hardly descriptable as chocolate.

Grilledaubergines · 29/03/2018 20:53

Buy normal eggs and pipe names on yourself. Then wrap in sellophane and a bow.

They’ve probably made fewer this year to limit losses on unsold eggs.

Grilledaubergines · 29/03/2018 20:54

When I say ‘normal’ I mean chocolate. Not free range.

CeeCeeMacFay · 29/03/2018 20:56

You can buy Thornton's eggs from other retailers. I know M and S sell them and so do Tescos

MeltSnow · 29/03/2018 20:59

I get that there is an emotional side to this but are you sure that this is actually something to get so wound up about. Just do something different this year and go back to your tradition next year. 💁🏻

InspiredByIntegrity · 29/03/2018 21:05

Is there an outlet place near you that you could get to on Saturday? Both Mcarthur Glen and a Freeport outlet near us have a Thorntons.

I bought 2 Thornton basic eggs today for £5. They had loads in my local supermarket.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 29/03/2018 21:26

They are doing you a huge favour, because Thorntons chocolate is terrible.

But, if you're really bothered, Wilko are selling Thorntons eggs for £2 and you could probably put the names on yourself...

halfwitpicker · 29/03/2018 21:29

A bit late?

It's not even Easter yet

bimbobaggins · 29/03/2018 21:30

You mean you didn’t buy them on Boxing Day when they went on sale
