They have run out of milk chocolate eggs. The bog standard ones they personalise. Seriously. I'm so annoyed at how shit they are.

There are 3 people in my family that will be very disappointed. You just don't expect a (massively overrated) chocolate shop to run out of chocolate!!!!!!! Can they not just MAKE SOME MORE?????!

Our local Wilko had hundreds of basic milk chocolate Thorntons eggs earlier - football, cupcake and butterfly ones for £2 each, plus a white chocolate on with a bunny on, also £2.

Devonishome1 · 29/03/2018 21:35

There are thousands of Creme egg ones left this year...no one wants them🤣

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 29/03/2018 21:39

I agree about Thorntons chocolate being hideous. I can't eat the stuff, it's so sickly.

Tesco sell white chocolate pens that you melt and write with. Try that on a plain egg as others have suggested. In fact I might do that myself!

ArcheryAnnie · 29/03/2018 21:42

My favourite bit of easter is Easter Tuesday, when all the really posh eggs in Waitrose go on sale for tuppence and we fill our boots.

(I have bought DS an egg - or rather a chocolate dinosaur and a giant carrot - for actual Easter Day.)

HelenaDove · 29/03/2018 21:44

I dont like Thorntons chocolate. i have some of the Sainsburys Taste the Difference Swiss Milk Chocolate Mini Eggs. They also do those big Taste the Difference chocolate bunnies The only ones left in my local store today were the milk ones The white and the dark were sold out.

the dark ones of the mini eggs ive mentioned above were sold out last week, dark choc seems to be more popular around here this Easter.

HelenaDove · 29/03/2018 21:44

Annie my friends little boy is dinosaur mad.

Lacucuracha · 29/03/2018 21:46

First your nan, now you. I think this is a good opportunity to pass the wifework task to a man for a change.

WeAllHaveWings · 29/03/2018 21:50

Ds used to get a Thornton egg at easter and a big santa at Christmas from a family member.

He's 14 now and no longer gets the egg but still gets the santa every year. The chocolate is that bad even he won't eat them and we either regift or bin. It's hilarious every year watching him enthusiastically accept them when I know the first thing he'll say on the way home is "do you want my Thornton egg/santa?". I am amazed the brand is still going.

weall its very sweet of him to do that.............so as not to hurt the givers feelings.

ArcheryAnnie · 29/03/2018 21:56

HelenaDove it's Spikey The Dinosaur from M&S! Comes with wee little dinosaur eggs, too. I think it was £6.

ArchchancellorsHat · 29/03/2018 22:10

there were much nicer eggs in my Aldi this afternoon, a few different kinds. And I think chocolate bunnies.

maybe everyone will be delighted to have a change (with better chocolate).

Sweetnhappy1 · 29/03/2018 23:03

OP - are you complaining that they are no longer available online??? Presumably if you could still order them today, they wouldn't be dispatched until Saturday and wouldn't arrive until after Easter given that tomorrow and Monday are bank holidays?

MabantoMoonface · 29/03/2018 23:08

Can’t you just rename all your relatives ‘Egg’. Like that bloke out of This Life.

HelenaDove · 30/03/2018 02:13

Ta Archery That sounds cute Better than the one i saw in Sainsburys which was just a red foiled egg in a Jurassic Park box.

Missuseff · 30/03/2018 17:53

Yes YABU. If it matters so much to have crappy Thornton chocolate then go out to the shops, I saw my local Thorntons had oodles today, or you should’ve bought them earlier and found somewhere to stash them. JFC, 1st world problem much?

davidbritten65 · 30/03/2018 18:02

How about not giving Easter Eggs and making a donation to a homeless charity and showing your kids that it is not all about chocolate..or even taking them to Church to explain that Easter is not about expensive personalised Easter Eggs?

speakout · 30/03/2018 18:08

davidbritten65 so you don't give gifts to your kids? Not even birthdays or christmas?

Oh and no thanks to church. Horrible easter story.

ilovekitkats · 30/03/2018 18:20

OP, I think you have left it a bit late , if you wanted special personalised eggs, then 3 days before Easter is too close for comfort especially for online delivery.

Last year I left egg buying til the week before Easter, all that was left in supermarkets were the really expensive eggs at £10, or eggs with mugs. I vowed never to leave it that late again!

Are there any Thornton’s shops near you?

BritInUS1 · 30/03/2018 18:26

Can you buy online Thursday for delivery before Easter then? It would seem very late

Sparklingbrook · 30/03/2018 18:28

Good Friday is a bit on the late side IMO to guarantee the egg of choice.

Another sort will have to do.

SirGawain · 30/03/2018 18:44

YABU! you left it until two days before Easter eggs; have been in stock since Christmas.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 30/03/2018 18:49

They've still got the white chocolate one. Will they not do?

ilikebread · 30/03/2018 18:50

Calm down, it’s chocolate 😂

SpringNowPlease2018 · 30/03/2018 19:15

Yabu
And you thought they'd be delivered on time as well? That's cutting it fine in half!
