not AIBU but posting for traffic

I've fallen over about half an hour ago and heard my ankle crunch, can't put weight on it and in a lot of pain, taken paracetamol and got it raised but really am in unbelievable pain and think I need to go to A&E, my DP says i've just fallen over and i'm being silly but i'm not so He's gone to work.

I can't get a taxi and have no family here to call to drive me so how do I get to A&E? If I ring 111 can they arrange transport? The hospital is only a 2 minute drive from me but I can't walk Confused what is the best thing to do?
Sorry for asking here but my DP is useless and my family are all away

Why can't you get a taxi? If its a two minute drive it can't cost much.

Gammeldragz · 09/03/2018 16:09

In this situation an ambulance would be fine.

SoxonFeet · 09/03/2018 16:10

Ambulance in this situation. I know someone who fell recently and broke their ankle badly.

Oh and ditch your wanker partner.

hurtmyankle · 09/03/2018 16:10

blastomama I don't have any money for a taxi

Get a cab?

PaperdollCartoon · 09/03/2018 16:10

Why can’t you get a taxi? Could DP drive but doesn’t want to? If it crunched it might well be broken, call 111 and ask them.

Gammeldragz · 09/03/2018 16:10

People call ambulance for much less. I work in the NHS and have paramedics as friends, they really won't mind and it's a nice short trip. May be a while though.

hurtmyankle · 09/03/2018 16:10

Do I call 111 to get the ambulance though? Is it okay to call 999 for a broken/injured ankle?

Taxi. It’s a two minute drive, I will cost about £3

JustVent · 09/03/2018 16:11

I personally don’t think it’s ok when you can get a taxi.

blueskyinmarch · 09/03/2018 16:11

What an arse your DP is. Have you got a friend or neighbour you can call? If not call 111 and they can arrange an ambulance if need be.

hurtmyankle · 09/03/2018 16:11

It's £4.50 beginning rate for a cab and I have about £2 in change until Monday so a taxi really isn't doable

Gammeldragz · 09/03/2018 16:11

If you feel silly calling 999, call 111.

PaperdollCartoon · 09/03/2018 16:11

If you really don’t have the money and no one can help you, call an ambulance. A family member is a paramedic - believe me they’re called for far milder things. At least an ambulance could actually help you pretty quickly.

TheCatsMother44 · 09/03/2018 16:11

Have you got any friends who drive?

formerbabe · 09/03/2018 16:12

Do you mean you have no money at all...even in the bank? Or you just don't have cash on you?

blastomama · 09/03/2018 16:12

People call ambulance for much less

They do, but that doesn't mean an ambulance will be sent.

hurtmyankle · 09/03/2018 16:12

I'll call 111, I wasn't sure if it was reasonable to phone them just for an ankle when there's more serious stuff they can deal with but i'll ring them now, thank you

OP posts:
blueskyinmarch · 09/03/2018 16:13

What about an Uber if they operate in your area? Don't need cash for that but you do need to have a bank card.

PaperdollCartoon · 09/03/2018 16:13

Call an ambulance - there’s been an accident and you are injured, they can help you and you clearly have no other options.

beckymad1x · 09/03/2018 16:13

If you ring 111 they'll be able to let you know what to do next!

Hope you're okay!

Gammeldragz · 09/03/2018 16:13

My sister in law had an air ambulance sent out for her broken ankle (out on the forest). It was bad and she had surgery, so not silly at all.
Ambulances are called for much sillier things.

hurtmyankle · 09/03/2018 16:13

formerbabe no money atall otherwise I would've just got an Uber straight away but had a massive bill to pay this month

PaperdollCartoon · 09/03/2018 16:13

@blastomama you’d be amazed

ladymelbourne1926 · 09/03/2018 16:13

Call 111 they will advise you. Or call a friend / anyone, sure most people will be willing to help in this situation.
I hope you're ok.
