not AIBU but posting for traffic

I've fallen over about half an hour ago and heard my ankle crunch, can't put weight on it and in a lot of pain, taken paracetamol and got it raised but really am in unbelievable pain and think I need to go to A&E, my DP says i've just fallen over and i'm being silly but i'm not so He's gone to work.

I can't get a taxi and have no family here to call to drive me so how do I get to A&E? If I ring 111 can they arrange transport? The hospital is only a 2 minute drive from me but I can't walk Confused what is the best thing to do?
Sorry for asking here but my DP is useless and my family are all away

Just because they call an ambulance for much less doesn’t mean that it’s ok to call one when you have other options.

Your DP for example. If won’t help you get there, then ask him for the money.

It costs the NHS about £300 for an ambulance call out, and you will be low priority so will be waiting hours.

You asked if it was ok, and I think the answer is no. It’s not ok.

Find an alternative.

FeedMyFaceWithBattenberg · 09/03/2018 16:14

Ambulances cost a fortune, you should be arranging a lift yourself

PaperdollCartoon · 09/03/2018 16:14

Also your ‘D’P is a complete twat

hurtmyankle · 09/03/2018 16:14

ringing 111 now thank you, I know it seems daft to post on here but I didn't want to waste someone's time phoning up about it

You're wasting precious nhs resources 🙄

DalekDalekDalek · 09/03/2018 16:15

Calling out an ambulance just because you can't afford a taxi is wrong. If you genuinely, medically need an ambulance that is fine. But it isn't an excuse for not paying for a taxi.

A quick search of google says it costs the NHS, on average, £254.57 for an ambulance to take you to hospital. It's not ok to call one out if you don't need it.

BewareOfDragons · 09/03/2018 16:15

Not everyone has spare cash sitting around. They just don't.

Hope it's not broken, OP.

JustVent · 09/03/2018 16:16

@Gammeldragz not exactly the same thing Hmm

Chocolatecake12 · 09/03/2018 16:16

Let us know what happens
Hope you are ok

PaperdollCartoon · 09/03/2018 16:16

OP has clearly tried to think of alternatives. DP is clearly an arse, many people don’t have friends or family around to give lifts or lend money, she really doesn’t have money for a taxi.

Call 111 and relay this, it sounds very likely you need A&E

BackforGood · 09/03/2018 16:16

If one of my neighbours, or people I know but don't regard as particularly close friends asked me if I could drive them 2 mins to a local hospital as they were worried they'd broken their ankle, I'd do it in a heartbeat, as would anyone I know.
Do you really not know anyone with a car ?

JustVent · 09/03/2018 16:17

Spice you seem more bothered about wasting your DP’s time.

How odd.

After this I would seriously be re-evaluating the relationship.

PaperdollCartoon · 09/03/2018 16:17

@DalekDalekDalek sounds like she does need it though, so...

Youshallnotpass · 09/03/2018 16:17

Lets hope while the ambulance is dealing with your maybe broken ankle someone doesn't die who actually needs it.

Unreal...

stayathomegardener · 09/03/2018 16:17

My God, you poor thing.
I think your injury is the least of your worries.

Can you not use this experience to motivate yourself to leave your partner?
Who goes out and leaves anyone in pain. Thanks

TheQueef · 09/03/2018 16:18

If she doesn't have the money, she ain't got it.
Unless someone is going to PayPal a tenner with the berating she needs an ambulance.

PaperdollCartoon · 09/03/2018 16:18

111 is definitely first port of call, but they can also send ambulances

hurtmyankle · 09/03/2018 16:19

i'm not wanting an ambulance because i'm a cheap skate and can't be bothered to pay for a cab, I don't know anyone who drives apart from my mum and she is currently 4 hours away and i really do have about £2 in change and no money on my card, my crappy partner can't drive, doesn't have his phone on him and hasn't got a penny, i really don't have any other options i'm not a scrounged and I don't want an ambulance just because i've hurt my ankle

Adarajames · 09/03/2018 16:19

where are you based, maybe one of us could help you out? or PM me and I'll book an uber for you

italiancortado · 09/03/2018 16:19

Ask a family member or friend to transfer you a tenner to cover the Uber?

PaperdollCartoon · 09/03/2018 16:20

@Youshallnotpass my relative who’s a paramedic reckons only about 2 in 20 calls they attend required an ambulance. They’d much rather attend this incidence than the many many drunks or elderly people who call them out for a chat.

hurtmyankle · 09/03/2018 16:20

I'm ringing somebody I used to work with a year ago who used to drive me to work to see if she can help me out

OP posts:
formerbabe · 09/03/2018 16:20

Could your partner at least organise and pay for a taxi for you?

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 09/03/2018 16:20

You can owe Uber a ride.

You can book it and if you have no money in your account, it still comes and you have to pay it before you order the next one

FannyFifer · 09/03/2018 16:20

Ring your partners & tell him he must come home immediately & take you to the hospital. What a wanker.
