To ask how you met your DP?

My lovely friend is very down. She’s been Internet dating for a few months and now believes all men are, as Bridget Jones once said: alcoholics, workaholics, commitment phobics, peeping toms, megalomaniacs, emotional fuckwits or perverts.

She’s deleted all her accounts and is now looking for real life alternatives.

Could I ask you clever lot how you met and wooed your partners please?

Tinder :) and he's perfect.

The 'all men are shit' attitude is a bit offensive and a bit of a repellant tbh. And if she's just meeting and getting close to nonstop fuckwits she may be the common denominator! She maybe needs to work on her picker, I met loads of lovely normal men on tinder before my OH.

marymoosmum · 02/03/2018 17:39

I met mine at college, by really much wooing done tbh. He is a workaholic though, turns up half an hour earlier than he needs too, but spends time with the DC in the morning and puts them to bed.

Match.com
I'm still unsure as to why he even signed up. Drop dead handsome, successful sportsman and interesting job
The clincher was the first time I stayed and noticed all his bedding and towels were White Company, and he then cooked a roast that was better than any I'd had in a pub

They are out there but I had to kiss a few weirdo loser frogs before I found him

DH and I are childhood sweethearts; we met, became friends and started dating in school Smile

We’ve been together ever since; I love him with all my heart and he’s a truly wonderful man.

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 02/03/2018 17:42

Bumble. Met some utter loons on tinder first though!

fortywinksfortyblinks · 02/03/2018 17:42

luelle · 02/03/2018 17:43

I met DP through work and although we don't work together anymore the flirting definitely made the first few months in the job more enjoyable haha

Through a bands website when it was more frowned upon to meet over the Internet. 16 years and going strong - 11 years married this year.

Theresasmayshoes11 · 02/03/2018 17:44

He was at the boys grammar and I was at the girls. 1980! Aged 16 in those days when anyone could get into any pub Grin

Married 30 years this year Grin

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 02/03/2018 17:44

In a bar/club but we are talking over a decade ago when people used to talk to one another...crazy times

IllBeAtTheBarIfYouNeedMe · 02/03/2018 17:44

He came to fix my car.

I was totally uninterested in looking for a relationship and had been very happily single for 10 years so I suppose I wooed him with my natural nonchalance and relaxed persona.

AnnaleeP · 02/03/2018 17:47

In a rock bar, friend of the friend I was meeting after my original Friday night plans fell through. Lucky!

falsepriest · 02/03/2018 17:51

OLD but I met a lot of weirdos before I met him

Commuterface · 02/03/2018 17:58

I met my DH online. First ever online date either of us went on too. I realise I (and he!) probably just got lucky.

eggsandwich · 02/03/2018 17:58

I met my Dh 31 years ago through an add in the local newspaper, I’d put an add for friends and got loads of replies which showed that there were a lot of people that wanted friends in their life.

To cut a long story short my dh’s letter stood out as the envelope was bright yellow, I rang him and we arrange to meet at my local train station as we were going to have a drink in the pub next door.

I still remember now walking towards the station entrance and my Dh got out of his car and for me it was love at first sight and been together ever since.
I always remember saying to my mum how did she know my dad was the one and she said she couldn’t explain it she just knew, that’s how I felt about my Dh.

Welshmaenad · 02/03/2018 17:58

Tinder! We've been together 18 months and I absolutely adore him, he's lovely.

You have to develop very very strict parameters for tinder to work IMO. Or it just gets depressing.
